Pay Rate: $15 per hour (Recreation Leader I – High School)
$16 per hour (Recreation Leader II)

The Position: The Campbell Recreation & Community Services Department is seeking motivated, energetic, team-oriented individuals who enjoy working with children and teens.
Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities include planning, conducting and supervising children ages 3 to
13 in structured activities such as games, camp songs, arts & crafts, swimming and field trips in a recreational park setting.
Qualifications:
- Recreation Leader I: Experience working with children or teens in a recreational setting is desired, but not required. Minimum age at start date of assignment is 16 years.
- Recreation Leader II: Experience working with youth in a recreational setting is desired but not required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Recreation Leader III: Experience working with youth in a day camp setting or similar program is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Selection Process: The most qualified applicants will be invited to participate in an interview. Selections will be made from the results of the interviews. Final selection is contingent upon a pre- employment criminal history records check and the ability to provide verification of authorization to work in the United States. Tuberculosis test results must be submitted prior to scheduled employment. Work permit required if under 18 and still in high school.

Where are applications available?
To apply for a Recreation Leader position, go to CalOps.org or fill out the Recreation Employment Application (writeable PDF) available at www.campbellca.gov/hr.
How do I fill out the application?
Remember you are applying to become an employee of the City of Campbell. Fill out the application carefully. Use either blue or black ink. It is okay to list volunteer work or babysitting experience in the job experience section. Since you are applying to work with children it is important to list all experience you have working in this area.
Should I prepare a cover letter with my application?
Yes, submit your application with a cover letter to introduce yourself, describe any experience you have working with children and tell us why you would be an excellent Recreation Leader. This is especially helpful if you have minimal experience working with children.
When should I submit my application materials?
We encourage interested applicants to submit their application ASAP or by April 1st at the absolute latest. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis or until positions are filled. Submit on either CalOps.org, or directly email the applications to Lauren Council at laurenc@campbellca.gov.
What is the summer season work commitment?
Recreation Leaders need to be available to work a minimum of 4 weeks during the camp season (6/13 to 8/5). In-service training is required for all new hires (6/6-6/9). You can also apply to be an on-call substitute if you have prior experience working day camp or a similar program.

When will I find out if I have been selected for an interview?
Interviews will be granted to applicants who best meet the criteria listed for the position. If you are selected for an interview you will be contacted at the phone number or email listed on your application. If you receive a message or email, it is up to you as the applicant to respond promptly to schedule an interview. interviews will begin the week of February 21st and will continue until positions are filled.
Should I bring a letter of recommendation to the interview?
One or two letters of recommendation would be accepted via email before the scheduled interview. Please email your letter of recommendation to Lauren Council at laurenc@campbellca.gov. Recommendations should come from a teacher, coach, church leader, or mentor (not a family member) who can provide comments on your work experience and/or leadership skills.
