DEFINITION

Provide analytical, coordination and operational support within the Development Services Department; primarily responsible for transportation planning functions. Provides secondary support to economic development and special events programs. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Transportation Manager.  May exercise supervision over technical and/or support staff as assigned. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Implement and administer the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program.
• Assist in the implementation of other programs and projects within the functional areas of the team (e.g., Street Smarts, Traffix, SWAT, etc.).
• Serve as project manager on assigned transportation programs and related projects, which includes background research, environmental review, preparation of public notices and staff reports, coordination of meetings and hearings, and oversight of implementation.
• Represent Danville on assigned regional transportation forums, including committees and subcommittees of the Contra Costa Transportation Authority and Tri-valley Transportation Council.
• Attend regional transportation meetings and ensure the Town’s positions are represented; advocate when directed and appropriate; participate on various local interagency and interdepartmental boards and committees; facilitate committee meetings as assigned.
• Perform funding/grant development and administration, including conducting research, identifying regional, state, and federal funding sources, writing proposals, preparing grant applications, and programming and administering awarded grant funds.
• Provide support to other departments, boards and commissions, and the general public.
• Conduct special research projects, including gathering, compiling and analyzing information; provide alternatives and make recommendations on courses of action; give presentations on findings.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of program budgets, monitor expenditures and revenues to ensure availability of funds, initiate invoices, and facilitate collection of funds.
• Administer Danville’s public electric vehicle charging program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Modern principles and practices of transportation and urban planning.
• Project management skills; experience with development of transportation program development and coordinating the planning and design of transportation projects.
• Federal, state, and local transportation grant applications and administration.
• Methods and techniques of effective report preparation and presentation.
• Techniques for effectively representing the Town with the public, community groups, business community, and other professional and regulatory agencies.

Ability to:

• Interpret and explain transportation programs; identify and respond to issues and concerns of the general public, Town Council, and other boards and commissions.
• Provide exceptional customer service and maintain effective relationships with co-workers, management, elected officials, and the general public.
• Read and understand technical drawings and specifications and conduct an analysis of transportation and planning related documents.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Two (2) years of full-time or four (4) years of part-time related professional experience, with a background in transportation, planning, traffic engineering, or public administration.  Public sector experience desirable. 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, public administration, or closely related field. 

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)

Possession of a valid California State Driver's License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire.

The Department: 

The Finance Department administers the financial affairs of the City of Santa Clara, including City-owned public utilities. The department is comprised of five divisions, Administrative Services, Budget and Treasury, Accounting, Municipal Services, and Purchasing. Together these divisions carry out the mission of the Finance Department to ensure that the financial/fiscal activities of the City are performed, recorded, and presented in compliance with professional and ethical standards.  

The Position: 

Accounting Technician I

This is the entry-level class within the Accounting Technician series in the classified service.   The class is distinguished from the Accounting Technician II by the performance of more routine tasks and duties assigned to the position within the series.

Accounting Technician II

Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are frequently filled by advancement from the Accounting Technician I class, or when filled through recruitment, require additional experience.  The appointing authority will approve appointment or promotion based on the employee's demonstrated ability to perform the full range of duties for the class and meet the qualification standards for the class.  Incumbents within this class are distinguished from the Accounting Technician I by exhibiting a higher level of judgment and independence in performing the full range of duties as assigned.

The annual salary range for Accounting Technician I is $72,677.52- $92,943.24. The annual salary range for Accounting Technician II is $ 76,263.72 - $97,755.36.  This position will be filled at or near the bottom of the salary range. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Accounting Technician I

Minimum Requirements: 

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED;
• Completion of thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units from an accredited college or university including at least six (6) semester units or nine (9) quarter units, which must be in Accounting or Bookkeeping;
• One (1) year of work experience in Finance/Accounting (accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting);
• Experience with electronic spreadsheet and word processing programs; and
• Ten-key by touch.

Acceptable Substitution: 

• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one (1) year of experience for fifteen (15) semester units.  (There is no substitution allowed for the requirement for six (6) semester units or nine (9) quarter units in Accounting or Bookkeeping.)
• A Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience in Finance/Accounting.

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Experience with on-line financial and/or payroll systems;
• Experience with PeopleSoft Financial or Human Resources/Payroll Systems.

Accounting Technician II

The Department of Public Works is recruiting for a Chief of Surveys to provide the following typical duties and responsibilities which may include but are not limited to:

     * Supervises an office technical staff in the preparation of drawings, corner records, record of surveys, reviewing improvement plans and specifications, parcel maps and tract maps.

     * Reviews, approves, or examines land surveying documents (maps, plats, reports, descriptions, etc.) under supervision of the Land Surveyor.

