ABOUT THE POSITION: Office Assistant I will receive immediate direction from the Senior Administrative Assistant, with additional direction given by the Business Services Supervisor. They provide a variety of clerical support and perform a wide range of customer service-related tasks in a fast paced, high touch environment. This position requires the ability to multi-task and respond to multiple requests from customers with professionalism and courtesy.

HOURLY RATE: $18.00 – $25.00 an hour, DOE.

SCHEDULE: Staff will have the schedule flexibility to work weekday, weekend, early morning and evening shifts.  Staff may be asked to cover additional, unscheduled shifts due to absences by other Office Assistants. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Orinda Youth Sports (OYS) program duties include, but are not limited to preparing fields / gyms for games, monitoring game schedules and directing teams to proper field / court, answering questions, and tearing down and cleaning game sites at the end of the day.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licenses/Certificate:  Must be trained in first aid (opportunities for training provided through employment). Training in daily operations is provided. 
  Possession of a valid California Driver's license with a demonstrated history of safe driving
  is desirable.

Licenses/Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED training and/or certification are required.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting for part-time Recreation Leaders II/III assigned to the Adaptive Program. The main goal of the City of Gilroy’s Recreation Division is to offer excellent recreation programs that provide community members with a wide range of opportunities to celebrate life and community through people, parks, programs, and special events which are delivered by a team of employees dedicated to offering quality recreational, social, and cultural services to all Gilroy residents. 
 
Under direct supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader II/III will assist, plan, organize, and lead the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs. Program area focus is Adaptive (Special Needs), but you might be asked to support another recreation area.

 When assigned to the Adaptive Program, the leader will have an opportunity to have hands-on experience working with a special needs population.  Disabilities of participants vary in range from non-communicative to diminished motor skills to severe autism.  The position will report to an experienced staff member.  As related experience is gained as noted in the job qualifications and requirements, and with the recommendation in the employee’s performance evaluation, Recreation Leaders can advance from Recreation Leader II to Recreation Leader III.  As the employee advances through the job series the employee will take on more responsibility and more challenging work assignments.

THE POSITION

Under general supervision, the Recreation Aide assists in the proper use of a community recreational facility and assist Recreation Leaders in providing a variety of recreation programs related to aquatics, preschool, playground, after school programs, parks, teens, sports, special events, and senior citizen activities.

The Recreational Aide position will be assigned to the following area:

Preschool Program: Under general supervision, this assignment assists with organization and instruction of preschool classes for children 18 months through 5 years. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this classification.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.

• Assist in leading recreation activities in program areas such as preschool, playground, parks, teens, sports, special events, and senior citizen activities.
• Assist in carrying out recreational activities appropriate to a variety of locations such as playgrounds, parks, community centers, preschool classrooms, school sites, and sports facilities.
• Assist in leading activities in areas such as arts and crafts, games, sports, music, drama, and nature study.
• Assist in setting up, taking down, and cleaning up recreational facilities; as assigned, open and close facilities as scheduled for use, and secure the facility upon leaving.
• May provide minor first aid to recreation program participants and/or perform related first aid/emergency techniques.

• Inspect playing field area and equipment prior to play to ensure preparation and safety for play to begin.
• Ensure safety of players and spectators.
