This Sr. Facilities Repair Worker position will be stationed at Central Service Yard and travel to various sites across San Jose , with an emphasis on the City of San J ose's interim housing communities . In addition to the typical duties of a Sr. Facilities Repair Worker, the successful candidate will interact a n d compassionately communicate with interim housing tenants and pe ople in vulnerable housing situations . The position requires flexibility and adaptability to : respond to afterhours alarms , navigate exposure to situations and issues surrounding unhoused, and make decisions in stressful or ambiguous situations. The position may also oversee other Facility Repairs Workers in their day-to-day tasks and special projects. Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Leads, repairs, and maintains water faucets, urinal valves, commode valves, shower heads, minor pipe leaks, and various other water control valves.
• Leads and performs minor repair on buildings caused by vandalism and normal wear, including patching, full area painting and spot painting, floor tile repair and replacement, glass replacement, door adjustments, wall panel replacement, and wood trim replacement.
• Leads and performs minor repairs and maintains PTA C AC units .
• Leads, repairs, and maintains equipment, including generators and power tools.

• Schedules and manages contractor activities and reviews and approves payments.
• Prepares work orders for major repair and alterations and monitors progress and completion of projects.
• Prepares reports on materials, labor, and cost on damage caused by users in order to recover cost.
• Maintains records of repair equipment.
• Maintains records of work and projects in a work order system database.

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to provide highly complex professional work in the planning, management and oversight of construction and rehabilitation projects and programs. The Asset Management Division, along with the Real Estate Development Division, are part of SCCHA’s Real Estate Department.  The team working in Real Estate is mission oriented, dynamic and collaborative. The team works closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The City of Pacifica is recruiting for a Public Works Superintendent within the Department of Public Works. Under direction of the Field Services Manager, the incumbents will be responsible for the field services of the Public Works Department. They will plan, organize, and direct the work of field personnel and perform related work as required. The incumbents will be assigned to oversee various subdivisions such as Streets, Streams, Storm Drains, Street Lighting, and Motor Pool programs.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining and repairing the City’s infrastructure and wastewater treatment operations in an efficient and cost-effective manner while providing a high level of customer service and a safe work environment for city employees. The Department maintains parks, playing fields and medians and keeps streets and trails clean and well-maintained. The Department also coordinates the tree program, cleans beaches and coordinates the City Beautification program.

The Public Works Department is organized into three divisions including Wastewater Treatment Operations, Field Services and Engineering. The Wastewater Treatment Operations includes the operation of the Calera Creek water treatment plant and management of the collection system. Field Services oversees the maintenance of city streets, parks, trees, vehicles and public facilities. The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Principal Staff Specialist in the Strategic Incentives Division (SI) Division. This is an open recruitment for one (1) full-time, represented position.

The Strategic Incentives Division supports the Air District’s mission by implementing incentive programs (grant programs) that achieve voluntary reductions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases, primarily from on- and off-road vehicles and equipment that operate in the Air District’s jurisdiction. In 2023-2024, the SI Division is administering more than $90 million in new revenue to fund programs and projects that replace older diesel-fueled vehicles and equipment such as school and transit buses, marine vessels, locomotives, trucks, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, and other mobile equipment, with newer, cleaner alternatives, including zero-emission technologies, and install refueling/charging infrastructure that supports the accelerated adoption of zero-emissions vehicles and equipment. Other programs administered support the reduction of single-occupancy vehicle, provide cash and mobility options to residents for turning in their older vehicles, and provide grants to reduce pollution from woodburning devices. The Division develops programs to meet community identified strategies for reducing air quality disparities and that benefit the Bay Area’s most overburdened communities.

About you in the position

The Principal Staff Specialist (AB 617 role) in the SI Division will coordinate the division's efforts in bringing greater equity to grant programs through program development, collaboration with other divisions, and engagement with communities under the AB 617 program. With your in-depth knowledge of the Air District’s emission reduction grant programs, you will lead the division's participation in internal and external AB 617 engagement, including communicating the role of the division; analyzing, reporting, and presenting information about air quality improvement incentive programs and mobile sources, participating in community meetings, proposing and guiding discussions on incentive-related emission reduction strategies and actions, developing plans/programs to implement action, and soliciting feedback on strategy implementation. Examples of other tasks include preparing written materials related to grant programs, reports and plans; proposing recommendations for updates to current incentive programs; developing and supporting the development of new programs; assessing impacts of regulatory actions on mobile source categories; presenting to the Board of Directors and other stakeholders; and leading and training staff. This position will require working nights and weekends on occasion to attend community meetings and public events. What You'll Do

The Public Works Department is responsible for the City's major capital projects and infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, streetlights, traffic signals, sewer and storm conveyance systems, and pump stations.  The Department is also responsible for the efficient management of the City's traffic operations and review of right-of-way impacts associated with private developments.

