The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. ABOUT THE POSITION: Office Assistant I will receive immediate direction from the Senior Administrative Assistant, with additional direction given by the Business Services Supervisor. They provide a variety of clerical support and perform a wide range of customer service-related tasks in a fast paced, high touch environment. This position requires the ability to multi-task and respond to multiple requests from customers with professionalism and courtesy.

SCHEDULE: Staff will have the schedule flexibility to work weekday, weekend, early morning and evening shifts.  Staff may be asked to cover additional, unscheduled shifts due to absences by other Office Assistants.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the shift Supervisor, places and removes traffic tubes in roadway as needed for traffic diversion on Bridge and in Toll Plaza. Cleans and polishes District vehicles, cleans and services traffic tubes and restrooms, works varied hours and shifts, assists Shift Supervisor as needed and performs other duties as required.

• AM shifts: 6:00am – 2:00pm
• Swing Shifts: 1:30pm – 9:30pm

Essential Responsibilities

• Relocates traffic tubes for reversal of traffic on Bridge and in Plaza

• Cleans and polishes District vehicles and assist in servicing District vehicles

The Department: 

The Purchasing Division resides in the City's Finance Department and maintains a "centralized purchasing system" that is responsible for all purchasing and contracting activity for supplies, materials, and equipment as well as general and professional services.  The Division also operates a Central Warehouse, with over 3,000 inventory items primarily to support the City's utility departments (Silicon Valley Power and the Water and Sewer Departments). The Division is also responsible for the disposition of surplus property and the City mailroom.

The Division will soon expand its warehouse operations with the opening of a second warehouse to support Silicon Valley Power’s infrastructure projects. This recruitment is to fill the Chief Storekeeper position that will manage operations at the current central warehouse, as the incumbent Chief Storekeeper will be transitioning over to the new warehouse.

The Position: 

The Chief Storekeeper is a classified position responsible for overseeing day-to-day warehouse operations, including:

DESCRIPTION:

The City of Santa Clara is seeking to fill multiple Principal Engineer positions to perform high-level civil engineering tasks to manage and support capital improvement projects. Projects can range across water, sewer, storm systems, public-right-of-way infrastructure, transportation infrastructure planning and implementation, parks and recreation facilities, and other city-owned infrastructure. Under direct supervision of the Department Director or Assistant Director, the Principal Engineer will work independently as a hands-on contributor to the engineering team’s work and will be in charge of engineering, construction, maintenance, and related activities. Principal Engineers may also have responsibility for the quality and quantity of the work of an engineering unit, as well as other supervisory duties, as distinguished from the lower level of Engineering classifications.  

 

Water and Sewer Utilities Department

The Water and Sewer Utilities Department plans, designs, constructs, maintains, and operates the City’s water distribution system, sewer collection system, and recycled water system. These three utilities operate independently and charge rates to recover the costs of providing these services to Santa Clara residents and businesses, including capital investment in City infrastructure and funding needed for adequate reserves.

In 2023, the Water Utility produced and distributed approximately six billion gallons of water to approximately 26,000 service connections, delivered through approximately 335 miles of water main. Of the total potable water supply, 62% is obtained from City wells, 18% and 20% treated surface water is provided by wholesalers Valley Water and San Francisco Public Utilities Commission respective.  Recycled water delivered through the South Bay Water Recycling system makes up 20% of the total water supply in the City. 

The Sewer Utility operates and maintains 270 miles of a sanitary sewage collection system that collects and conveys wastewater to the San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility (RWF) for treatment and disposal. Santa Clara is a 20% owner in the RWF with the City of San Jose owning 80% of the facility.  The Sewer Utility maintains 7 sewer pump stations, assists the Department of Public Works in the operation and maintenance of 22 storm pump stations, and performs other critical services. The Principal Engineer will be responsible for staff supervision, budget preparation and monitoring, project oversight, consultant and contractor management and administration, project database oversight, community outreach, project programming and reporting, presentations at the City committees, commissions, and Council, staff mentoring and training and assuring all projects are being implemented and constructed in accordance with plans, specifications, and standards. The qualified candidate will have experience both supervising and working in a team environment on major construction projects, including working collaboratively with contractors, technicians, utility operations staff, outside agency staff, and the public.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Participating in implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of the Planning Division;
• Review and manage current planning applications such as design review, conditional use permits, administrative permits, environment documents of various scales and complexities;
• Able to manage multiple planning projects independently while working effectively with other City departments, developers, and community members;
• Providing technical assistance to the public regarding planning matters, including assisting at the public counter;
• Reviewing architectural and construction plans, development applications, and preparing comprehensive written and oral reports;
• Attending meetings and making presentations before the Planning Commission and/or City Council, as required;
• Perform advance planning assignments such as Zoning code amendments, General Plan amendments, Specific Plans, Housing Element implementation, and various other assignments;
• Establishing good working relationships and working cooperatively with all City departments; and
• Participating in zoning code enforcement as necessary; and other duties as assigned.

