Salary Range: $91,055 - $124,099*

THE POSITION

Rocklin Police Officers perform law enforcement and crime prevention duties involved in the protection of life and property; perform traffic control and enforce state and local traffic regulations; perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of law enforcement services and activities; and perform related duties as assigned. An example of duties are:

• Assumes responsibility for the preservation of the public peace and the protection of life and property by preventing crime and enforcing all laws.
• Patrols an assigned area in an automobile, other vehicle, or on foot for the purpose of preventing criminal activity and enforcing traffic laws and regulations; issues citations and makes arrests as necessary; responds to calls for protection of life and property and performs enforcement duties.
• Conducts interviews with victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects; searches crime scenes for evidence; collects, packages, and preserves evidence; testifies in court.
• Detects, pursues, apprehends, and arrests or detains persons involved in crimes or misconduct; confronts and arrests violent combative subjects; books and transports prisoners; serves warrants and subpoenas.
• Conducts preliminary or follow-up investigations; prepares reports on arrests made, activities performed, and unusual incidents observed.
• Directs traffic and/or performs crowd control during special events and in emergency situations.
• Perform field training officer duties as assigned.
• Coordinates and cooperates with outside agencies, other law enforcement agencies, and organizations to provide information or assistance as needed.
• Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.
• Actively develops and fosters community partnerships and demonstrates integrity and professionalism within the organization and community.
• Represents the City and the department in a courteous, professional manner

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by 30 college-level semester units from a regionally accredited educational institution;

AND

Current employment as a full-time, sworn peace officer in a California POST participating law enforcement department or agency AND one (1) year of full-time experience as a sworn law enforcement officer in a California POST participating law enforcement department or agency;

OR

Current employment as a full-time, sworn peace officer in another state AND one (1) year of fulltime experience as a sworn law enforcement officer AND possess a Basic Course Waiver from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Possession of a POST Basic Certificate or possession of a Basic Course Waiver from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

Working Conditions

Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation.

Must be willing to work emergencies as well as evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Must meet physical, psychological, and background standards established by POST as well as ongoing peace officer requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation. This classification requires wearing respiratory protective equipment at times. When assigned to such work, facial hair must be shaven when it interferes with the safe fitting of respiratory protective equipment. This classification functions as a peace officer within the authority and limits of California Penal Code Sections 830.1(a) and 832.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants will be screened against the minimum requirements. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be invited to attend a Physical Ability Test (PAT).

Those who receive a passing score on the PAT will be invited to a Structured Oral Examination.

The City of Rocklin is excited to announce a recruitment for Police Officer Trainees. The City will be hiring recruits to send to the Police Academy.

Applicants are advised to read the entire job posting and follow all directions to ensure a complete application. 

The successful candidates will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee and must successfully complete a twenty-four (24) week P.O.S.T. Basic Course Police Academy. The academy is not a live-in academy and the selected candidate must be able to commute to the academy location daily.

Upon satisfactory graduation from a P.O.S.T. Basic Course Police Academy, a Police Recruit meeting the requirements of the Police Officer classification shall be advanced to the career classification of Police Officer.

Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation to be considered for this position. Candidates must be 21 years of age at time of academy graduation. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. Candidates must meet physical, psychological, and background standards established by POST as well as ongoing peace officer requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation.

Examination Process:

1. Application Review

All applications submitted will be reviewed for minimum qualifications. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be moved forward to the next step of the examination process. 2. PELLET-B Written Exam and Physical Agility Test

Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the Police Officer Trainee will be invited to participate in the PELLET-B Written Exam and the Physical Agility Test. These exams are tentatively scheduled for June 29, 2024. 

PELLET-B

All candidates must either submit a PELLET-B score dated June of 2023 or later or must participate in the City of Rocklin's test administration. 

If you have already taken the PELLET-B within the past year, you may submit your PELLET-B score with your application. 

Physical Agility Test
 

The City of Rocklin does not accept physical agility scores from other agencies. You must participate in and pass our agility test to advance in the selection process. The Physical Agility Test includes a 99 yard obstacle course; a fence climb - both a six (6) foot solid fence and six (6) foot chain link fence will be assessed, a body drag of a 165lb dummy approximately 32 feet, and a 500 yard run. 

