Summary:
Under general supervision, monitors and maintains the District’s central reservation system and main­tains schedules for outdoor facilities including fields, parks and picnic areas; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains reservation system for the District comprising of outdoor and indoor spaces; manages mobile staging and equipment to include establishing reservation reschedules, posting schedules online, and providing direct oversight of outdoor space usage.
• Responds to online, telephone and in-person inquiries from the public and co-workers, receives web and paper reservation applications, reviews applications for proper use of space according to District guidelines, determines approval/rejection of applications, notifies applicants of decisions, and files documents for recordkeeping.
• Assists in authorizing permits for private and public entities, reviews permit holder’s evidence of insurance, submits and files insurance forms.
• Accepts payments from permit holders including deposits for space, processes payments for accounting purposes, obtains information on after-use condition of facilities, determines amount of refunds, providing justification as needed if part or all of refund is withheld, and processes deposit refunds as appropriate.
• Accurately processes monetary transactions including credit card transactions, issues receipts, reconciles cash and receipts, and prepares bank deposits.
• Researches, studies and interprets city and District rules and regulations related to use of public facilities, provides expert knowledge of space availability, codes and ordinances to the public on use of facilities.
• Assists with troubleshooting issues related to functionality of reservation software program, receives feedback on reservation system, and proposes modifications to program to enhance user experience.
• Distributes printed and posted material related to reservations in marketing efforts.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• May drive a District or personal vehicle.
• Participates during disasters or when emergency response is needed.
• Non-exempt employees may be required to work overtime.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: an associate degree from a two-year college and one year of increasingly responsible clerical experience with frequent public contact; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read, interpret and relay information obtained from documents such as ordinances relating to public use of facilities, understand operating instructions in spoken and written formats, and execute protocols and apply standard procedures per manuals. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms. Ability to write routine reports and interact with the public in a positive manner. Ability to speak Spanish is desirable

Math Ability:Ability to use basic math to perform tasks such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers and common fractions and decimals, and prepare bank forms.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to exercise common-sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written or oral form. Ability to synthesize necessary information related to encounters with the public and District customers in the course of work. 

Other Required Skills: Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel, type on a standard keyboard, navigate various office computer applications, operate a calculator, fax machine and other office equipment.

Certificates and Licenses:

• First Aid & CPR/AED within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.

The Department

The Suisun City Fire Department was established in 1861. The men and women of SCFD take great pride in the customer service that they provide to all who live, work and travel through Suisun City. SCFD is a mission-driven fire agency that remains focused on customers and safety. It is our goal that all members strive to attain a synergistic balance of education, training, and experience to provide excellent emergency management on every call. SCFD is a combination agency staffed with both full-time and volunteer fire personnel. We currently operate two Type 1 Fire Engines, one Type 3 Fire Engine, Ladder Truck, three Command Vehicles, one Type 5 Fire Engine, Zodiac Rescue Boats, and one USAR Trailer. The Suisun City Fire Department is an ALS (Paramedic) level department, supported by Medic Ambulance for transport services. Station 47 is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Position

The ideal candidate would know and be responsible for performance of the full scope of assigned fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical care responsibilities, and for the protection of life and property. New incumbents may have limited related experience but are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities, perform duties with minimal direct supervision, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions. Firefighters work a 48/96 work schedule, comprised of two 24-hour shifts followed by four 24-hour days off, averaging 56 hours per week.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is recruiting for a Program Coordinator in the Recreation Division of our Library and Recreation Department.  This position is responsible for overseeing operations of the Terra Linda Community Pool, including hiring, training, scheduling of temp/seasonal lifeguards, swim instructors, cashiers for approximately 100 employees, for a 9-month pool season.  The Program Coordinator will develop, implement, and oversee programing for the pool and be responsible for developing the pool schedule.  An understanding of safety, customer service, managing relationships with user groups, problem solving, and leadership skills are important for this program area.  Although an aquatics background is preferred, it is not required at time of hire.  The Program Coordinator will also support the Terra Linda Community Center with program development, special events, rentals, customer service, marketing and other tasks as assigned. 

