Under general supervision, provides a variety of routine to complex clerical support services within assigned police areas, including but not limited to: typing, word processing, transcribing detailed and confidential material, record keeping and filing, and assisting with the administration of the Police Department’s budget. CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

The Police Office Assistant is a journey-level position, fully competent to independently perform a variety of office support duties. All positions are characterized by the presence of fairly clear guidelines from which to make decisions and the availability of supervision in non- routine circumstances. Specific duties, including the amount of typing, word processing, and use of on-line or personal computers, will vary with the organization unit to which assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only):

• Types correspondence, reports, and specialized documents related to the functions of the police unit to which assigned from drafts, notes, dictated tapes, or brief instructions, using a typewriter or word processor.
• Proofreads and edits as necessary typed and other materials for accuracy, completeness, compliance with departmental policies and correct English usage, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Enters and retrieves data and prepares reports from an on-line or personal computer system, following established formats.
• Prepares and updates a variety of reports which may require the use of arithmetic calculations.
• Maintains records and processes forms such as payroll records, purchase requisitions and orders, and others specific to the organizational unit.
• Provides clerical support to the department in the implementation of operational business plans.
• Assists in the administration of internal and external contracts for interagency services with other agencies.
• Assists the Police Office Coordinator with the administration of the department budget by monitoring the budget for variances, recommending budget transfers, and balancing the overall budget at year-end.
• Establishes and maintains office files, researches and compiles information from such files.
• Provides factual information regarding City or unit activities and functions.
• Accesses confidential local, state and federal databases.
• Views and handles confidential backgrounds and personnel files of prospective and future employees.
• Reviews computer produced reports for accuracy and makes corrections as required.
• Operates standard office equipment and performs such office support activities as opening and distributing mail; processing outgoing mail, erasing dictation tapes and ordering supplies.
• Issues and maintains identification files; seals juvenile and adult arrest records.
• Receives subpoenas, notifies appropriate parties and maintains subpoena files.
• Handles confidential information, including case files, criminal information bulletins, fingerprints, and other related material.
• Serves as the Police Department’s back-up liaison to the Finance Department on matters concerning the Police Department budget.
• Processes the Department’s payroll and time sheets.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department.  We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

The Burlingame Police Department is divided into two divisions: Operations and Administration.  The force currently consists of 40 police officers, made up of the Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 2 Inspectors, and 22 Patrol Officers.

We are active in county-wide law enforcement efforts by participating in the San Mateo County Gang Task Force, Avoid the 23 (DUI) Task Force, Narcotic Task Force Details, Alcohol Beverage Control Operations, Office of Traffic Safety grants and as Police Academy Training Officers.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc.  In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Patrol various areas within the City by driving a police vehicle or by walking to prevent criminal activity, to enforce various laws, regulations, and codes.
• Respond to radio dispatched calls and reports to crime scenes or locations of disorder to protect life and property.
• Conduct investigations, gathers information and writes factual reports involving criminal activity, traffic accidents, suspicious activity, or other unusual incidents.
• Make arrests as necessary and writes report of all arrests made and activities performed.
• Interview and interrogate suspicious persons, suspects, and prisoners.
• Gather, mark, preserve, and record evidence in criminal or related matters; testify and present evidence in court.
• Serve warrants and subpoenas.
• Assist in the performance of special investigations and perform undercover and surveillance activities when necessary.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of:

• State laws, local regulations, ordinances, and codes including laws or arrest, current court decisions, General Police procedures and rules.
• Standard police broadcasting procedures and codes.
• Proper use of departmental firearms.

Skills:

• Operation of police vehicle at high rates of speed during emergency situations.
• Use police vehicle radios as well as hand-held portables and use proper radio codes.
• Use hand-held and/or electronic equipment for drug and alcohol detection.
• Ability to process for and lift latent evidence.
• Finger print and take palm prints from arrestees.
• Use departmentally issued firearms safely and safety equipment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must be a US Citizen, at least 21 years of age on date of appointment, a US high school graduate (or GED equivalent), have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.  Must be able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions, read, comprehend, write, and speak English effectively.

