This extra-help, non-benefited position provides excellent customer service, prepares artwork and designs for printing, assists in the development of graphic presentations, reviews art and design projects to ensure technical accuracy of the layouts, assists in the production and color layout of design projects, designs signage and other basic projects. Required Supplemental Instruction must be completed in order to be considered: Please submit 3-5 samples of your design work by attaching PDF's to application or add a link to your portfolio, and briefly list which software tools were used in the creation.

TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to:

• Works with Graphics and Library staff to review, proof, layout, produce, and to assist in the design, plan, layout, and evaluation of a variety of visual promotional and communication materials to promote Library programs and services.
• May create original artwork and illustrations for signage, fliers, and posters.
• Prepares and reviews specifications in collaboration with Graphics staff for collateral printing.
• Coordinates and participates in artwork layout and production of design work with other Graphics staff and ensures desired deliverables are on time.
• Utilizes graphics software programs, computer hardware, and specialized technical equipment in order to effectively complete projects.
• Maintains graphic arts, production, and printing supplies inventories and effects the maintenance of specialized technical equipment.
• Archives and retrieves a variety of original artwork, forms, designs, and supplies.
• Learns and applies emerging technologies and performs duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.
• Performs production duties for printed materials produced: cutting, folding, binding and other required steps to finalize collateral printed materials, such as flyers and posters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Equivalent to 30 semester units of academic coursework in fine arts, graphic design, web design, communications, marketing, or a related field and (1) year of recent experience in web design, and/or the development of public education programs and materials in an environment where the experience included layout and the operation of a digital reproduction copier, offset machine, or bindery for production OR three (3) years of experience in basic layout and the operation of a digital reproduction copier, offset machine, or bindery in a reprographic or printing production centered environment at a level equivalent to the Library’s classification of Graphic Services Assistant.  Additional education or experience as described above may be substituted on a year for year basis to meet minimum qualifications.

SALARY RANGE:               $27.40/hour to $28.79/hour

GRAPHIC ARTS SPECIALIST

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, provides excellent customer service, prepares artwork and designs for printing, assists in the development of graphic presentations, reviews art and design projects to ensure technical accuracy of the layouts, assists in the production and color layout of design projects, designs signage and other basic projects, assures technical accuracy in layout of materials, maintains digital files and assures print and press inventories and maintenance schedules are maintained, may provide direct department coordination and design of small design projects such as signage, flyers, posters, or brochures; may direct and review work of Graphic Services Assistant.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

This position receives direction from the Community Relations Manager and functional supervision from Graphic Designers. May assist Graphic Services Assistants and other lower level employees.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

This is an entry-level graphic arts design classification with technical printing support skills responsible to assist Graphic Arts Designers in developing a variety of visual and graphic materials and publications that promote Library programs and services and to assure technical accuracy in layout and effectiveness of prepress support functions. Successful performance in the work requires the use of tact, discretion, creativity, judgment, knowledge of prepress protocols, equipment, and layout techniques, and a basic knowledge of graphic arts design and production.

This position is distinguished from the Graphic Arts Associate by the latter’s responsibility for performance of the full range of duties, working independently, receiving only occasional direct supervision, and directing the work of subordinate design and support staff. This position is distinguished from the Graphic Services Assistant by its responsibility to assist in the development of graphic presentations, design signage and other basic projects, review art and design projects to ensure technical accuracy of the layouts and assist in the production and color layout of design projects.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office and library setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. This classification primarily works indoors and requires movement between work areas. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve materials and data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Positions in this classification occasionally lift and carry reports, records, and materials that typically weigh up to fifty pounds.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS

Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

There is currently one full-time position available, funded by the Lighting and Landscaping Districts.

Community

Suisun City is located midway between San Francisco and Sacramento in south central Solano County. The City, which was among the first to incorporate in California, developed around a waterfront that has direct access to San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Although the City is largely developed, several large parcels exist and a large annexation is on the horizon that signals ongoing development activity will continue to be in the City’s future.

The Position

The primary job responsibility of the Public Works Maintenance Worker I is to join our team of field employees who work daily to maintain, repair, and construct the physical systems that serve the community, including parks, recreation equipment, streets, traffic signals, landscaped areas, sewer & storm drain collection systems, and other public facilities. We’re looking for creative problem-solvers to perform high-quality skilled work with a variety of tools and equipment types under the direction and guidance of more experienced lead workers and managers in both individual and team projects.

Essential Job Functions

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Performs a variety of maintenance and repair work on various City facilities and structures including streets, landscaped areas, recreation facilities, sewer, storm drains, traffic signals, and other public facilities.
• Operates construction and maintenance equipment and power tools such as a dump truck, front-end loader, backhoe, tractor, overlay machine, jetter, compressor, jackhammer, paint sprayer, and concrete saw; maintains hand tools and assigned equipment; performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Conducts traffic control when working in high traffic areas of the City; installs street barricades and cones prior to the performance of maintenance or repair activities; directs and controls traffic around work sites.
• Performs various street maintenance functions; identifies and repairs pot hole areas; repairs or replaces cracked, raised, sunken, or otherwise damaged sidewalks, curbs and gutters; removes any roadway hazards; identifies all areas needing striping and/or painting; maintain, clean, and repair collection systems.

• Prepares, installs, repairs, and replaces City sign posts and signs; cleans and maintains existing signs; trims vegetation that presents safety hazards, clears walkways of trash and debris; removes graffiti.
• Maintains assessment districts and landscaped areas including parkways, open space areas, and medians; performs weed abatement and pesticide applications; installs and maintains irrigation systems to ensure proper operating efficiency; maintains, trims, and removes trees.
• Utilizes proper safety precautions related to all work performed.
• Clears, maintains, and disposes of trash in public areas; oversees the work of contract staff; performs special projects as required.