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to and may vary with assignment):

• Provides direction to and supervises regular, temporary and volunteer staff, including selecting, monitoring, training, scheduling and determining workloads; assists with hiring, disciplinary and evaluation processes.
• Assists in the development, recommendation and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the assigned department division(s).
• Participates in the preparation and administration of an assigned recreation center or specialized recreation program budget.
• Plans, evaluates and coordinates programs, classes, athletic activities and special events, including scheduling facilities, ensuring facilities are set up, scheduling trips and hiring coaches.
• Monitors the day-to-day operations of programs and events, including making site visits, handling and resolving complaints not requiring the attention of a supervisor and ensuring that programs and events have required materials and supplies.
• Formulates and organizes program plans and schedules for seasonal and year-round activities and special events. 
• Acts as liaison and representative with a variety of advisory boards, commissions, community groups, law enforcement agencies, schools and councils.
• Creates program flyers, brochures, catalogs and newsletters, including determining content, layout, materials and distribution methods; prepares activity and operating reports.
• Enforces safety and operating procedures and provides for maintenance needs including compliance with health and safety codes and building codes.
• Books facility rentals for customers; attends to facility users needs, including permits and equipment; prints weekly event schedule and ensures that all setups are done, manages facility budget, including maintenance and supplies.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

To be eligible for this position you must have knowledge of/ability to:

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Must have American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or obtain within 4 months of hire).
• Must have American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (or obtain within 1 year from time of hire).
• Must have American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (or obtain within 1 year from time of hire).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in recreation administration, physical education, leisure services or a related field AND
• Two (2) years of full-time or its equivalent of recreation experience, OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.

The Novato Sanitary District is seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and goal-driven individual to join our Collection System team as a Collection System Worker (CSW). The District will hire at the level of CSW I or CSW II depending on skills, certifications and licenses held by candidates in the pool of qualified applicants. 

The CSW performs a wide variety of tasks associated with the maintenance of wastewater collection and reclamation systems, including inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs on lines, pump stations, and treatment facilities. The successful candidate will possess experience in general maintenance tasks, including the safe and effective operation of a variety of hand and power tools and equipment. Possession of a commercial driver's license is highly desirable. Experience working with sewer cleaning trucks and equipment is also a plus.

Summary
Under general supervision, assists in organizing, leading and conducting recreational programs and provides highly responsible and technical professional staff assistance in developing and conducting specialized recreational programs; and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, assigns, supervises and participates in a recreation unit of the District typically consisting of part-time employees; organizes and conducts programs in program areas such as fine and performing arts, sports, outdoor activities, therapeutics and inclusion; interprets and communicates District policies to staff and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and District safety regulations; interviews and participates in selecting new staff; establishes performance requirements; regularly monitors, evaluates and addresses performance.
• Contributes to the development of and monitors performance against the program budget; approves purchases and other expenditures in accordance with District policies and procedures.
• Identi­fies, contacts, selects and prepares documents for contract instructors; provides first-level approval and processes contract invoices.
• Prepares written public correspondence, speaks to school and community groups and promotes participation in scheduled activities through marketing plans and outreach efforts.
• Instructs participants in various athletic and recreational activities.
• Coordinates and participates in equipment and vendor selection, physical setup for special activities and the issuing and collecting of materials.

Qualifications

As assigned to Therapeutic Recreation Unit, preferred degree in Therapeutic Recreation and/or two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabili­ties, prefer­ably with ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis); and the ability to learn/imple­ment applicable laws and inclusion methods and practices. Knowledge of principles and techniques pertaining to the specialized program activities and program marketing and evaluation methods; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents in area of expertise, technical proce­dures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence and proce­dure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form. Ability to present information and respond to questions. Ability to speak Spanish is desirable.

Primary Responsibilities

As an integral member of the Human Resources leadership team, this position will contribute insights and expertise on a broad range of Human Resources disciplines and issues.  This role includes managing a team of Risk, Safety, and Talent Development Analysts to ensure effective risk management, municipal claims processing, worker's compensation, insurance, occupational health and safety (OH&S) and talent development programs and initiatives.

This multi-faceted role includes the primary oversight of the following:

Talent Development

• Successfully lead the design, development, implementation, evaluation and sustainability of talent development programs and onboarding programs.
• Assess and make recommendations on the best learning methods for a diverse range of learning needs, including in-person/virtual instructor-led trainings (ILTs), e-learning videos, and more.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to evaluate training needs, and recommend, and develop training solutions, such as incorporating/preparing customized and purchased content.
• Increase organization utilization and integration of the employee Learning Management System.
• Coach and support supervisors and managers in employee learning, talent development, and performance management.
• Develop strategies for leadership transitions and work with departments to identify and develop employees for future leadership positions.

