THE POSITION:
This extra-help, non-benefited position provides excellent customer service while performing a variety of professional all ages library services, including reference, reader’s advisory, collection development, event planning, outreach, digital literacy training for the public, and performs related work as assigned as replacement for regular staff who are on vacation or ill. TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to:

• Helps to maintain social media connectivity to the library public.
• Works collaboratively with staff, the community and special interest groups.
• The Librarian II performs all of these tasks but at a more difficult, higher level. May serve as Person-in-Charge when Branch Manager is absent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education and Experience: Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), Master of Library Science (MLS), or Master of Science in Library Science (MSLS) degree from an accredited college or university. The Librarian II requires two years of appropriate professional experience working as a professional librarian, preferably in a public library. Must have a valid California driver’s license. Spanish bilingual skills are preferred.
 
 SALARY RANGES:            Librarian I -   $36.09/hour to $37.92/hour
                                             Librarian II - $37.90/hour to $39.82hour

Summary:

The responsibilities assigned to the Librarian II will be primarily oriented towards services to children and young adults, including providing direct support to children attending the schools of the Sausalito Marin City School District and their teachers.

The incumbent will also perform a variety of professional librarian duties, such as reference services, collection development and management, and cataloging. The San Rafael Public Library is accepting applications for Substitute Librarians and Substitute Library Assistants to work in our San Rafael Public Libraries, including Downtown (1100 E Street), Pickleweed (50 Canal Street), and Northgate (5800 Northgate Drive, Ste. 083).  We are looking for people who are available on call, weekends, or other limited shifts.  This is a great opportunity for those interested in working at both a downtown and neighborhood branch libraries, as well as those excited by providing library services to a diverse community.  These are temporary positions, limited to 1,000 hours worked within a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30) and receive no City benefits.

Substitute Librarians perform professional-level library public service work, including answering reference questions, providing readers’ advisory, providing technical assistance, and presenting programs (as needed) for both adult and youth services.

Substitute Library Assistants perform circulation tasks such as checking materials in and out, and work at the public service desk for both adult and youth services, assisting patrons with basic requests including answering simple questions, creating new patron accounts, and referring patrons to other staff for more complex questions. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Substitute Librarians:

• Knowledge of Library Services and reference materials; readers advisory; professional practices and techniques of library science; and on-line library systems and information resources.
• Masters in library science issued by a college or university accredited by the American Library Association is preferred.
• Ability to work and effectively communicate with a diverse range of patrons.
• Bilingual in Spanish desired.

Substitute Library Assistants:

• Knowledge of basic office practices and procedures, including the operation of standard office equipment; alphabetical, numerical, and topical filing systems; material organization and structure of libraries; including categories of materials and general arrangement; library technical services terminology and equipment including on-line databases.
• Experience working in public libraries preferred.

The City of American Canyon Parks & Recreation Department invites energetic, creative and responsible individuals to apply for the position of Program Coordinator. Program Coordinators are part-time, temporary staff members who work under Recreation Coordinators to oversee and implement a wide range of recreation programming. Program Coordinators may be asked to provide recreation leadership, supervision, and assistance in various recreation programs, including day camp, youth and adult sports, special events and outdoor spaces.

This position is well-suited for applicants with experience as a Recreation Leader or Youth Leader, can work independently, and effectively lead staff members.

Being a Program Coordinator can include working shifts that are scheduled during early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays all year around.  This is a position that is considered temporary/part-time and employees are limited to no more than 980 hours per fiscal year.

Under general supervision, plans, organizes, coordinates, develops, implements, promotes and evaluates assigned program areas and provides lead direction to lower-level staff and volunteers. 

Examples of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Plan, organize, implement, and lead assigned program areas in one or more City departments.

The Construction Secretary will assist the Chief of Construction, Construction Services Manager and the Construction Project Analyst with administrative tasks within the division.   

This position requires a highly motivated, responsible, organized, problem-solver and self-starter individual who can handle an array of tasks, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, has good judgement, and works independently or as part of a team. Supervision

This position reports to the Chief of Construction. Assorted tasks may be supervised by the Construction Services Manager and the Construction Project Analyst.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, frequently communicate and exchange information, review handwritten, electronic and facsimile documents, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The employee must occasionally move items weighing up to 20 pounds inside the office.

Required Hours and Location

Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week with some scheduling flexibility. Occasional overtime work on evenings or weekends upon prior approval by supervisor. The position will work out of the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens but may be required to travel to various other locations. Offices at the River Center are spread among multiple buildings and floors. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED certificate. A.A. degree preferred.
• Two (2) years performing administrative duties.
• Experience in construction field preferred.   

Training and Certification

• Must have a valid California driver’s license in good standing with a satisfactory driving record at the time of hire.
• Basic First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to complete within 6 months).

Knowledge of: 

• Proficiency in Windows-based programs including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Proficiency in grammar, spelling and basic mathematics. 
• Knowledge of operating standard office equipment. 
• Office practices and procedures.
• Bilingual skills in English and another locally common language, such as Spanish, is desired.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Police Department is seeking to fill the full-time exempt position of Senior Management Analyst II (Advanced Professional Temp). This is a three (3) year fixed-term position, with the potential to be extended dependent on available funding and job performance.  This is an “at will” position with benefits available.  Employment may be terminated with or without cause or notice, at any time by the City of San Rafael. 

 The Senior Management Analyst (Advanced Professional Temp) will support the work of the newly formed Police Advisory and Accountability Committee (PAAC).  

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Manages community concerns of the PAAC.
• Supports the public meeting process including coordinating agenda items for public meetings, memorializing meeting minutes and any actions taken by the PAAC.
• Supports the PAAC Chair in the facilitation of the meeting process for this new committee. 
• Analyze, research, and prepare reports based on data analysis.
• Assess and examine public safety best practices.
• Provides administrative support between meetings and in preparation for public meetings.
• Performs related duties as required.

To be eligible for this position, you must have knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of local government and public administration.
• Methods of research, program analysis, and report preparation.
• State legislative procedures.
• Communication strategies.
• Public relations and relationship building.
• Computer skills including graphics software.
• Parliamentary procedures and knowledge of the Brown Act is preferred.

• A master’s degree in public administration, public policy, or business administration is highly desirable.

Senior Management Analyst II/Advanced Professional Temp: (in addition to the requirements for the Senior Management Analyst I, this level requires):

• Five years or more of experience performing increasingly complex, professional analytical work with a high degree of autonomy.
