About The Position:

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Sheriff’s perform a wide variety of patrol officer and related duties required to effectively respond to and resolve the normal scope of peace situations, including the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, report writing, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public and perform related duties as assigned. Incumbents may be assigned to a specific geographic area for patrol, investigations, crime prevention or other peace officer-related functions. 

This position prepares hot and cold food for inmates; supervises and instructs inmates in the preparation and serving of meals to other inmates in a detention facility; receives, stores, and maintains ingredients used for meals; and monitors and maintains security of the kitchen facility, equipment, and inmate workers. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Checks menus and number of persons to be fed; instructs inmates in obtaining necessary ingredient for meals and preparing work area; instruct inmates in a variety of chopping, cutting, mixing, grating, and food preparation tasks; instructs inmates on the operation of stoves and other equipment.
• Prepares or supervises the preparation of special meals for inmates with medical problems.
• Supervises inmates in the cleaning of all equipment and kitchen work area; counts and keeps logs on all knives. Assists in keeping current inventory of kitchen and food supplies.
• Receives and checks supplies to ensure that proper amounts and types have been delivered; instructs inmates in transporting supplies to proper areas for storage.
   

MAINTENANCE WORKER (Full time)

Working in the Public Works Department, the Maintenance Worker I/II will perform a variety of unskilled, semiskilled and skilled light and heavy duty construction, maintenance and repair work involving public works, sewer and drainage systems, buildings, parking meters, and other facilities.

SALARY RANGE:

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Maintenance Worker I:  This is the entry level class in the maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled maintenance tasks. Although trucks and other motorized equipment may be operated by a Maintenance Worker I, the equipment is used on a training basis or for tasks which are repetitious in nature. Under this training concept, positions assigned to the class of Maintenance Worker II which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Maintenance Worker I level, with the understanding that reassignment to the Maintenance Worker II class may be expected following successful job performance and personal development.

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level in the maintenance worker series. Positions assigned to this class are expected to perform semi‑skilled and skilled public works maintenance activities and to operate light and moderately heavy power‑driven equipment on a continuing basis. All positions allocated to this class require that an incumbent be able to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative to fulfill assigned tasks. Maintenance Workers II may also be expected to assist in the supervision and training of less experienced personnel.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. Ross Valley Sanitary District is seeking an Inspector excited to join our high performing team. Inspectors work with contractors, homeowners and real estate agents to ensure construction projects meet District standards while educating and providing excellent customer service to the public.

Under general supervision of the Senior Engineer, the Inspector performs advanced, complex, and critical inspections of District infrastructure. Working independently, the Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with District regulations and codes related to the repair of District infrastructure, construction of private sewers, and collection system pump stations. Inspectors are also responsible for ensuring safety measures are applied at job sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Check and review construction plans for construction and repair on public and private sewers.
• Perform civil, structural, mechanical, and basic electrical inspections on construction and repair on District sewer mains, and private sewer laterals performed by contractors or other agencies.
• Communicate status of work to Engineer and co-workers as appropriate.
• Check surveys and plans for accuracy and document site conditions prior to start of construction.
• Inspect construction and backfill materials in all stages of progress to ensure compliance with District specifications, standards, ordinances, and for approval of authorized construction.
• Read and interpret construction plans, documents, and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with District and regulatory standards, plans, ordinances, and specifications regarding construction methods, equipment, workmanship, and quantity and quality of materials used in the project.
• Prepare and maintain records, reports, and documentation required by regulatory agencies and District policy.
• Confer with contractors’ field representatives regarding either work or materials that deviate from plans and specifications; ensure approved corrective measures are applied.
• Verify that Cal-OSHA approved safety precautions are practiced when on construction sites.
• Perform and interpret CCTV inspections of sewer lines; interpret and evaluate CCTV inspections done by subcontractors.
• Inspect and investigate complaints and sewage discharge violations.
• Verify proper testing methodology of air, soil, and vacuum tests, and proper CCTV televising of sewer lines.
• Prepare inspection reports and field sketches of sewer locations, preliminary project layouts, and monitor that work is performed within required timelines.
• Maintain records of field observations, permits, test reports, as-built plans and prepare reports.
• Provide customer service to residents, contractors, and representatives of private/public agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience

Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of:

• Completion of the twelfth grade, or its equivalent.
• Coursework in algebra, geometry; mapping is highly desirable.
• Four years of journey-level work experience in sewer, maintenance, industrial, and/or public works construction in public agency or private sector.

Licensing, Certification, and Registration

Possession of the following licensures, certifications, and/or registrations are required:

• Ability to obtain a Grade II Collection System Maintenance Certificate from the California Water Environment Association within one year of hire.

The Department

The Suisun City Fire Department was established in 1861. The men and women of SCFD take great pride in the customer service that they provide to all who live, work and travel through Suisun City. SCFD is a mission-driven fire agency that remains focused on customers and safety. It is our goal that all members strive to attain a synergistic balance of education, training, and experience to provide excellent emergency management on every call. SCFD is a combination agency staffed with both full-time and volunteer fire personnel. We currently operate two Type 1 Fire Engines, one Type 3 Fire Engine, Ladder Truck, three Command Vehicles, one Type 5 Fire Engine, Zodiac Rescue Boats, and one USAR Trailer. The Position

The ideal candidate would know and be responsible for performance of the full scope of assigned fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical care responsibilities, and for the protection of life and property. New incumbents may have limited related experience but are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities, perform duties with minimal direct supervision, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions. Firefighters work a 48/96 work schedule, comprised of two 24-hour shifts followed by four 24-hour days off, averaging 56 hours per week.
