The City of Berkeley is now accepting applications for the position of Health Services Program Specialist! In this role, you will plan and manage a specialized health program. Program-planning activities will include development of procedures for operation and evaluation and fiscal and budgetary administration. You will also liaise with program personnel to assure proper integration of program planning and evaluation with program operations. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with major course work in public health, health or social-services related field, or health-related public policy, and two years of experience as a health/social services professional.

One year supervisory experience which has included budget and program development is desirable.

Other requirements: Must be willing to work evenings and weekends and be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. For automobile travel, a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required.

• Provide technical and functional lead supervision and training to animal services staff and volunteers.

Definition
Under general supervision, the Senior Land Surveyor supervises and coordinates the activities of field and office surveying functions and assists the Survey and Mapping Manager with supervisory and administrative functions of the Survey Services Unit.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is a single position classification responsible for assisting the Survey and Mapping Manager in supervising the efforts of subordinate personnel including surveyors, engineering technicians, and consultants. The Senior Land Surveyor can be assigned to any of the following areas: supervision of survey activities in the field for design and construction projects, supervision of office surveying functions such as mapping, writing legal descriptions, and production of accurate calculations used for engineering, real estate and construction activities.

This classification requires that the incumbent be licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of California or equivalent and possess specialized knowledge of land surveying techniques and construction surveying, with emphasis on technology such as GPS (Global Positioning System) methodology and instrumentation. This position will supervise professional and/or administrative staff, as well as identify the need for establishing and administering consultant contracts. This position works with other public agencies (e.g., Caltrans, local cities and counties, water district) to establish property exchanges and rights of way for transportation improvements.

Essential Job Functions

Typical Tasks

• Selects, supervises, trains, motivates, assigns, evaluates, counsels and disciplines subordinate personnel;

Minimum Qualifications

Employment Standards
Sufficient training, education, and experience to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Development of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is typically obtained through training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in surveying science, engineering or a related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of technical surveying experience, at least three (3) years of which must have been in a position comparable to that of a field surveying Chief of Party and/or office surveying "Lead" Land Surveyor. Directly related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.

Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of California or equivalent is required at the time of appointment.

DefinitionUnder administrative direction from the Human Services Director, plans, organizes and directs a Division of the Human Services Department which provides specialized family services; and serves as a member of the department's management team.

Class Characteristics
This professional management classification in the Human Services Department may be assigned as Youth and Family Services Administrator, Aging and Family Services Administrator or Family Resource Center Administrator. Incumbent follows general guidelines or professional and administrative standards in accomplishing assignments; it is characterized by the responsibility to develop and implement mental and physical health and other social services that support self-sufficiency, strengthen families, help children achieve their optimal development, and help older adults remain independent and engaged in the community for as long as possible. Supervision for the Family Resource Center Administrator is jointly provided by the Human Services Director and leadership team of the Family Resource Center. Review of work is occasional or on a problem basis with incumbents presenting alternative courses for policy decisions. Routine and unusual problems are handled within the context of general plans, broad policies, budgetary limitations and professional standards. Successful performance is measured by total results. This classification is distinguished from Human Services Director by the latter's responsibility to plan, organize and direct the work of the Human Services Department, and from Clinical Supervisor by the latter's responsibility to supervise counseling or social work staff, to monitor the implementation of professional standards, and to provide training and direction to professional staff and interns. Tri-City is looking for an individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Adult Full-Service Partnership (FSP). The Clinical Therapist I/II will appeal to individuals who are inspired by challenges and opportunities presented in working with an engaged and active community with moderate to severe behavioral health clients. The Clinical Therapist will report to a Clinical Supervisor.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Provides individual, group, and family interventions, rehabilitation, and treatment services including counseling, therapy, case management, and referral and linkage to community services to a variety of clients including high acuity clients.

• Within scope of authority, assesses, diagnoses, and treats a variety of clients with mental health disorders; collaborates with clients and creates individualized treatments plans according to client’s needs and circumstances.

• Initiates and conducts individual, group, and family counseling and biopsychosocial therapy sessions utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities; provides case management services in the office and in the field.

• Performs routine and emergency intake evaluations according to Authority procedure;
  completes appropriate forms and documents relating to the intake process; and prepares medical and demographic case history for use in diagnosis.

• Assists clients and family members in understanding behavioral health diagnosis, contributing factors/causes, effects, prognosis, rehabilitation, and treatment.

• Works with clients to address stressors and barriers to treatment and/or social functioning; identifies and focuses on client strengths and personal resources to effectively engage and treat client.
