WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Transit Manager is an important part of the City's transit team that provide services including the Auburn Loop fixed route and Auburn OnDemand ride share programs.

Under direction of the Public Works Director, the Transit Manager is responsible for the management, supervision and participation in the daily operations of the Transit Division. The incumbent can expect to be involved in the daily operations, division’s budget, capital and grant-funded development projects, and a wide variety of administrative, research and analytical duties in support of assigned department.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Actual work may vary based on department needs or change due to evolving business practices.

• Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and participates in the daily operations and staff work of the Transit Division, participates in budget development and administration, and selects, trains and evaluates personnel.
• Establishes schedules and methods for providing transit services, schedules drivers and ensures coverage of shifts, coordinates maintenance and allocation of vehicles, provides safety training, and responds to accidents and incidents, conducts investigations, and takes corrective actions.
• Coordinates transportation needs for schools and special events, coordinates transit activities with other divisions and agencies, and performs customer relations tasks, including answering questions and issuing passes.
• Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the Transit Division, ensures compliance with established policies and procedures, and works with local businesses to promote transit services.
• Conducts research, analyzes data and prepares reports to support decision-making, provides staff assistance to higher-level management, identifies opportunities for service improvement, and recommends changes and improvements to standards and procedures.
• Participates in committees and prepares reports, represents the City at various meetings and events, attends professional group meetings to stay informed about industry trends.
• Perform related duties as required.

San Mateo County Health's Aging and Adult Services Division is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Social Worker II (SW II) to provide a wide variety of services in such areas as information and referral, supportive services, protective services, out-of-home services, health related services, and other welfare within San Mateo County Health and the Human Services Agency.
 
The current vacancy is in the Enhanced Care Management (ECM) / Partners for Independence (PFI) Unit - Community Services (CS) that provides CS services coordination for adults who have complex medical and psychosocial needs and are at-risk for out of home placement.  ECM/PFI CS is a voluntary program that may be offered to San Mateo County residents who have Medi-CAL, who are aged and/or disabled with CalAIM CS needs.  
 
Distinguishing Characteristics
The Social Worker II screens applicants’ eligibility for CalAIM CS services. The SW II will travel throughout the County to conduct home visits to educate eligible clients regarding services, participate at Interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings, coordinate services to assist clients and to perform other duties of the position.

 The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Master's degree in Social Work.
• Excellent communication skills with seniors, cognitive and behavior challenged clients and their caregivers to develop an appropriate respite schedule for clients.

• Understanding of human development and behavior within diverse populations.

• Superior organizational skills to manage a large caseload and related documents.
• Proficient computer skills to use several independent data base systems as well as Microsoft Excel and Word.

• Valid CA driver license is required.
• Fluency in other languages in addition to English is a plus

Licensure/Certification:

• California class C driver license or equivalent.

Education: Satisfactory completion of 30 semester units of social welfare and/or appropriate behavioral science courses.

Experience: Two years experience performing duties comparable to those of a Social Worker I or higher in San Mateo County. Substitution: Possession of a Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work.

POSITION

To plan, organize and manage all activities and programs for a specified division of library operations or services, to include the supervision, coordination, promotion and evaluation of division program.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill an upcoming vacancy in the Woodland Public Library, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Woodland Public Library is seeking a team-orientated, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking Library Program Manager to provide oversight, development, and implementation of programs and services primarily related to adult services with general library support. Library Program Manager I: This is the entry level class in the professional library series. Library Program Manager II: This is the journey level class in the professional library series. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the lower class of Librarian Program Manager I, or when filled from the outside, require prior professional library work experience.  Appointment to the higher class requires that the employee be performing substantially the full range of duties for the class and meet the qualification standards for the class. Work in this class is distinguished from that of a Library Program Manager I by greater complexity of the assignments received and by greater independence with which an incumbent is expected to operate.

• Develops and interprets division policies.

Education
Library Program Manager I and II
Possession of a Master of Library Sciences Degree from an accredited college or university.

A minimum of four (4) years' responsible experience in a professional librarian capacity, including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity and one (1) year of managing programs.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for an individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Adult Outpatient Program (AOP). This class is distinguished from the Senior Refuse Truck Diver in that the latter provides technical and functional supervision over assigned staff or division programs and responsibilities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Refuse Truck Driver II

Receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. May receive technical and functional supervision from a Senior Refuse Truck Driver.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Drives and operates a variety of collection vehicles and equipment including one or two-person-staffed refuse collection truck, front, rear and side loaders in the collection and transportation of residential and commercial refuse; responds to afterhours call-outs if assigned.
• Maintains assigned truck by regular cleaning and washing, including inspecting for mechanical or other operating problems; reports mechanical or related problems for maintenance; may perform minor maintenance as appropriate.
• Operates hydraulic/mechanical controls to load, compress, and dump refuse; collects and disposes of debris on assigned route; transports refuse to/unload at appropriate landfill sites and/or sewage treatment plant.
• Assists with battery sorting, electronic waste collection, bin repair or delivery, cardboard removal, illegal dumping cleanup, and any other related solid waste program or assignment.
• Completes and posts notification tags on containers, bins and dumpsters for unacceptable contents for refuse collection.
• Prepares, maintains and submits records, reports and forms including time records, equipment and maintenance records, and route maps and logs.
• Responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff and the public.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

The following are a representative sample of the KSA’s necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Knowledge of:  Methods, practices and techniques of solid waste and refuse collection and disposal; practices, techniques and materials used in the collection and disposal of solid waste refuse; knowledge of the City street system; applicable federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations; operating characteristics and safety requirements for operation of trucks, refuse vehicles and other heavy and light equipment; defensive driving; proper lifting procedures; Principles and practices of lead supervision, training, and performance evaluation, including safety practices and related record-keeping; methods and techniques for record keeping; basic principles of mathematics; occupational hazards and standard safety procedures.

Skill to:  Safe, effective, defensive and attentive driving, along with experience using a variety of solid waste and refuse collection vehicles, equipment, tools and materials. 

Ability to:  Perform solid waste refuse collection and disposal; drive and operate solid waste and refuse collection trucks; respond to issues and concerns from the community; interpret, explain and apply applicable laws, codes and regulations; operate a variety of solid waste and refuse collection equipment, vehicles and tools; perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time; work at substantial heights; respond to afterhours call-outs if assigned; organize, prioritize and follow-up on work assignments; work independently and as part of a team; make sound decisions within established guidelines; analyze a complex issue, and develop and implement an appropriate response; develop and coordinate collection route schedules, including identification of non-routine special routes/equipment needs related to special events/projects; inspect trucks for maintenance/replacement recommendations; act as a lead worker and perform advanced journey level solid waste refuse collection work related to area of assignment; follow written and oral directions; observe safety principles and work in a safe manner; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships.

THE SELECTION PROCESS

The process may include an in-basket exercise, individual interviews, panel interviews and/or other related components.  Only those candidates who have the best combination of qualifications in relation to the requirements and duties of the position will continue in the selection process.
