EVENT DUTY (ON CALL POSITION) - WEEKEND HOURS (Days and Evenings)
$15.15 per hour

The Sacramento Public Library's Tsakopoulos Library Galleria is seeking candidates to fill several on-call Event Duty positions.  This position works as needed, based on events scheduled in the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria.   The Tsakopoulos Library Galleria is attached to the Sacramento Public Library's Central library (downtown) located at 828 I Street in Sacramento.

If you have at least six (6) months of experience overseeing various functions of events for a banquet, conference or other public use facility, we encourage you to apply!

The ideal candidate has excellent customer skills and experience managing events, such as weddings, proms, professional meetings, job fairs, trade shows, etc.  He/she must have the ability to interact tactfully with clients, vendors and prospects; must be able to effectively enforce health, safety and other facility policies and regulations; is adept at Microsoft Office products and is familiar with a variety of audio/visual equipment.

  currently working for a CalPERS employer, or have contributions or service on account
  that has not been refunded.

BASIC FUNCTION
Set- up, monitor and break down events in the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
(Functions listed are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)
•Set up furniture, microphones, conference phones; etc.;
•Put out signage;
•Greet clients,
•Connect lap-tops to projectors;
•Coordinate vendor set ups;
•Re-stock paper products in restrooms;
•Ensure vendors and clients are complying with Galleria policies;
•Assist at the end of the events with stacking chairs and putting chair covers on, setting out additional tables & chairs;
•Take notes during the events;
•Ensure caterers clean their areas and remove garbage;
•Secure the Galleria and library at the end of events;
•Respond quickly to emails and send follow-up reports, and
•Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
Knowledge of:
1.Basic principles and techniques in overseeing a variety of events,;
 
Ability to:
1.Work cooperatively with others;
2.Work with vendors during event;
3.Operate a variety of audiovisual equipment, identifying event problems and handling them efficiently;
4.Communicate Galleria policies and procedures to existing and prospective clients;
5.Understand and follow oral and written instructions;
6.Ability to work independently;
7.Resolve conflicts with tact and diplomacy;
8.Read, write and communicate in English.

EXPERIENCE
 Six months experience overseeing various event functions for a banquet hall, conference center, or other public use facility.

No education required.

Other
The hours will vary between less than 10 to 40 hours in a two week pay period and are not guaranteed. This is limited to on-call assignments that do not exceed 1040 hours per year.

The on call position is scheduled a month at a time but is adjusted accordingly as events are booked and/or cancelled.  The position requires flexibility events begin as early as 7 AM and end as late as midnight. Events are scheduled seven days per week.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for Extra-Help Cooks in the Probation Department.  Under close supervision, prepares and provides institutional meals following federal and state nutritional guidelines, and performs other duties as assigned.  This classification is assigned to the County Juvenile Hall & Camp, a division within the Probation Department, or the County Jail division in the Sheriff’s department.  This position performs a full range of tasks associated with the preparation and distribution of meals to juvenile detainees and adult inmates.  The incumbent ensures that properly prepared nutritional meals are produced in a large volume, institutional setting.  Responsibilities also include overseeing detainees and/or inmates and institution workers assisting with food preparation. 

For successful performance, the incumbent would be required to have knowledge of principles, methods and equipment used in high volume meal preparation in an institutional setting; basic food groups and nutritional values; safe work practices related to food preparation, storage and service; basic business arithmetic; and basic inventory and record keeping principles and practices. Skill in overseeing and preparing meals in a large scale, institutional setting; overseeing and training others in basic cooking and work procedures; operating, cleaning and performing minor maintenance to large institutional food preparation and cooking equipment; maintaining accurate records and preparing work related reports; directing others in work procedures; and reading, understanding and following recipes and oral and written directions. Ability to interpret instructions and menus given by supervisor; know and understand how to clean and use kitchen equipment; observe inmates at work site; solve operational problems; remember cooking instructions; and explain work procedures to staff and inmate workers; supervise a kitchen facility utilizing inmate workers; and maintain intense concentration on activities going on around one’s location on a constant basis throughout the entire work shift. The Position