3. Structured Oral Examination

The top candidates that successfully pass both the written and physical ability examinations may be invited to participate in an oral panel interview. 

DEFINITION
Under immediate supervision, actively participates in the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) prescribed police training academy; performs all related learning and testing activities in preparation for the Police Officer classification; and performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives immediate supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This is the non-sworn, entry-level classification in the Police Officer class series responsible for learning and becoming proficient in the understanding of law enforcement tasks, policies, procedures, and standards. Upon successful completion of the police academy training program, incumbents may be appointed to the sworn classification of Police Officer.

This class is distinguished from the Police Officer classification in that the latter is the sworn, journey-level class in the series that has responsibility for preserving public peace, protection of life and property, prevention of crime; and enforcement of all laws.

 

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
 

• Attends the police academy and actively participates in all studies, assignments, and tasks.
• Completes all required assignments, tests, and follows all instructions relative to the academy curriculum and behavior.
• Develops proficiency in criminal law, arrest and control techniques, use of firearms report writing, vehicle operation, first aid and CPR, narcotics identification, crowd control, court room demeanor, public relations, patrol procedures, physical conditioning and training, and any other subjects included in the academy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Employees primarily work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees also work in the field and frequently may be exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibrations, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous chemical substances and fumes. The City of Lincoln is accepting applications for the position of Refuse Truck Driver II in the Solid Waste division of the Public Works department. Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of tasks in the collection of residential, commercial and industrial solid waste refuse; drive and operate refuse collection vehicles; organize, assign and review the work of others and perform other related duties as required.  

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Refuse Truck Driver II

This is a journey level class and is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker I classification by the ability to perform the full range of duties assigned with only occasional instruction or assistance as unusual or unique situations arise. This class is distinguished from the Senior Refuse Truck Diver in that the latter provides technical and functional supervision over assigned staff or division programs and responsibilities.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. May receive technical and functional supervision from a Senior Refuse Truck Driver.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Drives and operates a variety of collection vehicles and equipment including one or two-person-staffed refuse collection truck, front, rear and side loaders in the collection and transportation of residential and commercial refuse; responds to afterhours call-outs if assigned.
• Maintains assigned truck by regular cleaning and washing, including inspecting for mechanical or other operating problems; reports mechanical or related problems for maintenance; may perform minor maintenance as appropriate.
• Operates hydraulic/mechanical controls to load, compress, and dump refuse; collects and disposes of debris on assigned route; transports refuse to/unload at appropriate landfill sites and/or sewage treatment plant.
• Assists with battery sorting, electronic waste collection, bin repair or delivery, cardboard removal, illegal dumping cleanup, and any other related solid waste program or assignment.
• Completes and posts notification tags on containers, bins and dumpsters for unacceptable contents for refuse collection.
• Prepares, maintains and submits records, reports and forms including time records, equipment and maintenance records, and route maps and logs.
• Responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff and the public.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for one individual to serve as a Medical Assistant for the Medication Support Team. The Medical Assistant performs a variety of routine to moderately difficult clerical, administrative, and technical duties in support of licensed medical professionals; takes vital signs, obtains complete client medical histories, and performs various support duties such as entering data and information into various databases and computer systems; and performs related duties as assigned.

• Assists in the examination, treatment, and care of clients in an outpatient setting, according to instructions from licensed medical staff, Authority procedure, and scope of authority.

 

• Takes client vital signs, weight and height, and documents basic medical information obtained from client including medical and medication histories; reports any observed abnormalities or changes in client vitals to appropriate staff.

 

• Receives, logs, and stores oral, injectable, and sample medications; monitors inventory levels and expiration dates; discards of expired medications according to policy.

 

• Assists and observes clients self-dispense medication as prescribed by a  psychiatrist and administers scheduled injections.

 

• Conducts medication checks on clients to assess their overall medication management capabilities; takes appropriate action if client poses danger with respect to the use or abuse of medication; observes, evaluates, records, and reports to professional staff changes in client’s condition.

 

• Participates in interdisciplinary team treatment planning, staff training functions, utilization and peer review activities, and clinical supervision.

 

• Perform other duties as assigned.