Entry Level - Proof of completing the POST Written Test and Physical Agility Test with a passing score.

Lateral Police Officer - To be considered for a lateral Police Officer appointment, candidates must have prior experience as a sworn law enforcement officer within the past twelve (12) months, including the completion of the field training program and probation period with a law enforcement agency.

ABOUT THE SECTION
The Regional Planning Program section at MTC\ABAG is a multidisciplinary team that applies data-driven planning to improve the trajectory of the San Francisco Bay Area. One of our core deliverables is Plan Bay Area, which we update every four years. This long-range plan lays out a set of strategies for how to achieve a region that is affordable, connected, diverse, healthy and vibrant for all. In developing the plan, our team takes on some of the most difficult and important challenges facing the region: how to make living in the region affordable for existing and future residents, how to create a safe and effective transportation system, and how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The section consists of four teams: Major Plans, Transportation Planning, Housing and Local Planning, and Forecasting/Modeling and Surveys. 

This principal position is within the Forecasting/Modeling and Surveys (FMS) team, which conducts data analysis and develops and applies modeling tools to analyze the impacts of potential strategies for Plan Bay Area. Our team strives to create quality modeling tools that embody our sections goals for planning excellence; we emphasize transparency by creating open-source models, and we value collaboration with other agencies and partners in developing shared resources. The FMS team focuses on the application of economic models, urban development models, and travel models, including developing new features for some of these models as new analysis needs arise. FMS also conducts regular travel diary surveys and transit passenger surveys to inform these tools and other research questions of interest to the agency. 

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Principal Modeler in Model Development will lead development of our travel modeling tools to assess our region’s future and to evaluate potential strategies and policies to improve quality of life. In this role, the Principal Modeler will manage a consulting team working in travel model development, developing both major and minor features as needed for the travel model and associated tools. This will involve project management as well as hands-on development work. The Principal Modeler will also be involved in developing other modeling and modeling-related tools relevant to long-range planning, including land use forecasting models, population synthesis tools, and others. This role will also involve working with internal and external stakeholders to prioritize feature development and bug fixes for these tools. Finally, this role will include mentoring staff in technical development, representing MTC before a variety of groups, agencies, organizations, elected officials, and the public, requiring the ability to communicate effectively about technical topics with non-technical stakeholders; and performing other job related duties as required. 

Responsibilities
The development and release of future versions of MTC’s modeling tools, including:

• Implementing or updating features
• Managing a consultant team in model development and network development tools. This includes reviewing pull requests and deliverables; project and budget management; discussing and resolving budget issues with appropriate staff and responsible agencies; negotiating, preparing and administering contracts, proposals, task orders and agreements.
• Model calibration, validation and documentation
• Presenting Model Development progress and features to stakeholders within the agency and with agency partners.

THE DEPARTMENT

The San Rafael Police Department (SRPD) is deeply committed to building a better San Rafael community – providing essential services, quality of life programs, and working to enhance community safety for everyone in San Rafael. The department works to meet these goals with approved headcount of 93 FTE and an operating budget of approximately $31 million in Fiscal Year 2025-26.

THE POSITION

The Open Space Ranger will primarily work in the open space areas of incorporated San Rafael.  The Ranger will be responsible for judiciously enforcing all laws, with particular emphasis on identifying unlawful campsites mitigating fire hazards, and coordinating with other private, city, county, and state agencies to clean up the campsites.  They will work with patrol officers, business owners, residents, and other members of the public to prevent crime, resolve problems, and solve crime.  The Ranger is responsible for keeping accurate records and must remain organized.  The Ranger will use a variety of methods to accomplish their goals, including foot patrol, bicycle patrol, 4-wheel drive truck, and the ATV.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to): 

