The City of Marysville is excited to announce the employment opportunity for a Firefighter!  We are seeking energetic and outstanding individuals to join our team. 

This particular recruitment will be a 56 hour (Monday-Friday) position - with the exception of emergencies and Strike Teams.  The base weekly schedule will resemble the following example: 

Monday - 8 hours

Tuesday - 8 hours

Wednesday - 8 hours

Thursday - 24 hours

Friday - 8 hours

Our Firefighters perform firefighting, rescue, fire prevention, equipment operation and equipment maintenance activities to protect life and property; provide emergency medical and rescue services to the community; and perform related duties and responsibilities as required. The Firefighter classification receives direct supervision from the Fire Captain and may receive functional direction from the Fire Engineer.

This is the entry level paid classification in the field of firefighting. It is distinguished from the classification of Fire Engineer in that the latter is assigned more responsible and varied duties which require knowledge and experience in driving motorized fire fighting vehicles and operating related pumping, hydraulic and other specialized fire equipment.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Responds to fires, emergency rescues, first aid, fire alarms, natural and man-made disasters, and public assist service calls.
• Operates a variety of tools, power driven equipment and vehicles related to fire suppression and rescue activities.
• Connects and lays hose lines; assists in holding nozzles to direct streams of water; carries and operates various fire extinguishers and other firefighting appliances; operates engine pumping equipment as required.
• Raises, lowers and climbs ladders; makes forcible entry into buildings when necessary; ventilates buildings and searches for victims.
• Assists in overhaul, salvage and cleanup operations at any incident.
• Performs housekeeping and station maintenance.
• Studies Fire Department rules and regulations, fire hazards, firefighting techniques and related subjects.
• Participates and assists in administration of on-going training programs; attends drills, meetings, and staff conferences.
• Operates ventilation equipment; administers first aid.
• Cleans, services, inspects and test firefighting equipment and apparatus.
• Conducts inspections of building, structures, and properties for compliance with building, safety and related City codes.
• Answers general questions from the public.
• Prepares and updates reports, logs, maps, and other departmental records as needed.
• Makes recommendations to improve the manner in which the job is performed and to deliver the highest quality of service to the public.
• Studies and trains on Fire Department rules and regulations, fire hazards, firefighting techniques, and other related emergency subjects.
• Maintains regular, consistent, and timely attendance.
• May be assigned to drive and operate fire department vehicles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (position requirements at entry) *

Knowledge of:

• Principles, practices, and procedures of modern fire prevention and suppression methods.
• Operation and maintenance of firefighting equipment, tools, and devices.
• Applicable local, State and Federal laws, and departmental rules and regulations.
• Water hydraulics, principles of fire streams and proper pump pressures, and fire behavior.
• First aid, CPR, and other rescue procedures.
• Safety practices, fire hazards, and potentially dangerous situations as they relate to fire prevention, fire suppression, fire investigation, rescue, emergency situations and hazardous materials.
• Geography of the local area including location of hydrants and mains, major traffic areas, and fire hazards.
• English usage, spelling and grammar.
• Modern office equipment, computers. and software.

Ability to:*

• Perform fire suppression, fire prevention and fire inspection activities in emergency situations in accordance with applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations.
• Demonstrate a high degree of mechanical aptitude as required in the operation and maintenance of the firefighting and rescue equipment.
• Think and act quickly and effectively in emergencies within established guidelines.
• Administer first aid including CPR.
• Drive fire and rescue vehicles with care and safety in accordance with traffic laws and ordinances.
• Keep simple records and prepare reports.
• Utilize basic arithmetic, including decimals, ratios, percentages, and fractions.
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Individuals in this class may have minimal direct experience and will work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks. As an incumbent’s responsibilities and breadth of knowledge increase and as they gain experience, they can reasonably expect the complexity of their assignments and/or responsibility to increase. General supervision is provided by a higher level professional or management position.  A Recreation Leader may provide lead direction to part-time or seasonal employees if applicable. Under the general direction of the Recreation Supervisor or the Parks & Recreation Director. with project oversight by Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader assists with developing, organizing, implementing, and leading a broad range of recreational activities and programs for all ages designed to meet the community needs and performs other related work required. 

Part-Time: Up to 20 hours a week 

This classification is for the City Clerk (CC) and Assistant to the City Manager (ACM); due to this caveat this classification specification will list duties and responsibilities for the two (2) positions.
To perform a variety of administrative and managerial responsibilities in the conduct and management of the activities of preparing City Council agendas, minutes, and Council packets, as well as responding to Public Records request and maintaining all official City records.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Reports to and receives general direction from the City Manager. May exercise direct supervision over clerical staff.

