The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. These classifications require shift work and the ability to make decisions and act appropriately in stressful situations. This position will perform a variety of responsible law enforcement and crime prevention work, including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls and complaints, investigating crimes, serving civil papers, and providing court room security; enforce all federal and state laws and local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs routine patrol duties, including but not limited to patrolling assigned areas of the County; responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance; investigating disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, vehicle accidents and other crimes; checking buildings for physical security, etc.

• Administers first aid in emergency situations.

• Issues traffic citations.

• Serves warrants, subpoenas and civil documents.

We are seeking two outgoing and community-oriented individuals to join our Public Works department as temporary, part-time and/or substitute Crossing Guards. This rewarding and impactful position safely assists school children in crossing busy intersections by halting vehicles through the use of mechanical signals and/or hand-held stop signs; maintains order among children waiting to cross the street at street crossing points; permits street crossing only when safe to do so; reports the license numbers of vehicles violating school crosswalk-related traffic laws to Community Services management personnel or the Simi Valley Police Department; and, instills an awareness in school children of safety measures necessary for safe street crossing. 

Pay rate for this position is $16.00 hourly

Hearing levels meeting these requirements in the better ear either with or without a hearing aid will be acceptable. If an individual meets the criteria by using a hearing aid, then he/she must wear that hearing aid and be in possession of a spare power source for the hearing aid.

The Novato Sanitary District is seeking an organized, collaborative, and fast-learning Administrative Services Technician to support a wide range of essential administrative services functions, such as risk management, human resources, purchasing, record management, and general administration. Under general direction of the Administrative Services Manager, the Administrative Services Technician is a confidential position that provides paraprofessional, technical, administrative, and secretarial support to District programs and services. The Administrative Services Technician learns and then applies procedural, program, and compliance knowledge; assumes ongoing, technical responsibilities specific to assigned areas, such as risk management and record management; works with departments and outside agencies to coordinate assigned programs, projects, and services; and performs research and routine analysis on a wide variety of special projects.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate has experience in either of two backgrounds. The first is a background in providing journey-level clerical or technical support in the public or private sector that included interpreting and explaining complex rules and regulations, researching information, and preparing accurate documents and reports. Alternatively, the second is a background in providing advanced office support that included data entry and the processing of forms and records.

In addition to one of these two backgrounds, the ideal candidate is curious and enjoys learning about new systems and functions at a technical level. They appreciate when careful precision and accuracy is necessary to complete a task. The ideal candidate is open to helping with functions and tasks that they are not familiar with and will seek out resources and guidance to better understand the function and complete the task accurately. They are also proactive in identifying needs, developing and recommending solutions, and ensuring the solution is fully implemented.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: A combination of training and experience that demonstrates that a person has obtained the required knowledge and is able to perform the essential duties of the position. A person with the following combined training and experience would typically qualify to compete in a selection process:

• Equivalent to graduation from high school and four (4) years of increasingly responsible journey-level clerical or technical support experience which included responsibility for interpreting and explaining complex rules and regulations, researching information, and preparing accurate documents and reports, or advanced office support work that included data entry and the processing of forms and records.

Other Requirements:

• Valid California motor vehicle driver's license and good driving record

The Extra Help Employee - BH (Harmony House Coach) position provides support, education, and advocacy to persons receiving services through the Mental Health Services Act. The Harmony House Coach may also provide a variety of services related to the operations of the Harmony House Drop-In Center and the Full-Service Partnership Program.