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The San José Police Department is dedicated to providing public safety through community partnerships and 21st Century Policing practices, ensuring equity for all. The Department is committed to treating all of San Jose's diverse community members with dignity, fairness, and respect, while protecting their rights and providing equal protection under the law.The San Jose Police Department is seeking a Division Manager for the Operations Support Services Division (OSSD) of the department. OSSD is comprised of approximately 89 employees, with a budget of approximately $9.4 million dollars. The OSSD Division Manager is an essential position within the Police Department and reports directly to the Captain of Bureau of Administration (BOA).

BOA and the OSSD operate and maintain critical systems in support of public safety on a 24/7 basis. The primary purpose of OSSD is to manage and maintain local, state and federal databases in order to assist in the identification, apprehension and prosecution of criminal offenders and to ensure officer and public safety. The Division is divided into five units, which include: Vehicle Records Unit, Report Processing Unit, Warrants Unit, Services & Communications Unit, and Fingerprints.

     * The Vehicle Records Unit processes all reports and calls related to stolen, recovered, impounded, private property towed, and repossessed vehicles. The Unit enters and updates data in all local, state, and national databases. Duties include coordinating with investigative units on the release of vehicles held for investigation or as evidence of crime.

     * The Report Processing Unit processes all incoming reports and provides a variety of services to the public, officers, and other government and law enforcement agencies.

     * The Warrants Unit processes all warrants. Duties include 24/7 "hit confirmation" for officers and other agencies checking the status of warrants, sending warrant abstracts to arresting agencies, managing "due diligence" documentation, purging expired warrants, updating local, state, and national databases, and providing services to members of the public who "self-surrender". This Unit is also responsible for processing traffic citations.

     * The Services & Communications Unit provides a variety of services to officers, other agencies and the members of the public. Services include data retrieval, requests for copies of reports, background requests and Clearance Letters for Visa & Immigration purposes. The Unit also processes subpoenas for records and Public Records requests. Duties include entries and updates of firearms and property in all local, state and national databases.

     * The Fingerprint Unit processes all "non-custodial" bookings and registrants. This Unit is also responsible for managing local, state, and national databases for all criminal citations.

This position will oversee OSSD and related issues in support of the Police Department's mission. The OSSD Division Manager will work closely with the Communications and Systems Development Division Managers and must possess strong leadership, decision-making, and collaborative skills. The Division Manager will take a critical role in developing a cohesive work environment and change management for the future.

The Division Manager will set division policy related to OSSD protocol and will ensure workforce productivity through effective interpersonal skills and adherence to instituted procedures. The Division Manager will supervise shift managers, assign and prioritize staff work, evaluate the performance of mid-level managers, act as the Custodian of Record for most records retained in the department, coordinate the release of Public Records Acts requests, and monitor the evaluation process for all of the Division employees.

The Division Manager will be responsible for preparing, administering and managing the Division budget. This will include drafting purchasing documents and maintenance of contracts. This will be accomplished by negotiating contracts, scheduling vendors and requesting services. The Division Manager will be responsible for holding contractors accountable in an expeditious and efficient manner. Additionally, the Division manager will be responsible for authorizing expenditures in compliance with City protocols and that the division budget is kept within the appropriate authorizations.

The Division Manager will oversee the management of all aspects of policy related to the Division's operation. This includes management of the Division's access to local, regional, state and nationwide databases such as the Records Management System (RMS), California Law Enforcement Telecommunications (CLETS), Sheriff's Law Enforcement Telecommunications (SLETS), National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Criminal Justice Information Control (CJIC) systems.

The Division Manager will prepare and present Department reports for Senior Management and City Council. This will include preparing Annual Performance Plans and Quarterly Program Management Reports that encompass measures, accomplishments and needs of the Division.

The salary range for this classification is $131,187 to $207,658 annually. This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

The essential functions of this position are as follows:

- A history of effectively managing staff and working in an environment in which senior department managers regularly balance competing expectations from groups with diverse points of views and interests.

-The division operates 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year including holidays. As such, the Division Manager must be available via telephone at all times. This position will require the employee to work 5 days a week and may be scheduled to work evenings, nights and/or weekends.

Park Ranger I

Summary:
Under general supervision, performs skilled and unskilled maintenance duties and patrol; encourages the safe and effective promotion, protection and utilization of park resources and open-space preserves; and performs other related duties as assigned.

• Interprets and explains park policies, rules and regulations to the public; answers inquiries and complaints concerning park conditions, operations and maintenance.
• Conducts interpretive programs and outdoor activities; describes the natural features of the open- space area to visitors.
• Maintains stream crossings, hiking, biking and equestrian trails utilizing tractors and specialized trail-building equipment.
• Participates in custodial, carpentry, plumbing, maintenance and cleanup of park and open-space   structures and grounds.
• Plans, develops, coordinates and executes work programs and resource management projects.
• Assists in maintaining park water distribution and irrigation systems.
• Maintains park areas to reduce fire hazards and performs fire fuel-reduction activities, as necessary.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Administers emergency first aid to sick or injured park visitors.
• May be required to drive District or personal vehicle.
• May operate heavy motorized equipment.
• Participates during disaster or when emergency response is needed.
• Non-exempt employees may be required to work overtime.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skill, and/or ability listed below is qualifying.

