Performs a variety of physical, chemical, biological and bacteriological analyses of water and wastewater according to standard methods and procedures; collects samples, calculates and records analytical results, maintains accurate records including quality assurance, and performs related work as required.

The Assistant Engineer performs paraprofessional engineering duties in such areas as reviewing development plans, estimating costs, coordinating construction projects, maintaining engineering records, and developing in-house project designs and specifications using engineering techniques.
DEFINITIONUnder the general supervision of a Public Works Streets Supervisor or Parks & Grounds Supervisor, and direction of a Maintenance II lead, incumbents in this classification assist with the cleanup and maintenance of City parks, streets, and satellite facilities including buildings, equipment, bus stops, parking lots, trails, flora and landscapes; and, perform related work as required.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICSThis is a seasonal, part-time position.
Under the general direction of the Administrative Services & Human Resources Director/Risk Manager, manage, plan, coordinate, participate in, and supervise the activities of the Fleet Section including all new vehicle purchasing, vehicle maintenance, and vehicle disposal. Assigned functions are equipment and vehicle mechanic services which City personnel and contractors provide. This is an exempt, mid-management level position that is charged with managing the Fleet function to include related regulatory compliance requirements and reporting.
