The Department: The Suisun City Police Department is a progressive and proactive law enforcement agency. As a result of its proximity to neighboring jurisdictions, the employees of the Suisun City Police Department remain extremely busy as they address the needs of the community. The Position: Under supervision (Public Safety Dispatcher I) or general supervision (Public Safety Dispatcher II)  the incumbent performs a variety of duties involved in receiving, evaluating, prioritizing, and relaying calls for emergency and non-emergency public safety assistance; dispatches appropriate units and coordinates response of emergency personnel; maintains, processes, and distributes police records; operates a variety of telecommunications equipment, including radio, telephone, and CAD systems; and performs a wide variety of specialized clerical duties involved in the preparation, maintenance, and release of materials related to law enforcement activities.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Public Works and Utilities is comprised of six divisions that work collaboratively to develop, build, operate, and maintain Hayward's infrastructure. The Department is responsible for providing engineering and transportation support to City operating departments and divisions and for implementation of the City's Capital Improvement Program, all while providing excellent customer service to the community.

• Land surveying principles and practices as applied to preliminary location, property, construction, precise traverse, and precise leveling and topographic surveys.
• Plane geometry and its application to land surveying.
• Proper use and methods of adjustment of common surveying instruments and equipment.
• Operating surveying instruments and in making accurate field observations.

• Effectively supervise the work of members of a land survey party.
• Learn and effectively apply City policies, procedures and practices related to land survey work and to interpret legal descriptions.
• Prepare clears, and completes records.
• Read and interpret maps and complex property descriptions.
• Make a check calculations and resolve discrepancies in surveying data.

Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:   Three years of increasingly responsible survey experience related to public works design and construction at least one year of which included responsible survey instrument work.
 
Education:  Equivalent to an Associate of Arts Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and completed course work in algebra, geometry, trigonometry and drafting.  

License:   Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License. Possession of a California L.S.I.T. or Land Surveyor's License.

THE POSITION

The current opening is for a full-time position and is under the direction of the Police Records Supervisor. The Police Records Clerk will provide a wide variety of clerical, typing, and computer data entry tasks related to Police records; maintaining accurate Police statistics, records, and files; conducting business and transactions with the public, in person and by telephone; is available for occasional night and/or weekend duty as required, and performing other related work as required.

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for all Police statistical record keeping.
• Perform a variety of data entry, typing, and clerical work related to all phases of the Police operation,  such as preparing forms, ordering department supplies, and making appointments.
• Prepare correspondence and compile information for reports.
• Direct requests to proper agencies and departments.

Program Assistant - Receptionist

Salary Range: $17.64 - $29.22/hour, depending on experience.

DEFINITION

Perform a wide variety of general clerical and/or operational support duties at the Danville Community Center and Senior Center, such as serve as a receptionist, operate a telephone system and assist/direct callers and visitors according to established procedures.

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position.
• 10-20 hours per week; not-to-exceed 950 hours per calendar year.

SUPERVISION

General supervision is received from the Administrative Assistant with indirect supervision from the Program Supervisor. May exercise supervision of part-time personnel and volunteers as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:

• Deal directly with the public and internal staff.
• Provide information to the walk-in public.
• Register participants and support facility reservations using Active Net software. 
• Assist at the Danville Senior Center front desk as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

One (1) year of experience performing standard clerical and secretarial duties. Prior experience as a receptionist in a related field preferred.

Education:

THE POSITION
