Individuals in this class may have minimal direct experience and will work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks. As an incumbent’s responsibilities and breadth of knowledge increase and as they gain experience, they can reasonably expect the complexity of their assignments and/or responsibility to increase. General supervision is provided by a higher level professional or management position.  A Recreation Leader may provide lead direction to part-time or seasonal employees if applicable. Under the general direction of the Recreation Supervisor or the Parks & Recreation Director. with project oversight by Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader assists with developing, organizing, implementing, and leading a broad range of recreational activities and programs for all ages designed to meet the community needs and performs other related work required.

The City of Vacaville is accepting applications for the position of Legal Services Manager in the City Attorney's Office. Currently, one (1) vacancy exists but this recruitment will also establish an eligibility list to be used for any future vacancies over the next 12-month period.

The Legal Services Manager oversees the administrative and legal support staff and operations of the City Attorney's Office. This role manages legal service processes and projects and coordinates with outside counsel, consultants, agencies and courts. The Legal Services Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient office operations and effective legal services delivery to City departments, City Council, and City Commissions. Duties within this role include, but are not limited to: 

• Develop and oversee policies and procedures and efficient workflows for litigation and claims served on the City, including City department and staff notification, preparing/reviewing correspondence and templates for legal documents, establishing calendaring systems and working closely with in-house attorneys, outside counsel, and the City’s third-party claims administrator.  
• Manage and oversee “Legal Files,” the City Attorney’s Office’s law office management software program, including establishing proper naming conventions, ensuring proper identification of files and documents and accurate data entry, calendaring relevant claims and litigation dates and deadlines.
• Daily management of the “City Attorney General Mailbox” including reviewing and responding to email requests and distributing items to the appropriate office staff.
• Oversee and manage the City Attorney’s Office budget, review and approve/distribute invoices, reconcile invoices regularly and serve as contract manager for the office’s service and supply contracts.
• Direct involvement in recruiting and hiring administrative support staff including preparing or assisting with application information, reviewing submitted applications and participating on interview panels.

The City of Healdsburg is seeking a full-time Senior Project Manager to join the Public Works Department. This position will have a primary focus on the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The salary range for the Senior Project Manager position is $118,450.43 - $144,532.78 annually. In addition to a competitive salary, retirement through CalPERS and generous benefits package, you may be eligible for a hiring incentive and relocation assistance:

• Up to $2,500 upon hire and $2,500 upon successful completion of probation.
• Relocation Assistance up to $2,500 for candidates outside of a 100-mile radius of the city.

The City of Livermore is currently accepting applications for the position of Neighborhood Preservation Officer.  This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. This position will be required to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of their 5 working days per week.

Under general supervision of the Inspection and Neighborhood Preservation Manager, the Neighborhood Preservation Officer seeks public compliance with Municipal Code sections, ordinances, and resolutions in such areas as planning, zoning, signs, community nuisance, business license, and related areas; and performs other duties as assigned. The incumbent will have a broad range of knowledge and independence within general parameters in the application of field investigations, evidence collection and violation resolution in the enforcement of municipal regulatory processes.

• Investigates reported violations of municipal codes, ordinances, and resolutions
• Seeks abatement of violations through education and voluntary compliance or through direct enforcement activities including the issuance of infraction citations
• Educates the public regarding requirements

• Prepares reports regarding violations
• Prepares and gives presentations for Administrative Hearings, Planning Commission, City Council or courts of law

Park Services Officer Aide (Part-Time/Unbenefited)

$24.74 - $31.57 an hour

 As a Park Services Officer Aide, you will:  

• Drive to different park locations and assist in the daily operations and maintenance of park facilities and grounds. 
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents of vandalism, and other related conditions. 
• Provide exceptional customer service to park visitors, answering questions, providing information, and first aid to ill or injured visitors.
• Tactfully and effectively enforce park rules, issue warnings and citations.
• Participate in various park programs and events.
• Perform routine tasks such as litter collection, restroom cleaning, weeding, watering and trail maintenance.
• Learn and apply new skills related to park operations and maintenance.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate loves working outdoors in various weather conditions, possesses strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor, is flexible and willing to learn new tasks and skills, and can work independently and as part of a team. Basic knowledge of park operations and maintenance is a plus but not required.

