 Sausalito Parks and Recreation is Seeking a Vibrant Skilled Bocce Referee 

In this part time temporary position, as a Sausalito Parks and Recreation Bocce Referee you are responsible for set-up, management, and cleanup of scheduled Bocce matches. You are the enforcer of rules, an impartial judge, and an advocate for fun and fair play. The ideal candidate will maintain a positive attitude and provide a friendly environment when communicating with teams and keeping score. This position reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.

The requirements for the position are:

• Reliable transportation to and from games
• Be confident and capable of dealing with conflict and intense games
• Commitment of 3.5 hour shifts on Monday and Tuesday for 12 weeks. One Saturday
• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Able to work independently
• Excellent people skills
• Strong ability to follow directions.
• Ability to lift and carry 25lbs

To be considered for this position, you must be available for entirety of the season:

• Mondays and Tuesday's,  June 21st - September 11th, 5:00PM – 8:00PM
• Saturday, September 11th, 10:00 – 5:00 p.m.

THE POSITION: The City of Campbell is currently recruiting for a School Crossing Guard position.

School Crossing Guards work approximately 15-20 hours per week during the regular school year. School Crossing Guards are assigned to designated locations in the City of Campbell assisting elementary and junior high school students to safely cross the streets.

THE POSITION

The City of American Canyon is seeking individuals who will perform a wide variety of general clerical work in support of an assigned function; to provide customer service in-person and on the phone; and to provide information and assistance to staff and the public. The available position will work during the day in the Recreation Department and on a part-time basis. The position is temporary/part-time and is limited to no more than 1,000 hours per fiscal year.  No benefits are provided.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Recreation Leader II position reports to the Recreation Coordinator, and in the absence of a Recreation Coordinator, may report to the Recreation Leader III position. The position is responsible for: organizing, setting up, administering, and monitoring a variety of recreation activities and programs with a focus on programs and events for adults and seniors. Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to: participant processing, room set up/break down, program evaluation, activity monitoring, lunch program assistance and special event planning and organizing.

This position is also responsible for maintaining communication with the public, in addition to ensuring safety procedures are followed. The Recreation Leader II position must be able to work with fellow staff members to assist with the implementation of recreational activities and perform other related duties as needed or assigned.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work for this specific position.

1. Assist with day-to-day operations of the Senior Center and the Satellite Senior Program.
2. Evaluate Senior programs, classes and provides input to the Recreation Coordinator. 
3. Provide quality customer service to participants.
4. Assist with participant processing, activity registration, including collecting and processing fees.
5. Prepare and/or coordinate publicity materials.
6. Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other city employees and members of the public.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE OF: The principles, practices and technology used in the planning and implementation of recreation and community services.  This includes customer service experience, familiarity with trends and programs geared toward the mature adult and senior population.

SKILL AND ABILITY TO: Respond effectively to citizen needs; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others; maintain accurate, organized and complete records; use basic computer applications including Microsoft Office and CIVICRec to prepare reports, press releases, and other written information; effectively communicate with others and assimilate and understand information; work in a variety of conditions including indoor, outdoors, standing, sitting, alone, and in the proximities of others; work irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend, and walk about the facilities or program sites while performing the duties.  Repetitive hand and arm motion, and fine finger manipulation in the use of a computer. Moderate physical effort required, including lifting up to 25 pounds.  May be exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise while carrying out regular duties.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• Completion of at least one year of college (Kinesiology, Recreation or Public Admin preferred)
• 2+ years of experience in a Recreation & Community Services Department
• Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
• Effective written and verbal communications skills and strong problem solving skills
• Effective computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Knowledge of physical fitness and trends for mature adults is highly desirable
• Experience with Recreation registration software, particularly CIVICRec, is preferred
• First Aid / CPR / AED certification and training is highly desirable

OTHER INFORMATION

Temporary employees are non-benefited, at-will positions. Since the City does not participate in Social Security and is required to provide an alternative retirement plan, you are required to participate in the City's defined contribution retirement plan through Nationwide where 3.75% of your gross compensation per pay period is deducted and put into the plan. The City matches this 3.75% for a total contribution of 7.5% of your gross compensation per pay period.

COMPENSATION:
This is a part-time, temporary position. Approximately 15-20 hours per week.
$16.75 to $18.75 hourly DOE

As related experience is gained as noted in the job qualifications and requirements, and with the recommendation in the employee's performance evaluation, Recreation Leaders can advance from Recreation Leader I to Recreation Leader II or from Recreation Leader II to Recreation Leader III.  As the employee advances through the job series the employee will take on more responsibility and more challenging work assignments.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK: 
The following are examples of work that apply to all Recreation Leaders though some work may vary based on assigned program areas.

1. Assist and/or lead in organizing a wide variety of programs and activities to meet the recreational, educational, physical, and social needs in the community. Expect to work with multiple age groups such as children, teenagers, adults and seniors.
2. Observe program areas to insure cleanliness and safe, proper use of facilities and equipment.
3. Participate in related training programs and staff meetings.

2. One year of paid experience working in a recreation program-type setting.
3. Experience supervising children, teens, adults, and/or seniors preferred.
4. Experience communicating with parents and the general public preferred.

Recreation Leader III:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two years of paid experience working in a recreation program-type setting.
3. Must have experience supervising children, teens, adults, and/or seniors.
4. Must have experience communicating with parents and the general public.

Recreation Leaders (All Levels):

1. Valid tuberculosis (TB) Certificate.
2. May be required to possess and maintain a valid California Driver License along with a safe driving record necessary to operate assigned vehicle(s).
3. Possess (within 12 months of hire) and maintain a valid First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
4. Pass a pre-employment drug test.
5. Pass an employment background check including a Department of Justice criminal record check.

The Recreation Division is recruiting for a part time limited term Recreation Leader III or Recreation Specialist. The position will be filled at either level and the assignment will end June 30, 2022. The Recreation Division is a fun, energetic, hard-working team that is always willing to provide support to one another's program. Under general supervision of a Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Coordinator, plan, organize, and direct the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs.  Program areas include, but are not limited to:  Aquatics, Adaptive (special needs), Adult and/or Youth Sports such as organized leagues or classes, After School Program, Cultural Arts, Facility Attendant, Senior Center, Special Events, Summer Camps, Theater, and Youth Center/Youth Services.  This position may be a full-time position, year round part-time position, or a seasonal position. This classification is distinguished from the Recreation Coordinator classification based upon the required education and experience and range/scope of work assigned.  Further, this is an entry-level, paraprofessional position supporting the Recreation Department. 

First Year Projects
1. Assist in coordinating monthly community meeting with core of group of resident leaders (youth and/or adults) of East Gilroy.
2. Open and Close for pro-social classes at San Ysidro Park.
3. Assist in supervising and coordinating of pro-social and/or group classes related to education, health and wellness, safety and gang prevention.
4. Assist in community events as needed.

One (1) Watershed Aide in the area of Watershed Protection/Sky Oaks Kiosk Attendant.  This assignment is part-time, weekends and holidays only and is anticipated to go through the end of November 2021.  The work shift includes both Saturdays and Sundays, and holidays. • maps watershed natural resources using a global positioning system or Calflora’s Observer Pro system;
• enters data into watershed geographic information system or Calflora Weed Manager system;
• assists with a variety of tasks at multiple restoration sites: prep for planting, monitoring, weeding, acorn collection, planting;
• performs administrative tasks including data entry and report production;
• directs interns and volunteers in execution of scientific protocols and habitat restoration activities; and
• performs other duties as assigned.
