Are you a skilled mechanic who thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same? The Town of Los Gatos is recruiting for an Equipment Mechanic or Supervising Equipment Mechanic to join the Parks and Public Works Department. This is a great career opportunity for an independent, highly motivated, customer service-oriented, organized individual to:

• Oversee the maintenance and repair of about 100 vehicles, including emergency response vehicles, and a variety of equipment (e.g., generators, trailers, boom trucks, compressors, wheel loaders, street sweepers, etc.).
• Coordinate regular and preventative maintenance on all vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical tissues and perform or coordinate the necessary repairs to ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition and meet proper safety protocols.
• Prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and ensure fleet readiness.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure parts and equipment.
• Oversee the upfitting process for first responder vehicles, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools and technology to support emergency operations.
• Support maintenance of the Department's asset management software to track vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules and inventory.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders, promptly responding to repair requests and informing them of maintenance progress. 
• Supervise a part-time mechanic.

Under the direction of the Director of Public Works or their designee, the Management Analyst I performs a variety of journey-level, professional and technical administrative duties in support of Public Works. Work assigned may be in a specific program area and/or to perform administrative duties in support of a division of Public Works or the department as a whole, including research and analysis. The incumbent plans, manages, implements, and evaluates assigned programs, systems, procedures and operations; and coordinates assignments with other departments and outside agencies. Performs other duties as assigned.

The Management Analyst I plays a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of the Public Works department and will be responsible for:

• Asset Management and Tracking: Facilitating the acceptance of new streets and utilities into the City’s inventory and maintaining meticulous records of maintenance activities through ArcGIS. 

• Optimizing Fleet Operations: Ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and requirements such as annual use reporting, emissions, registration, vehicle/fuel procurement and inventory systems. 

• Public Communications, Marketing, and Stakeholder Outreach: Assisting in the development and execution of public communication strategies, marketing campaigns, and stakeholder outreach initiatives to enhance community engagement and awareness of Public Works programs and projects.

• Department and Division Budgeting: Collaborating with departmental stakeholders to assist in budget preparation, tracking, forecasting, and contributing to the development and publication of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) bi-annually.

• Sanitary Sewer System Program Management: Supporting the management and implementation of the Sanitary Sewer System program by overseeing tasks such as managing and updating sewer lateral ordinances, updating sewer rates, calculating and tracking Equivalent Dwelling Units (EDUs), and updating the Sanitary System Management Plan and annual reporting Plan in compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Personnel Functions: Acting as a liaison to Human Resources and assisting in various personnel functions including recruiting, onboarding, training coordination, tracking, and calendar updates as necessary to ensure timely personnel management. 

• Contractor and Consultant Procurement: Supporting the procurement process for contractors and consultants, including contract administration and tracking of services rendered.

• Street, Tree and Neighborhood Assessment Districts: Managing Special District programs, including but not limited to, development of assessments, regular rate review and updates, stakeholder outreach, coordination and recommending required council action. 

Examples of Essential Duties (include but are not limited to):

• Support the assigned Department Head or manager in achieving division/department-wide goals and initiatives with analysis, management, and program development.
• Carry out special projects and assignments related to the overall objectives of the division or department. Examples of projects and assignments include but are not limited to: recruitment and training, grant-writing, research, marketing, public-private partnership opportunities, and others.
• Promote programs and stake; create marketing materials and newsletters and communicate with the public. 
• Perform research, conduct surveys, and provide statistical analysis and evaluation as assigned.
• Analyze federal and state laws and regulations as they relate to assigned programs and ensure appropriate compliance measures are included in policies and training.
• May be assigned to provide administrative support to a City board, commission, or committee which includes: preparing and distributing agendas, taking minutes, acting as a liaison.
• Coordinate and participate in training of personnel.
• Prepare comprehensive written reports regarding program activities.
• Regularly interact with other city staff, city council, community representatives and citizens regarding programs.
• Answer questions and provide information to the public, outside agencies, and City staff.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.

$96,681.00 - $105,865.50 Annually (Engineer I)
$101,653.50 - $122,440.50 Annually (Engineer II)

Description:
There are currently three (3) full-time vacancies between the Engineering and Construction Divisions that will be filled at the Engineer I or Engineer II level. Candidates will be considered for the level(s) for which they meet minimum qualifications.