Risk & OH&S

• Drive the development and enhancement of risk management strategies, policies, and OH&S programs to minimize financial exposure and foster a safe workplace.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to proactively manage and reduce risk.
• Assure appropriate analysis of claims and loss data to identify trends and areas for improvement while maintaining claims databases and records.
• Oversee claims data, loss experience, and OH&S performance.
• Stay current on relevant regulations and coordinate with legal counsel as needed to ensure compliance.
• Manage the risk and OH&S function budgets and programs.

We are seeking two outgoing and community-oriented individuals to join our Public Works department as temporary, part-time and/or substitute Crossing Guards. This rewarding and impactful position safely assists school children in crossing busy intersections by halting vehicles through the use of mechanical signals and/or hand-held stop signs; maintains order among children waiting to cross the street at street crossing points; permits street crossing only when safe to do so; reports the license numbers of vehicles violating school crosswalk-related traffic laws to Community Services management personnel or the Simi Valley Police Department; and, instills an awareness in school children of safety measures necessary for safe street crossing. 

Pay rate for this position is $16.00 hourly

Any combination of education and experience, which would provide the necessary knowledge and abilities, along with the following special requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older, have open availability, and be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to remain calm and use good judgment in emergency situations.
• Basic first aid knowledge is desirable.
• Must possess good hearing ability across a frequency range from 500 Hz to 3,000 Hz. Hearing levels meeting these requirements in the better ear either with or without a hearing aid will be acceptable. If an individual meets the criteria by using a hearing aid, then he/she must wear that hearing aid and be in possession of a spare power source for the hearing aid.
• Must possess corrected vision of 20/40 minimum, with no color blindness.
• A medical examination may be required prior to appointment and as a condition of continuing employment with the City.

These are seasonal positions, limited to 1,000 hours worked within a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30) that receive no City benefits.  Job training is anticipated to begin in early May with employment lasting through late Fall.  Shifts will average 8 hours per day/4-5 days per week.  This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience working for one of the finest departments in the State.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Fire Department is seeking customer service and public safety focused individuals to join the wildfire mitigation team. Under supervision, inspectors will perform a variety of wildfire prevention duties with a focus on one-on-one education via property wildfire risk evaluations.  The Inspector’s efforts will support resident compliance with City and State Fire codes.

The customer-service oriented positions will support the City’s and Marin Wildfire Fire Prevention Authorities (MWPA)’s goals. The ideal candidate will be able to connect and inspire individual action among our diverse community by explaining complex concepts in easy-to-understand ways.  Inspectors will utilize tablets and other technology to document findings and interactions in the field.

Our highly qualified candidate will be able to work effectively in small teams or independently and clearly communicate wildfire safety-related information to residents from various backgrounds.  We are looking for people who have sound judgment and can communicate effectively with others.  They will need to be able to follow both verbal and written instructions, engage effectively with the public and work harmoniously with our team. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to the following):    

• Perform defensible space inspections and wildfire risk evaluations in accordance with San Rafael Municipal Code 4.12.
• Investigates public and referred public agency complaints.
• Provide guidance to residents on suggested and required home hardening and defensible space strategies. 
• Provide residents with appropriate support resources and programs.
• Increase awareness, knowledge and actions implemented by individuals and communities to reduce human loss and property damage from wildfires.
• Collects, enters, maintains, and disseminates data pertaining to fire prevention; reconciles reports, files and records.
• Composes letters and reports based on field notes.
• Collect and input data and images into electronic devices.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Communicate clearly and respectfully to residents and stakeholders.
• Learn and apply City and State Fire Codes and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
• Provide clear and concise written reports free of grammar and spelling errors.
• Utilize personal computers, tablets, and related software including the Microsoft Office Suite, mapping, and database tools.
• Independently conduct fire (defensible space) inspections.
• Apply technical knowledge and follow proper inspection techniques.
• Be self-motivated, work independently to complete assigned duties and responsibilities in a timely manner.
• Interpret and explain fire prevention services, policies and procedures.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with stake holders to ensure that assigned fire prevention coordination efforts are successful.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

• In accordance with State legal requirements, applicants must be at least 18 years old by the application filing deadline.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent and any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities in qualifying.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
• A background in customer service or public service.
• Ability to speak, write, and read Spanish is desired but not necessary.

DISASTER SERVICE WORKERS:

All City of San Rafael employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109).  Employment in the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect.  Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
