POSITION INFORMATION

The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) is dedicated to providing part time, play-based, child-centered, educational preschool programs for children ages 1-5 years old. We recognize that parent involvement is a key to a child’s success. Parents/guardians participate at all times during our Toddler classes and on a monthly basis in our Preschool programs.

LARPD’s  Associate Teacher- Preschool is responsible for creating a warm and nurturing relationship with each child. The  Associate Teacher-  Preschool encourages parent participation, designs an environment that stimulates curiosity, and utilizes a dynamic curriculum that is grounded in hands-on exploration and play.

This classification is responsible for planning and implementing curriculum and instructional activities for Youth Services programs and ensuring a safe environment for participants.  Incumbents in this classification rely on experience and judgment to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the assigned program area.  Incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver services.  Work is typically reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plans, maintains, and implements a diverse range of curriculum activities, lesson plans, and positive child development strategies for Youth Services to ensure a positive and safe learning environment.

3. Prepares and serves snacks based on established guidelines; performs clean-up and food storage duties.
4. Assists with child assessments and environmental rating scales.
5. Provides resource information to participants; receives and responds to questions, concerns, and complaints from parents, public, and school personnel; determines issues and resolves or refers to higher-level staff as appropriate.
6. Opens, secures, and cleans program areas before and after program use; prepares program areas for scheduled activities and events.
7. Monitors equipment and facilities for cleanliness and safety; reports and recommends maintenance and repair as needed.
8. Assists with monitoring inventory and supplies.
9. Performs administrative tasks, such as attending and scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining records.
10. Assists with staff training; participates in required training sessions, including safety drills and other emergency procedures; performs all work in a safe manner in accordance with policies and procedures.
11. May participate in parent meetings, public relations, outreach, and community education activities.
12. Assists with District special events as needed.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

 
ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS
Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels.  May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions.  May be exposed to communicable illnesses, blood, and body fluids.  Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents may be assigned an irregular work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and holidays.

Must possess:  mobility to perform moderate physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio.  The classification supports indoor and outdoor programs requiring frequent walking, running, conducting exercises, and related physical activities.  Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, or tools and equipment used in assigned program area.  Program activities may require sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; the ability to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED, and 12 units in child development, or 6-9 units and currently enrolled in college level coursework in child development.
• Six months relevant experience working in a childcare facility.

AC Transit is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Budget Manager. This position serves as the overall management of the district budget. Under general direction, plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the activities of the Budget unit of the Finance department, including short- and long-range operating and capital budgets and coordinates District-wide budget activities with other departments. REPRESENTATIVE FUNCTIONS:

• Plans, organizes, and directs Budget unit activities including the annual operating budget and long-range forecasting.
• Develops Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), policies and procedures for the Budget unit. Assigns, delegates, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff. Coordinates staff training, and implements progressive discipline as needed.
• Provides financial forecasting and economic analysis to District departments and Executive staff, including feasibility studies and cost analysis.
• Reviews District-wide budget performance throughout the fiscal year, extracts data from District's Peoplesoft enterprise business system, identifies variances, and recommends allocations or reductions.
• Uses District's Prophix budget planning and reporting system in creating budgets, reporting on financial information, and assisting departments in monitoring their financial performance, and manages development, use, and access of the system.
• Coordinates unit activities with those of other Finance department units, other District departments, and outside agencies and organizations.
• Assist the Department Director with Union negotiations.
• • Consults with Executive Staff on a continual basis to determine the financial impact of alternative financial decisions.Develops and implements actions and strategies to address economic fluctuations.
• Represents the Finance department, and the District in a variety of inter-agency, governmental, and public forums. Prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
• Reports to the Board of Directors as required.
• Administers the activities, and reviews the work of external consultants.
• Answers questions and provides financial and budget information to District Staff, and the public.
• May be required to temporarily act in the position of the Department Director and may be required to perform some or all of the senior staff member's essential functions in such situations.
• Evaluate budgeting procedures in order to develop and implement new processes and technologies to support the Budget unit's operational tasks.
• Work with staff on the evaluation, implementation and testing of business systems for the District.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in economics, finance, business administration, accounting, or a related field.

Experience: Equivalent to at least six (6) years of increasing responsibility in budget development and administration, including five (5) years of verifiable supervisory experience.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience with PeopleSoft, strong communication and analytical skills, detail oriented, experienced in Excel and navigating in systems to generate reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED, or currently enrolled in child development Regional Occupational Program (ROP).
• Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is desirable.

The Payroll Administrator provides supervision over the operations and services of technical and clerical payroll support staff to ensure timely and accurate payment to the District's employees and retirees; participates in the daily operations and activities of the payroll function in the Finance Department, including all phases of the payroll processing, payroll recordkeeping, and various payroll related reporting activities. • Assists in performing a variety of system set-up, configuration and maintenance activities including performing audits of the payable time and exceptions; maintain and monitor the time and labor system set-up tables and resolve issues.
• Reviews payroll computations to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal tax regulations.
• Assists in assembling materials, analyzing, and preparing PBC's ("prepared by client") schedules per auditor request and specifications.
• Creates and provides various queries, necessary for the creation of financial reports on an ad-hoc basis by extracting, compiling, analyzing, and formatting financial data.
• Implementation of new systems or system enhancements, including coordinating with affected departments.
• Attends and participates in professional group meetings and committees; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of payroll processing and time reporting, stays abreast of federal, state, and local regulations and related to wage and hour laws to ensure the District's compliance.
• Maintains and audits control logs for check disbursements.
• May act in the role, and assume the responsibilities of the Payroll Manager in his/her absence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.

Experience: Four (4) years of recent and verifiable professional payroll experience or related field and one (1) year experience in a supervisory/lead capacity.

The Schools Sustainability Associates (SSAs) provide opportunities for teachers, students and schools-based groups to directly contribute to the sustainability of their school and community by providing educational tours at our two Education Transfer Stations, in-class teacher training and instructional support for student action projects that enable elementary, middle, and high school classrooms and student groups throughout Alameda County. Teaching a curriculum to students, while modeling lessons for teachers, students are engaged in sustainability issues through an educational approach which may include: an introduction of environmental principles, student-led environmental waste audits of school and home resource use, activities for student action to reduce the school’s environmental footprint, outreach and education by students to the larger community, and reflection on and celebration of progress and achievements. In addition, SSAs may work and collaborate on agency initiatives, like school infrastructure, provide technical assistance and training to diverse audiences and promote campaigns, such as the agency’s Stop Food Waste community outreach campaign, and Carbon Farming projects. School Sustainability Associates work in a fast-paced team environment at schools, at the educational field trip centers, residences, at the agency, and in multiple community venues.

The position(s) receive day-to-day direction from a StopWaste Program Manager and Project Coordinators and reports to work at the StopWaste agency office and/or the Educational Field Trip Centers as assigned. Candidate must be willing to travel to school sites throughout the county on a weekly basis.

Site Supervisor Qualifications:

10. As site supervisor, help with administrative office duties.
11. As site supervisor, help with schedules, gives tours, and assists with enrollment of new students.
12. Interact with the parents/public in a positive and courteous manner, both on the  phone and in person.
13. Work with the director in completing yearly employee evaluations.
14. Attend all after hour staff and parent meetings or special events.
15. Work with the Director in short term and long term staffing assignments, scheduling substitutes when necessary.