Provides continuous leadership in carrying out the program mission, as amended from time to time, including:
• Maintains records and prepares daily reports related to work performed.
• Compile information for agenda preparation; collect background information; assemble agenda for printing; distribute packets to City Council and various agencies.
• Prepare and distribute updates and revisions of Council Policy and those of city boards, commissions, and committees.
• Respond to inquiries from the public by letter, telephone and in person regarding Council action and records; research information for public or city staff when necessary.
• Maintain administrative files including historical legal documents, resolutions, ordinances, agreements, deeds and annexations.
• Serve as custodian of the city seal and city archivist for official records.
• Process all municipal elections to County Elections Office and maintain election files for all municipal/special elections; receive initiatives and process accordingly.

• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other city employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Process Worker’s Compensation Claims and coordinate other confidential HR-related activities.

Accounting Technician II 

$24.93 - $31.91 Hourly 

Full-Time

The Accounting Technician II is an advanced journey-level class responsible for the City's payroll processing, distribution, and required reporting, including records maintenance, management, and the preparation of payroll reports in accordance with union agreements and City, state, and federal rules and regulations.  Incumbents exercise considerable judgment in decision-making in day-to-day payroll operations.  Responsible for a full range of financial record-keeping transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, collection, and taxation.  Incumbents may be assigned various accounting-related responsibilities and are expected to perform more detailed non-professional accounting duties.  

Accounting Technician II is under general supervision, plans, organizes, and reviews the work of the Finance Department payroll and accounting section; performs the full array of para-professional accounting duties involved in the processing of payroll and the maintenance of the payroll system; reviews and reconciles payroll reports and prepares journal entries; provide information to departments and employees regarding payroll issues; performs point-of-capture data entry related to cash receipts and accounts payable transactions; prepares, processes and verifies bookkeeping entries affecting general and subsidiary ledgers; performs customer service functions with the public and/or accounts payable vendors both in person and over the phone performs other related duties as required. 

Receives general supervision from the Fiscal Manager.  Exercises technical and functional supervision over assigned office support staff. 

BILINGUAL PREFFERED

Summary

Under direction, leads, oversees, and participates in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for performing a wide variety of responsible clerical and technical accounting work involved in performing financial record keeping and reporting duties in support of assigned accounting system, function, or program area including in the areas of utility billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, business licenses, and revenue collection and cash management; provides information and assistance to the general public and City departments; maintains file and records; and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the advanced journey level class in the Account Clerk series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series including responsibility for leading and performing the full range of accounting clerical duties related to payroll, business licenses, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures and able to perform the full scope of duties of the Account Clerk II and have a more in-depth knowledge specific to assigned area.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the County-wide classification of Senior Accounting Technician. The current vacancy exists within the Treasurer – Tax Collector’s Office. Under direction, the incumbent performs a variety of technical financial and accounting duties that require a specialized knowledge; provide administrative support to assigned supervisor; perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series, which may include providing lead direction over assigned personnel and performing duties including, but not limited to, verifying and updating assessment tax roll information, leading the centralized payroll function, and assisting with the preparation of budget documents and perform other duties as assigned. This is the advanced journey level in the technical accounting series. 

This is a County-wide classification. The employment list established from this recruitment may be utilized to fill additional vacancies within the same classification in other departments if they arise during the duration of the list.

The City of Patterson is recruiting for a Fire Prevention Inspector.  This position performs fire inspection and fire prevention activities; enforces fire codes, laws and regulations related to fire protection, prevention and safety;  inspects new and existing buildings and a variety of structures, sprinkler systems and alarm systems; conducts plan and specification reviews to ensure compliance with fire codes; enforces the City and Fire District's weed abatement ordinance; develops and administers the Department’s public fire safety education programs and public relations programs; investigates routine complaints of fire/life safety hazards; establishes and maintains a variety of records and files on program activities; conducts research and writes a variety of reports; and performs related duties as required.

The City of Patterson is currently recruiting to fill one (1) vacancy for a part-time Facility Custodian with the Recreation & Community Services Department and to establish an Eligibility List.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under general supervision, performs routine custodial and cleaning duties in municipal buildings and adjacent grounds; performs related work as assigned.

This is a part time position with hours up to 19 hours per week.  Must be available to work nights and weekends with varying shifts and schedules.  

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time vacancy for a Facility Attendant in the Recreation Department and to establish an eligibility list.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, performs a variety of facility related tasks to ensure effective operations at the Recreation and Community Services Complex and related facilities and parks. Prepares facilities for use; works with users during events; provides set-up and arrangements for classes, meetings, and public and private events; registers participants for recreational programs; assists with cleaning and maintaining of Community Services' facilities including removing and disposing of trash, sweeping, and mopping of floors.  Provides staff support for recreation events and programs. 

This is a part-time position with hours up to 19 hours per week.  Must be available to work nights and weekends with varying shifts and schedules.