Education/Experience: A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: an Associate of Science degree with work in natural resources or a closely related field, and one year of experi­ence in trail care, protection of flora and fauna, public facilities care, law enforcement and interpretation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common professional and technical journals and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from visitors. Ability to write routine reports and present information to the public.

Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumferences and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates and Licenses:

• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, certification as a limited peace officer of the State of California (P.C.832).
• Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record and current automobile insurance.
• All full-time candidates require completion of a pre-employment functional capacity examination.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: an Associate of Science degree with major work in natural resources or a closely related field; and three years of experience in the operations, maintenance, development or protection of park areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of open-space habitat, geology, native plants, natural and cultural history, safety regulations, park ordinances, and visitor management techniques.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common professional and technical journals and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from visitors or regulatory agencies. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to present information to management and the public.

Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumferences and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates and Licenses:

• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of employment with ability to maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of employment.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, certification as a limited peace officer of the State of California (P.C.832).

Hours: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Varying shifts are available including Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Under general supervision, individuals assigned to this classification assist the organization to develop and design reports, websites, social media collateral and other marketing and presentation materials. This classification focuses on the development of written and graphic representation for division or department materials. Individuals in this classification are primarily focused on enhancing the Division’s social media presence, developing all written material, performing administrative tasks, attending fairs and events to promote Recreation Services programs; and perform/ related work as required.

This position is characterized by developing new and innovative marketing collateral with limited structure or routine work. Work assignments are performed in collaboration with various divisions and levels of staff, independently, with responsibility for following through on development. Contacts are regularly made both internally and externally at all levels of the organization involving tact, discretion, good listening and customer service skills. The position requires creative ability, knowledge of how to generate graphics using The Adobe Suite, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, Word and Excel and the ability to exercise a reasonable degree of independent judgment. This classification assists with development and implementation of standards for consistency in materials, written and posted on the internet. Additionally, the position requires good written communication skills, public relations, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and abilities. The Marketing Associate receives direction from program supervisors and management staff.

Essential Job Functions

• Design and produce effective collateral for digital and print to promote programs, events and services
• Design and produce graphics materials using computer-based and traditional methods to meet organizational standards and deadlines
• Produce highly creative work within an established organizational style
• Edit electronic newsletter articles and blurbs, program descriptions for activity guide/fliers/online descriptions and social media posts
• Follow all City standards related to branding and writing (Associated Press style), or as otherwise directed, and meet deadlines

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is required to work on the Community Center campus and may not work from home. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination when using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, push and pull files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required. Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem- solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.  The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community.

The Position

As a member of the HSD assigned to the AFS, the Senior Program Coordinator will organize, coordinate, and implement community wellness programs for older adults. The Community Programs include health promotion activities such as health screenings, wellness classes, and educational activities. The position works within a team that includes volunteers, health promoters, nurses, social workers and mental health workers. The position facilitates community awareness and partnerships, with individuals and agencies, to promote an age-friendly environment.

About the Position:  The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, which provides the opportunity to learn and perform some duties of a ranger under the guidance of experienced ranger staff. Ranger Aides provide visitor information and assistance, travelling by non-emergency Midpen vehicles and on foot throughout an assigned geographical region. Ranger Aides perform a variety of customer service duties such as educating and informing the public about Midpen land use regulations, public relations and provide general information services, but do not have law enforcement authority.  Ranger Aides will assist with routine maintenance work on Midpen land and facilities and may respond to assist with emergency calls. Schedules:  This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work full-time (40 hours during the work week); however, school schedules may be accommodated.  Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is required, with two consistent days off each week (either Mondays/Tuesdays off OR Thursdays/Fridays off).  Incumbents will work an 8-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break). Daily start and end times will be the same for most workdays, typically scheduled within the range of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Must be willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended shifts and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to challenging situations and upset individuals. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 7 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits

Working Conditions: Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform related emergency services and maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. Once trained, Ranger Aides may work alone for parts or all of their shifts. Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits.

The City of Dixon is accepting applications to fill one (1) full-time position of Transit Driver/Dispatcher and to establish an eligibility list for future use.  

This position drives a Readi-Ride General Public Paratransit Vehicle (GPPV) on a demand responsive curb-to-curb transit system and assist patrons boarding and leaving the bus, especially the elderly, disabled, and school age children. May also assist in collecting information relating to the operation of the system; receive ride requests and organize the vehicle pick-ups and drop-offs; and, will work closely with the drivers and Transit Supervisor to ensure coordinated efforts.