The Engineer I – II series provides technical support of the assessment of infrastructure, engineering planning, development and construction of capital improvement projects, traffic engineering and operations, and review of private development projects for conformance with County standards and requirements. The Engineer I – II reviews, analyzes, and prepares studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, estimates, schedules, and correspondence related to a variety of projects such as land development, flood control and drainage systems, commercial buildings, roads, traffic control systems, bridges, and other structures.

Opportunity:
Highly qualified Engineer I – II candidates will have the ability to apply principles of logic and scientific reasoning to develop, evaluate, and recommend courses of action or solutions to complex problems. Highly qualified candidates will be able to communicate verbally and in writing to effectively convey technical data and information. The City of Sausalito is seeking a dynamic and innovative team player for the position of Librarian II at the Sausalito Public Library. Under general direction from the City Librarian, the Librarian II will support all programs and/or functional areas in the City Library, including identifying current and projecting future community needs and providing leadership to initiatives to improve library services.

The responsibilities assigned to the Librarian II will be primarily oriented towards services to children and young adults, including providing direct support to children attending the schools of the Sausalito Marin City School District and their teachers.

The incumbent will also perform a variety of professional librarian duties, such as reference services, collection development and management, and cataloging. The Librarian II manages the effective use of library resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service while providing highly complex and responsible support to the City Librarian in their areas of expertise, as well as performing related work as required.

DEFINITION:
Under general administrative direction of the City Manager, plans, directs, manages, and oversees the activities and operations of the Public Works Department including streets, utilities, water treatment and wastewater treatment, ensures all resources within each division are properly allocated and managed; provides long range planning for department programs, projects, and needs; coordinates assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:
The Director of Public Works is considered a Department Director with responsibility for directing the activities of a Department within the City. Positions at this class level serve as a member of the City's senior management team and provide advice and counsel to the City Manager regarding strategic policy and problem solving issues relating to the assigned Department and the City overall. The incumbent is responsible for accomplishing the City's goals and objectives related to assigned program areas.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Assumes full management responsibility for all Public Works Department services and activities including streets, utilities, water treatment, wastewater treatment.
• Manages the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, and priorities for each assigned service area; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
• Establishes, within City policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; allocates resources accordingly.
• Assesses and monitors workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identifies opportunities for improvement; directs and implements changes.
• Plans, directs, and coordinates, through subordinate level staff, the Public Works Department's work plan; assigns projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures; meets with key staff to identify and resolve problems.
•  Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures.
• Oversees and participates in the development and administration of the Public Works Department budget; approves the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; approves expenditures and implements budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary.
• Directs the activities and operations of the City's utilities, streets, and equipment maintenance programs; ensures maintenance activities are completed on time and within budget.
• Provides staff assistance to the City Manager; prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
• Represents the Public Works Department to other departments, elected officials, and outside agencies including community organizations; develops community resources; coordinates assigned activities with those of other departments and outside agencies and organizations.
• Explains, justifies, and defends department programs, policies, and activities; negotiates and resolves sensitive and controversial issues.
• Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.

The San Rafael Public Library is accepting applications for Substitute Librarians and Substitute Library Assistants to work in our San Rafael Public Libraries, including Downtown (1100 E Street), Pickleweed (50 Canal Street), and Northgate (5800 Northgate Drive, Ste. 083).  We are looking for people who are available on call, weekends, or other limited shifts.  This is a great opportunity for those interested in working at both a downtown and neighborhood branch libraries, as well as those excited by providing library services to a diverse community.  These are temporary positions, limited to 1,000 hours worked within a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30) and receive no City benefits.

Substitute Librarians perform professional-level library public service work, including answering reference questions, providing readers’ advisory, providing technical assistance, and presenting programs (as needed) for both adult and youth services.

Substitute Library Assistants perform circulation tasks such as checking materials in and out, and work at the public service desk for both adult and youth services, assisting patrons with basic requests including answering simple questions, creating new patron accounts, and referring patrons to other staff for more complex questions. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Substitute Librarians:

• Knowledge of Library Services and reference materials; readers advisory; professional practices and techniques of library science; and on-line library systems and information resources.
• Masters in library science issued by a college or university accredited by the American Library Association is preferred.
• Ability to work and effectively communicate with a diverse range of patrons.
• Bilingual in Spanish desired.

Substitute Library Assistants:

• Knowledge of basic office practices and procedures, including the operation of standard office equipment; alphabetical, numerical, and topical filing systems; material organization and structure of libraries; including categories of materials and general arrangement; library technical services terminology and equipment including on-line databases.
• Experience working in public libraries preferred.
• Ability to work and effectively communicate with a diverse range of patrons.
• Bilingual in Spanish desired.