Transportation is and continues to be of importance to our Department and the community.  Traffic congestion plagues many of the peninsula cities.  Belmont has taken a proactive approach by continuously looking for transportation improvements, such as roundabout design, multimodal enhancements, and an adaptive signal operation system on our main East-West connection, Ralston Avenue.  Another pivotal project is the development of a citywide Transportation Master Plan, to help guide the City for its future growth.

Private development has grown significantly in the City the last 5 years, including biolife sciences, housing, and mixed-use developments.  Most notable are the Conceptual Development Plan and Development for the Belmont Stanford Campus at Notre Dame de Namur University and the Annexation of the Harbor Industrial Area from the County of San Mateo.

This invitation is focused on recruiting a Senior Engineer for private development and permitting services.  Key assignments include leading staff and managing consultants and contractors through the private development process, as well as managing the permitting services.  However, the Senior Engineer may be assigned to work in any of the work areas mentioned above.

In addition, the Senior Engineer assists in preparing and monitoring operating budgets in connection with assigned programs and contract management.  Effective communication skills and the ability to recognize the interconnectedness of the various civil disciplines and stakeholders are critical to the success of this position.  This position is public-facing and may be needed in planning commissions and city council meetings.  This position involves direct supervision of a growing team of 3-4 staff members, which may include engineers, engineering technicians, and contract staff.

Generally, the Senior Civil Engineer supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for performing professional and technical engineering services in the design and management of public works capital improvement projects, private development, permitting and other services, ensuring high work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.

Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned.  Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series, including management of the most complex engineering projects or exercising lead direction over lower-level staff.  Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.

The responsibilities and duties of the Senior Civil Engineer may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing professional engineering services in the design and management of public works capital improvement projects.
• Establish schedules and methods for providing engineering services, identify resource needs, review needs with appropriate management staff, and allocate resources accordingly.
• Participate in the development of policies and procedures, monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, and make recommendations for changes and improvement to existing standards and procedures.

• Review and approve changes to approved plans and specifications and process a variety of permits.
• Exercise professional engineering judgment in accordance with current accepted practice of civil engineering and appropriate laws and codes.

Under general direction of the Ferry Maintenance Manager, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive maintenance job plans for our fleet of passenger ferries and facilities. The Ferry Maintenance Planner is responsible for all aspects of the planning process with the goal of improving workforce productivity and work quality by eliminating potential delays and obstacles. This position is also responsible for analyzing and interpreting data and preparing correspondence and reports with recommendations to management.

Essential Responsibilities

• Works with store room and procurement personnel to ensure parts availability in line with maintenance work plans and schedules.
• Uses work order data and job plans to optimize on-hand inventory, identify and maintain sufficient critical spares inventory
• Coordinates with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair services.
• Ensures contractors are notified of any safety requirements prior to arrival on site.
• Reviews work order actuals (parts, labor, requisitions) data prior to records being closed.
• Identifies trends, optimize maintenance work plans, and improve overall maintenance efficiency by finding and eliminating defects in process and design.
• Prepares reports and documentation related to maintenance activities including work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment records. 
• Ensures compliance with all relevant safety regulations, industry standards and Ferry Division Safety Management System.
• Assists in the development and implementation of training programs for maintenance staff.
• Stays updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in Reliability Centered Maintenance.
• Undertakes improvement initiatives to support maintenance performance.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

• Associate degree in a related technical field. Qualifying Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of education
• Four (4) years of experience in industrial or transportation maintenance, preferably in the maritime industry.  
• Experience in using a Computerized Maintenance Management System, CMMS (IBM Maximo Preferred)
• Experience at an advanced level preforming maintenance-based planning (Labor, materials, tools, impact to operations) and technical administrative responsibilities is desirable. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency using advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database software; prepare analysis, presentations, and spreadsheets using Excel.

Required License: 

Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record.  

Physical Requirement: 

Working inside and outside in all weather conditions. Work around fumes, odors and dust in an occasionally high noise level environment. Ability to access and inspect all above and below deck spaces and voids. Ability to travel to District facilities. Routine use of computer, telephone and other office equipment.

• Maintenance practices and principles in the maritime environment
• Occupational health and safety rules and working practices applicable to this position.
• Asset Management & Reliability Centered Maintenance Principles
• USCG regulations for small passenger vessels
• Marine transportation & public transit functions
• Marine systems, including propulsion, electrical, HVAC, and hydraulic systems.

• Work in a team environment that includes crafts, supervisors, engineers and management
• Build collaborative and trusted relationships with the maintenance team as a resource for various maintenance activities.