• Patrol designated open space areas within the City using foot, bicycle, ATV, and four-wheel drive vehicle patrols.
• Enforce federal, state, and local laws and City ordinances, with particular emphasis on open space regulations.
• Identify, investigate, and address unlawful encampments in open space areas in coordination with City, County, and State partners.
• Mitigate public safety and environmental hazards, including fire risk, illegal dumping, and resource damage.
• Mitigate fire risk through ignition reduction, coordination with Marin Wildfire Prevention Officers, and vegetation abatement for fire road access.
• Removal of ignition sources (warming fires, propane tanks, etc.) in open space.
• Conduct proactive crime prevention, enforcement, and problem-solving activities in parks and open space areas.
• Respond to calls for service related to open space areas, including quality-of-life issues, suspicious activity, and criminal behavior.
• Coordinate cleanup operations with Public Works, Parks, Fire Code Enforcement, and outside agencies.
• Engage with community members, hikers, residents, business owners, and visitors to promote safety and voluntary compliance.
• Prepare clear, accurate, and timely reports, citations, and documentation related to enforcement actions and activitIes.
• Collect evidence, conduct investigations, and follow up on criminal cases occurring in open space areas.
• Provide court testimony as required.
• Assist with emergency response operations, including search and rescue and wildfire-related incidents.
• Maintain familiarity with open space geography, access routes, and environmental sensitivities.
• Perform related duties as assigned in support of Department and City objectives.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Possession of California P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate or completion of a California P.O.S.T. approved basic academy.
• No college and/or previous experience required.
• U.S. Citizen and at least age 21.
• Valid driver's license.

DEFINITION

Responsible for the day-to-day responsibilities related to municipal traffic operations within the Town of Danville. Perform a variety of professional and technical level traffic and transportation engineering tasks, including traffic system planning, design and operation, and traffic control systems.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Transportation Manager.  May exercise supervision over additional professional, technical and/or support staff as assigned. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Conduct technical and administrative work in the functional areas of traffic operations, Downtown area, residential parking, and transportation planning and design.
• Manage the Town’s traffic signal and traffic control devices network in conjunction with the Transportation Manager.
• Serve as the public interface for matters related to traffic safety and circulation; develop and implement solutions with creative and professional use of acceptable traffic engineering standards. 
• Prepare traffic studies related to local traffic circulation and review traffic studies generated through the development review process, as directed.
• Review civil and public improvements plans for transportation related infrastructure.
• Review collision reports and prepare and maintain collision diagrams.
• Conduct and maintain Traffic and Engineering Surveys.
• Review and comment on traffic signal plans and assist with oversight of traffic signal construction and modifications, as directed.
• Work in collaboration with traffic signal maintenance personnel to manage and troubleshoot issues related to traffic signal operations/equipment and electronic traffic control devices.
• Monitor traffic signal network operations through the Town’s centralized traffic signal monitoring system.
• Serve as project manager for transportation-related Capital Improvement Projects and studies, as directed.
• Conduct special research projects, including compiling and analyzing information; develop recommendations on courses of action; deliver concise, effective presentations to the Town Council, Town Commissions and members of the public.
• Coordinate with Police Department personnel to respond to public concerns related to traffic safety and circulation and parking.
• Provide staff support to other departments, boards, and commissions as directed.
• Coordinate with regional transportation agencies on transportation projects and funding opportunities, as directed.
• Maintain current program content on Town websites.
• Prepare and manage professional services contracts.
• Research and stay current on traffic engineering and transportation planning regulations, practices and technology.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Fundamentals of traffic engineering inclusive of multi-modal transportation applications and practices.
• Signs and pavement markings standards; intersection and roadway capacity practices; intersection design; residential street design and traffic control.
• Transportation impact study elements and preparation processes; traffic signal operations; on‑ and off‑street parking standards; traffic control devices; and pavement management.
• GIS, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office and general software applications.
• Traffic engineering-related software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and Crossroads is preferred.