DEFINITION

Under the general direction of the Director and City Engineer, the Civil Engineering Associate/Project Manager – Capital Projects leads the delivery of complex capital infrastructure and facility projects for the Town of Danville.  This role focuses on high-value construction and modernization projects, including buildings, utilities, and public infrastructure. The position serves as a critical liaison between Town departments, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to ensure successful execution of capital projects within scope, schedule, and budget.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Director and City Engineer. Exercises supervision over Public Works Inspectors and contractors.  This is a journeyman-level, first line supervisory position requiring substantial independent judgment, technical expertise, and leadership in managing capital improvement projects. The position reports to the City Engineer and may supervise professional and technical staff. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Train, direct and manage Public Works Inspectors to perform and document daily inspections of construction projects, private development projects, encroachment permits and clean water inspections to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, permit conditions of approval and Town standards.
• Oversee day-to-day operations for paving construction projects ensuring project is completed safely, on schedule, according to quality specified and within budget.
• Plans, organizes, directs and controls all parts of projects from permitting, bidding, and construction to the closeout for a portfolio of complex capital improvement projects.
• Prepares and monitors project budgets, including support for obtaining funding.
• Facilitates work of a multi-disciplinary development team across organizational boundaries, including designers and construction professionals.
• Develops and maintains detailed project schedules and budgets, tracks expenditures, and recommends cost control strategies.
• Reviews and processes change orders, ensures quality control, and oversees contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
• Prepares reports, presentations, and communications to inform internal and external stakeholders, including Town Council.
• Ensures that contractors are maintaining safe work sites and that the needs of the staff at each project are being protected.
• Coordinates final project closeout including punch list items, documentation, and transfer to operations.
• Manages consultant contracts and coordinates with engineers, architects, construction managers, and inspectors.
• Facilitates cross-departmental coordination and public outreach related to project scope, impacts, and progress.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Financing, estimating and budgeting, including planning and estimating, calculating overhead, design and construction costs.  General knowledge of various funding sources and restrictions.
• Regulations and regulatory agencies and commissions affecting planning, zoning, design and construction.
• Requirements of final bid packages.
• Construction management techniques and practices.
• Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibilities Guidelines (ADAAG), and California accessibility requirements that are in Title 24 of California Code of Regulations.
• Principles and practices of capital project delivery, including public procurement and contract management.
• Public works design and construction standards, codes, regulations, and funding programs.
• Construction methods and materials across civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
• CEQA and permitting processes at local and state levels.
• Knowledge of planning and building department review process for capital improvement projects.

Ability to:

• Schedule and budget capital projects; monitor and track project progress and expenditures and implement cost controls.
• Use computer-based scheduling software, documentation management, and project management systems.
• Work effectively in a team environment; negotiate and resolve contract disputes; maintain client contractor relationships; and communicate effectively with the public, community groups, other Town departments, stakeholders, agencies, and private contractors.
• Supervise, prepare, or participate in the design and production of final architectural contract documents for a wide variety of small construction and maintenance projects.

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)

Possession of a California State Driver’s License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The County Executive’s Office is seeking a Management Analyst to join the Office of Budget, Policy & Performance (BP&P) — a team at the core of the County’s budgetary operations and strategic planning.

This is more than a budget job — it's an opportunity to build technical expertise, lead high-impact projects, and work closely with County leadership. The position is open to both external candidates as a Limited Term position and current County employees through a Work-Out-of-Class assignment (up to 18 months).

This is a Limited Term position.  Limited term positions are full-time, fully benefited, temporary positions.  The current position is funded for up to 18 months and could extend longer depending on the department’s needs.  Limited Term employees receive medical and dental benefits, like regular employees, and a defined contribution retirement plan (401-A).

ABOUT THE UNIT

The BP&P unit manages the County’s $5 billion budget, oversees performance reporting, coordinates fiscal policy, and leads strategic initiatives across departments. Analysts are deeply involved in building the County’s operating and capital budgets from the ground up — gathering data, consulting with departments, evaluating requests, and helping shape budget strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Budget Development and Creation

• Collaborate with assigned departments to build detailed annual and mid-cycle operating and capital budgets.
• Provide departments with guidance on budget assumptions, salary and benefits projections, and cost containment strategies.
• Analyze revenue forecasts, expenditure plans, and fund balances to ensure accurate, balanced budgets.
• Draft budget documents, schedules, narrative justifications, and presentations for leadership and the Board of Supervisors.
• Monitor departmental compliance with budget policy, timelines, and reporting standards.
• Support the County’s transition to enhanced or new budget platforms and tools.

Fiscal Policy and System Support

• Lead or contribute to major budget system administration efforts, including testing, implementation, training, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain accuracy and consistency of budget data across departments using a variety of systems and Excel-based tools.
• Use financial models and data visualization to highlight trends, risks, and opportunities.

Strategic and Analytical Work

• Evaluate fiscal implications of department proposals and develop funding recommendations.
• Produce reports, dashboards, and decision packages that support executive decision-making.
• Support capital planning, resource allocation, and long-term financial forecasting.
• Conceive of and execute analytical projects for County Executives and the Board of Supervisors.

Performance and Project Management

• Track program and policy performance across departments to ensure alignment with fiscal priorities.
• Coordinate and manage special projects, including the Children, Youth & Family Budget, Youth Commission, Lean improvement initiatives, and Measure K funding allocations.
• Engage with stakeholders at all levels to implement policy and funding strategies.

• Has direct experience in public budget development and preparation, including salary projections, multi-year forecasting, and funding analysis, finance, and/or accounting or an interest in and aptitude for these types of work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying, unless otherwise specified. A typical way to qualify is: 

• A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, finance, political science, or related field plus three years of analyst experience; OR
• A master’s degree in the same fields plus one year of analyst experience; OR
• Five years of progressively responsible analyst experience in a public or nonprofit agency.

Knowledge of

• Public budgeting and financial management processes in government.
• Financial reporting, cost accounting, and multi-year forecasting.
• ERP or similar systems, Excel modeling, and data presentation tools.
• Local government operations and interdepartmental coordination.

Skill/Ability to

• Independently manage the full lifecycle of departmental budget development.
• Interpret and explain complex financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Work collaboratively with department fiscal officers, executives, and elected officials.
• Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive budget documents and reports.
• Adapt to evolving budget systems and processes.
