San Jose’s Human Resources Department offers key strategic support to the City and is responsible for the following core services:

• Employee Benefits – Provide benefit programs that best meet the needs of employees, retirees, their dependents, and the City, assist participants in effectively utilizing their plans and promote employee wellness.

We are looking for an Active Transportation Planner to help the City of Sunnyvale to implement and improve bicycle, pedestrian and Safe Routes to School infrastructure and programs. This position will perform professional transportation planning and general design in bicycle, pedestrian and automobile integration, the use of different types of bicycle facilities and alternative modes of transportation.

The position will have a primary focus on the implementation, reporting and further development of the City’s active transportation network and programs. This will include public outreach, coordination with various departments, and other governmental agencies.

We are seeking a candidate that can communicate effectively with various stakeholders, think critically and objectively, able to learn quickly, and understand how to work within a process to achieve goals.

SENIOR ENGINEER

The City of Sunnyvale is positioning itself to be a leader in environmental sustainability through it’s Climate Action Playbook and is looking to hire a Senior Engineer to be a part of the team. As a Senior Engineer, you will help us plan, design, and build infrastructure to support the goals and objectives to create a more sustainable, healthy, and livable Sunnyvale. This is an excellent opportunity for forward-thinking, project management engineers to apply and be a part of creating the future.
 
Ideal candidates will have both strong project/program management skills and the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate and build relationships.
 
The current open position is in the Department of Public Works working for both the Engineering Division and Traffic and Transportation Division. Senior Engineers are working managers. The position primarily works on capital projects and developing transportation policies related to the Climate Action Playbook, but may occasionally support land development engineering efforts for planning purposes.