The City of Fremont is looking for an Assistant Chef to join the crew at the City-operated Senior Center.  Under direction of the Chef/Food Services Manager, the Assistant Chef will participate in the preparation, serving and clean up of a large number of “classic” lunch items for seniors as well as some catering engagements.  The Assistant Chef may substitute for the Chef/Food Service Manager in the latter's absence.  This is a thirty-two (32) hours per week position.  Normally the work hours are 6:30am - 1:30pm, Monday through Friday, very rarely are weekends and evenings required.

What is a typical day like for the ASSISTANT CHEF?

¨ Participate in receiving and inventory of ordered food and kitchen supplies.

¨ Prepare raw ingredients for cooking and cook food.

¨ Clean food service equipment such as dishes, flatware, pots, pans, serving equipment, stoves, sinks and floors.

¨ Return food service equipment to correct location after use/cleaning.

¨ Participate in the set up and break down of the food serving line.

¨ Participate in serving of food.

¨ Receive and respond to customer requests.

¨ Purchase food and supplies that are needed immediately from off-site locations.

¨ Coordinate and schedule the set-up and break down of classes & events.

¨ Other duties as assigned.

The ideal Candidate for this job

The City of Fremont is searching for an effective team player who is able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.  The Assistant Chef will have knowledge of foods commonly used in quantity meal preparation, kitchen cleaning techniques, and be able to use knives, scissors and other kitchen cooking implements.  The successful candidate must have the ability to prepare foods according to written and oral instructions, use common food preparation implements, and learn to operate specialized kitchen equipment.  In addition, the candidate must have the ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

What we are looking for in a candidate:

Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge and skills necessary for satisfactory job performance would be qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:

¨ Eighteen months of experience in food preparation in a quantity food services facility. 

¨ Course work in an accredited vocational institution which includes quantity food preparation, equipment sanitation, and safe work practices.  This may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

¨ Strong customer service skills are essential and experience working with seniors is preferred.

¨ Possession of a Serve Safe Certification is required.

¨ Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License is required.  This classification requires the ability to travel independently within and outside of City limits.

¨ Ability to safely lift and carry up to fifty (50) pound boxes or bags is required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Woodside Cadets will work and be involved in:

Cadets must be enrolled in the CO-Operative Education Program at the College of San Mateo. They must also meet monthly hour requirements and attend monthly training drills.

The Cadet term begins in August and is twelve months in length.

THE POSITION

The City of Dublin is currently seeking citizens who are willing to serve as volunteers and are ready to respond whenever disaster strikes. During a catastrophic event there are enormous unmet human resource needs; having a pre-screened and well-managed reserve of volunteers is an extremely valuable community asset.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Volunteers are expected to be on-call when large incidents and disasters occur. These major events include, but are not limited to, earthquakes, severe storms, tornadoes, flash floods, landslides; floods, fires, and unusual incidents than can arise out of terrorism, urban unrest or mass actions.

Whenever such large incidents occur, volunteers are called upon to assist professional responders such as police officers, firefighters, building inspectors, care & shelter support and general emergency operations support with any tasks associated with disaster response and recover. Possible tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Care & Shelter – Assist in accruing and providing food, clothing, bedding, shelter, and rehabilitation aid; register evacuees to promote reuniting families and to support the needs of special populations; compile authoritative lists of deceased and missing persons; and other phases of emergency human services, such as maintaining morale and administering to the mental health, religious or spiritual needs of persons suffering from the effects of the disaster.
• Logistics – Under the direction of the Chief of Logistics and/or designee, assist in procurement, warehousing, and release of supplies, equipment materials, or other resources. Assist in mobilization and utilization of public and private transportation resources required for the movement of persons, materials, and equipment.
• Animal Care – Assist in the establishment and maintenance of a temporary shelter to house animals, register animals to promote reuniting pets with owners, manage intake of donated materials, providing food and water to animals, cleaning living areas, taking animals out for walks, brushing and grooming animal coats, and transporting animals.
• Child Care – Assist in the establishment and provision of a temporary child care facility; provide youth ages infant to teen with support and engaging activities; prepare meals and snacks; keep the facility areas clean and organized; assist with crafts, games or free-play; act as a positive role model; provide positive reinforcement and promote healthy, non-violent behaviors; communicate with other full-time staff and volunteers regarding on-going facility, program, and client needs.
• Search and Rescue – Under the direction of the appropriate authority, perform search and rescue operations in one or more of several areas including: search and rescue; urban search and rescue; or confined space rescue.
• Safety Assessment Inspector – Survey, evaluate and assess damaged facilities for continued occupancy or use; assist in emergency restoration of facilities for utilities, transportation, and other vital community services; and provide recommendations regarding shoring or stabilization of damaged or unsafe building or structures.
• Emergency Volunteer Center – Establish and manage volunteer reception station; distribute forms to potential volunteers; direct people with non-volunteer related inquiries to appropriate source; post urgent volunteer resource needs; establish and manager volunteer intake and referral station; conduct brief interview with prospective volunteers; register volunteers as Disaster Service Workers; ensure completion of required paperwork and administration of Loyalty Oath.
• Any clerical/administrative support wherever needed.

The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is offering an excellent training and fire experience for individuals interested in a career working for a fire department. The District is accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Communication Reserve. This is a volunteer/non-paid position. Applications are being accepted on a continuous basis, but candidates are encouraged to apply early as this recruitment may close at any time. 

Volunteer Communication Reserves are an important part of the District's operations. Their dedication and commitment to the District contribute to the overall success and safety of the Organization and staff by enhancing the communication and support functions in both times of emergency and on a routine basis. Volunteer Communication Reserves do not perform firefighting functions, or other functions that are normally performed by career District personnel.
 
The duties consist of, but are not limited to the following:

• Fire support duties as assigned, including rehabilitation duties during fire incidents
• Provide support during mutual aid response, including track resources.
• Assist with logistical Situation/Resource Status support
• Distribute and recover radio equipment (Cache radios and other equipment)
• Operate radio equipment at incidents
• Provide telephone and fax support at incidents and during emergencies
• Assist with the Mobile Command Post and Breathing Support Unit, including setup, operation, shutdown and rehabilitation (upon completion of training)
• Drive Communications Support and Breathing Support Units, including setup, startup and shutdown/rehabilitation (upon completion of the appropriate license, certification, and training requirements)
• Responsible for the inspection and care, including reporting maintenance issues through the appropriate channels, of the Mobile Communications and Breathing Support Units
• Assist in Community Events
• Other duties as assigned

ORIENTATION AND TRAINING (provided by the District)
 
The Volunteer Communications Reserve Orientation and Training will include the following:

• First Aid
• CPR
• Basic safety briefings
• Review of District policies
• Equipment familiarization
• Safety/Equipment drills
• Basic Incident Command System
• Correct use of PPE

The Community: The City of Lincoln is a rapidly growing community with a population of 46,000+. It is located northeast of Sacramento, just minutes from I-80 and the Sierra Nevada foothills. THE POSITION:
The purpose of this program is to augment full-time staffing in the City of Lincoln Firefighting program, but mostly the intent is to provide opportunity to develop the skills and abilities necessary for a candidate to gain employment in the fire services industry. The non-sworn Reserve Firefighter will gain the valuable work experience needed to obtain the California State Firefighter I certification. The City of Lincoln will benefit from producing well trained reservists who assist the department with the gained skills, knowledge and abilities. The Reserve Firefighter will receive on-going training.