Work Schedule: This is a 20-24 hours per week position. The regular work schedule is Thursday and Friday; weekend work may be occasionally required. This position is limited to up to 1000 hours per year. However, employment might end sooner, depending on the needs of the hiring department. Extra-help positions are paid hourly and are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment. 

Essential Responsibilities
Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Actively engage with the public to provide excellent customer service, anticipate customer needs and deliver services in a timely and respectful manner.
• Patrols parks or trails and other public recreational area.
• Provide information and direct visitors to appropriate park areas.
• Develop and participate in interpretive programs.
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents of vandalism, and other related conditions.
• Interpret and apply oral or written material/instructions.
• Prepare reports and maintain records of activities; may make recommendations on relevant subjects such as modifications to equipment or facilities to reduce vandalism or improve safety.
• Tactfully and effectively enforce rules and regulations governing facilities. Issue warnings and code citations, directs traffic, enforce park rules as necessary.
• Assist ill or injured park visitors until proper medical aid arrives.
• Operate a motor vehicle or motorized maintenance equipment.
• Conduct light maintenance activities (e.g., repairing, making and installing signs, fences, etc.).
• Perform watering, weeding, pesticide applications, pruning, trash control and perform minor repairs and custodial maintenance.
• Operate light motorized equipment including, but not limited to, pick-up trucks, dump trucks, power mowers, sprayers and tractors. 
• May occasionally operate heavier and more complex equipment.
• Ensure compliance with park rules, codes and ordinances.
• Work weekends, holidays, or other irregular hours.
• May direct the work of other employees on an intermittent or project basis.
• May direct the work of volunteer service organizations on an intermittent or project basis.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

Required Education, Experience and Training
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and ability is qualifying.  
 

• Candidates selected for this position must have a valid California driver's license or equivalent and be at least 18 years old on the hire date.  
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
  • Policies, procedures, and safety regulations related to the assigned park location; safety hazards and equipment related to park and open space environments; and driving and operating automobiles and light trucks. 
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Essential techniques, tools, and equipment used in park maintenance and management. Principles and practices of first aid and safety.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant Planner! In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist higher-level planners in Land Use or Transportation by collecting data, performing research, and preparing reports.

In the Land Use Division of the Planning Department, incumbents are responsible for: Tracking permit activity; Researching zoning history, land use policies, development trends, and precedents; Supporting commission meetings; Preparing written reports and presenting to commissions, committees, community members, and other boards; Assisting in preparing amendments to the General Plan, Municipal Code, and/or other policy and procedure documents. Applicants will be expected to use a variety of software to maintain and update electronic forms, databases, and records, as well as creating maps and graphics in GIS and Adobe Creative Suite.

In the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department, incumbents are responsible for: Assisting with research, planning, conceptual design, and delivery of transportation and parking projects; drafting public notification materials, assisting with organizing and/or attending outreach events, and conducting in-person outreach; producing maps and graphics for transportation projects and parking operations; assisting with the City's coordination and monitoring of privately-operated shared mobility programs, including bicycle sharing and scooter sharing; assisting with preparation of transportation plans and policy documents, including the Pedestrian Master Plan Update, transportation impact analysis guidelines, and Complete Streets Policy implementation guidelines; and supporting the ongoing operation of the City's demand-based parking pricing program (goBerkeley), including conducting periodic data collection, analyzing data in Excel and GIS, and assisting with preparation of parking policy documents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this classification is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major coursework in city, regional, or urban planning, or a closely related field. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

A valid California driver's license is desirable. Must be able to attend evening meetings as required.

About Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (HHPZ): This is a 16-acre amusement park and Association of Zoo's & Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoo located in San José, California. HHPZ is open year-round catering to families with children. It operates nine amusement park rides, showcases various endangered species, and operates one of the oldest classical puppet theaters in California, as well as offering many other playgrounds and attractions emphasizing play and imagination in a natural conservation setting.

About Zookeeper Full Time/Part Time: The position performs work involving the care and feeding of zoo, domestic farm, and/or non-domestic animals and maintenance of enclosures, grounds and service areas; working with animals under all types of climatic conditions to prepare them for presentations, training, capture and restraint, basic husbandry, and behavioral enrichment. In addition, responding to general questions from the public regarding non-domestic and/or domestic animals.

Please note that schedules can vary every week or be on an "on call" basis depending on knowledge, training, and experience with specific animal routines. These positions will be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, during all climactic conditions as assigned and must have the ability to enter animal areas and perform physical work (including lifting objects up to 50 lbs.).