Ability to:

• Interpret plans and specifications; some GIS knowledge.
• Research and stay current on traffic engineering and transportation planning regulations, practices and technology.
• Prepare clear and concise written reports and correspondence, deliver presentations before the Town Council and members of the public, and facilitate meetings.
• Design and review traffic control plans.
• Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with fellow employees and outside agencies in a team approach and the public.
• Work a varied schedule, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Five (5) years of increasingly responsible full-time experience or eight (8) years of part-time experience in traffic engineering, or closely related field, including drafting, surveying, and other specialized traffic training, licensure, etc. Background in transportation, planning, transportation engineering, or public administration in a community development environment is desirable. Public sector experience preferred. 

Education:

An Associate degree in transportation planning, transportation engineering, or closely related field. 

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)

Possession of a valid California State Driver's License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire. Professional Engineer, Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, or California Traffic Engineers license is preferred. Valid Construction Zone Safety Certification. Valid Signs and Markings Certification.

The Management Analyst (Technology Project Manager) will serve as the department’s strategic technology lead, driving innovation, operational improvement, and digital service delivery across Community Development. This position manages major enterprise systems such as Accela Civic Platform, oversees internal process improvement initiatives, leads technology-focused policy initiatives, oversees customer-facing tools and communications in partnership with internal teams, and acts as the primary liaison to IT and other departments for technology implementation. This position receives direction from Assistant Director, and supervises Business Analysts specializing in Accela Operations, and Enterprise Knowledge.

The role requires a unique blend of systems thinking, project management, user-centered design, and policy insight to shape the tools and workflows used by planners, permit technicians, inspectors, plan checkers, and external customers. 

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Strong project management skills 
• Comfort leading cross-functional initiatives from concept to completion.
• Experience with permit management systems (Accela preferred), data integration, and process improvement in a government or regulated environment.

Budget Position

The Budget Division produces the City’s biennial operating and capital budgets, develops long-term financial projections, analyzes and reports on the budget performance during the year, and works collaboratively with departments on any necessary budget analyses and amendments.

his position requires a highly agile and responsive professional capable of operating in a fast-paced environment. The role demands the ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to rapidly evolving and high-demand conditions, and provide timely procurement support to the City’s Electric Department, Silicon Valley Power. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Considerable knowledge of principles and procedures related to purchasing,
• Considerable knowledge of contract administration, including solicitation methods including RFQs, RFBs, and RFPs,
• Good knowledge of laws, policies and procedures governing public procurement,

The City of Redwood City is recruiting for a dynamic individual to fill the position of ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City, Police Department invites you to apply for the position of Administrative Secretary. The incumbent will perform a variety of confidential and complex secretarial and administrative duties as the court liaison as well as providing support to the Investigations Unit.

Typical duties may include the following: interact professionally and effectively with judges, district attorneys, defense attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement personnel, outside agencies, and members of the public; provide administrative and operational support for court-related functions and law enforcement investigations within the Police Department; prepare, process, maintain, and distribute court documents, reports, subpoenas, warrants, confidential criminal justice information, and related records in accordance with department policies, legal requirements, and confidentiality standards; serve as a liaison between the Police Department, courts, the District Attorney’s Office, and other agencies regarding scheduling, case information, filings, warrants, subpoenas, records, procedural matters, and time-sensitive deadlines; ensure criminal cases are adequately prepared for court proceedings by reviewing, analyzing, and organizing reports, citations, case files, digital evidence, body-worn camera footage, surveillance video, photographs, audio recordings, and related investigative materials for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with legal, statutory, and departmental requirements; respond to complaints and requests for information regarding department procedures, court processes, instructions, precedents, and regulations; research, compile, and analyze data for special projects and reports; initiate, maintain, and audit files, records, and databases related to court operations, case management, evidence, warrants, and other department records; assist with records retention and compliance with applicable laws, policies, and confidentiality requirements; maintain and update manuals, policies, and resource materials; monitor compliance with court orders, subpoenas, and legal deadlines; exercise independent judgment and discretion while working in a fast-paced environment involving sensitive and confidential information; provide backup support to other Police Department administrative staff as needed; and perform related duties as assigned.
