The Town of Los Gatos is recruiting for an Equipment Mechanic or Supervising Equipment Mechanic to join the Parks and Public Works Department. This is a great career opportunity for an independent, highly motivated, customer service-oriented, organized individual to:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of about 100 vehicles, including emergency response vehicles, and a variety of equipment (e.g., generators, trailers, boom trucks, compressors, wheel loaders, street sweepers, etc.).
- Coordinate regular and preventative maintenance on all vehicles and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical tissues and perform or coordinate the necessary repairs to ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition and meet proper safety protocols.
- Prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and ensure fleet readiness.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure parts and equipment.
- Oversee the upfitting process for first responder vehicles, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools and technology to support emergency operations.
- Support maintenance of the Department's asset management software to track vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules and inventory.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders, promptly responding to repair requests and informing them of maintenance progress.
- Supervise a part-time mechanic.