Definition

Under general direction of the Library Director, this position is responsible for overall coordination and direction of the Sonoma County Library’s fundraising efforts, including annual giving, major gifts, grant writing, public/private partnerships, advocacy, development-related marketing, and fundraising events.

The incumbent plans, develops, coordinates, and directs activities in fund development and grant management: provides analytical and technical assistance in the Library’s strategic planning of activities to financially build and sustain library programs and services; and to perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general direction from the Library Director.  Exercises direct and/or general supervision over and provides training to assigned professional, paraprofessional, technical, and support staff. 

Class Characteristics    

This position reports directly to the Library Director and provides revenue development from public/private funding sources.  The incumbent will plan and conduct a variety of approaches to support the Library’s capital and long-term funding needs and will serve in an advisory capacity to the Library Foundation and other support organizations. The work requires initiative, independent judgment and the ability to make decisions within the scope of general policies and procedures and to resolve organizational and service delivery problems. This class is differentiated from the Library Director in that the latter has oversight of all Sonoma County Library divisions, sections, programs, activities, and services, it is differentiated from the Community Relations Manager in that its main focus is to work with the community on increasing capital and in kind donations to the Library, while the latter is to communicates awareness of all Library-related programs and services.

Assistant or Associate Planner (part-time) Town of Fairfax, CA

The Town is seeking qualified candidates to fill one position at either the Assistant or Associate Planner level.  The position is half-time (20 hours/week) and permanent.  For the Assistant Planner position, candidates should have a professional planning degree from an accredited college, or 1 year’s planning experience, or combination providing the equivalent.  Duties typically include current planning zoning review and processing, under the general supervision of the Principal Planner or Planning Director.  The ideal candidate will have read and have some understanding of how to apply the Town’s zoning regulations, General Plan and other planning-policies, review technical information. 

For the Associate Planner position, the candidate should have at least 2 year’s governmental planning experience, preferably in current planning and a bachelor’s degree in planning from an accredited planning college, or the equivalent.  The ideal candidate demonstrates increasingly challenging and independent planning responsibilities and skills, including long-range planning, and be able to document and demonstrate writing and other communication skills.

The Fire Department

The Suisun City Fire Department was established in 1861. The men and women of Suisun City Fire Department take great pride in the customer service that they provide to all who live, work and travel through the city limits of Suisun City. Suisun City Fire Department is a mission-driven fire agency that remains focused on customers and safety. It is the goal of the Fire Department that all members strive to attain a synergistic balance of education, training, and experience to provide excellent customer service and emergency management on every call. The Fire Department is a combination agency staffed with both full-time and reserve fire personnel. The Department currently operates (3) Type 1 Fire Engines, (1) Type 3 Fire Engine, Ladder Truck, (3) Command Vehicles, (1) Type 5 Fire Engine, Zodiac Rescue Boats, and (1)Dive Rescue Trailer. The Suisun City Fire Department is an ALS (Paramedic) level department, supported by Medic Ambulance for transport services. Suisun City Fire Department Station 47 is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In 2020, the SCFD responded to 3,073 calls. As a busy Bay Area municipal fire agency, the SCFD ran 166 fires in 2020. The Position

Under the general direction of the Fire Chief, the Fire Marshal should have a background in Fire Prevention and Fire Code Enforcement. The Fire Marshal shall participate in leading fire investigations and serve as the fire department representative in economic development and building plan review meetings for Suisun City. The Fire Marshal must also be operationally capable and will serve in a fire suppression capacity based on the level of training and experience held by the selected candidate.

• Assumes management responsibility for the activities and operations of the Fire Prevention Program, disaster preparedness, and related programs and services. Develops and maintains the City Emergency Operations Plan

• Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures related to fire prevention and life safety codes and ordinances; develops programs related to local, state and federal mandates.

• Reviews and examines building construction plans and drawings and inspects residential, commercial and industrial buildings during construction and after occupancy to ensure compliance with all fire, life safety and health codes; maintains records of inspections for all buildings and assures inspection schedules are carried out.

• Issues violation notices and follow-ups as required to sections which relate to fire prevention, detection, and suppression; reports to building owners or tenants regarding violations and required corrective actions.

• Interprets and enforces policies, procedures, regulations, ordinances, and resolutions adopted by the City; provides technical assistance to contractors, architects, engineers, developers and the public.

• Promotes public relations through public education programs; furnishes fire safety information to the public; develops and presents fire safety education programs to community groups of all ages.

• Investigates potential fire and safety hazards; conducts field inspections; evaluates existing fire safety conditions, and enforces federal, state and local codes, ordinances and regulations applicable to fire safety; investigates fires for cause and origin; prepares necessary documents and reports; works with law enforcement for the prosecution of fire related crimes.

• Manages weed abatement, fireworks enforcement and other related fire prevention programs.

• Collects, analyzes and evaluates data; prepares and maintains a variety of detailed records, technical information and statistical data; prepares clear and concise correspondence, including memoranda, records and reports.

THE POSITION

The City of American Canyon, a growing Napa Valley community, is seeking an Accounting Manager to be responsible for providing professional accounting and public finance assistance to the City. Responsibilities will involve supervising and managing City financial activities in the areas of general accounting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and provide expert professional and analytical assistance to City management and other staff. This position reports directly to the Finance Director.

THE POSITION:
