The City of Albany is currently accepting applications of the position of Community Development Assistant. This is the entry-level class in the City’s professional Planner series, reporting initially to the Sustainability and Resilience Program Manager. The Community Development Assistant may be assigned technical/professional duties within either or all the functional areas of the City’s Community Development Department, which include general planning administration and enforcement, sustainability & resilience, economic development or transportation.

The Schools Sustainability Associates (SSAs) provide opportunities for teachers, students and schools-based groups to directly contribute to the sustainability of their school and community by providing educational tours at our two Education Transfer Stations, in-class teacher training and instructional support for student action projects that enable elementary, middle, and high school classrooms and student groups throughout Alameda County.
The City of Sunnyvale invites applications for the Solid Waste Programs Division Manager to provide leadership and guidance for the Solid Waste Programs Division staff of the Environmental Services Department. Reporting to the Director of Environmental Services, this manager leads and manages the Solid Waste Programs Division including the award-winning Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer (SMaRT) Station, the solid waste collection franchise contract and the Sunnyvale Landfill.
The Laboratory provides critical analytical services for monitoring operations, compliance, and industrial discharges at the Wastewater Facility; and the support of various studies monitoring water quality issues in the Bay and urban tributaries. Our state-of-the-art facility provides analysis for trace metals, organics, microbiology, toxicological bioassays and other tests for air, soil, and wastewater. The lab operates 365 days a year and processes more than 50,000 samples annually for internal and external customers.
