About Maple Street Correctional Center
Designed to create a better environment for incarcerated individuals and staff and to help reduce recidivism, the facility was the first correctional center built as part of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s initiative to shift nonviolent, nonsexual offenders from overcrowded state prisons to county-run facilities. The center accommodates female and lower-risk male incarcerated individuals and is composed of two separate but interconnected buildings with a central administration area.

The facility’s architecture emphasizes safety, rehabilitation, and natural light. Instead of placing cells along the exterior walls as in most jails, the design features a curved glass façade with dayrooms located along windowed areas that open to individual living units. This layout improves supervision while allowing daylight to enter the building, helping the white-painted cells feel more open and spacious.

Each floor has a central core station supporting four housing units. These areas include classrooms, a computer lab, and multipurpose rooms to support educational and rehabilitative programming. Additional design elements include natural ventilation, a large rooftop recreation yard, artwork depicting scenes from nature, and a calming natural color palette.

An attached 88-bed transitional housing facility supports alternative sentencing programs such as day reporting, weekend programs, and other supervised custody arrangements, helping prepare individuals for reentry into the community.

Step 2:  Written Examination: Applicants for the Sheriff’s Correctional Officer have three options for meeting the written examination requirement:

POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB): This exam must be completed in less than 2.5 hours, be passed with a minimum T-Score of 46 and be dated within twelve (12) months of the date of application. The areas covered by the test include spelling, vocabulary, clarity, reading and CLOZE (using contextual clues to complete a passage that contains missing words). OR

2. Possession of a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Certificate or possession of an Adult Corrections Officer Core completion certificate from a certified Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) academy from the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC).

OR

3. Possession of an associate's degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university.

AND

Step 3:  Physical Agility Examination – Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB): This exam must be passed with a minimum score of 320 and be dated within twelve (12) months of the date of application. This test mirrors the California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) test and is advertised as such on The Academy's website. Applicants can submit scores from either the WSTB or the Correctional Officer test through The Academy. The Academy offers optional practice sessions. To schedule for the exam, visit the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium's website at: The Academy - Pre-Employment Testing and Training.

The events for the Correctional Officer test include:

• 99-yard obstacle course in under 23 seconds
• 165-pound body drag for 32-feet in under 7 seconds
• 165-pound body lift for 60 seconds
• 500-yard run in under 2 minutes
• 1.5-mile run in 15 minutes or less

IMPORTANT: When you report for the test, inform The Academy that you are applying to be a Correctional Officer with San Mateo County. San Mateo County Correctional Officer applicants will not be required to participate in climbing the 6-foot chain link fence or 6-foot solid wall portion of the WSTB test.

NOTE: PELLETB test and WSTB results from other training organizations or law enforcement agencies will be accepted so long as they meet California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements.

 

 

Examples Of Duties

Sheriff's Correctional Officer duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Receive, search, book, fingerprint, and guard inmates in the correctional facilities.  
• Take custody of inmates’ property.  
• Maintain records of bookings, releases, transfers, money and other functions of the correctional facilities.
• Prepare inmates for court and for release.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

If designated as Correctional Deputy, also perform the following:

• Transport and provide security for inmates at the hospital.
• Transport inmates between custodial facilities.
• Provide security for inmates at court.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

Education: 

• A high school graduate or passing the General Education Development (GED) test or other high school equivalency test approved by CDE, or completion of at least 30 college units from an accredited or approved institution to apply.

Skill/Ability to:

• Exercise sound judgment and discretion in stressful and highly emotional situations.
• Work collaboratively with others to solve problems. 
• Read and comprehend legal documents, law enforcement manuals, and court decisions.
• Follow instructions.
• Function effectively under stress.

The San Rafael Public Library is hiring Teen Interns (2 Positions Available) for the Summer Lunch at the Library Program.  This important initiative helps ensure that youth in the City of San Rafael have access to free, healthy lunches throughout the summer.  As a Lunch at the Library Intern, you will support a variety of program activities while working under the direction of library staff, gaining valuable experience and contributing to your community.  All City of San Rafael teens age 16-18 are encouraged to apply.  NO PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The Teen Intern is an energetic and dependable individual who enjoys engaging with diverse children an families (ages 0-12) and teens (ages 12-18).  The Teen Intern will arrive on time with a positive attitude, is able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, communicate well with library staff and community members, and is open to learning new skills.  They are willing to begin and end each workday at the library, participate in off-site outreach, assist in preparing and breaking down materials for each shift, and help track program statistics.  Above all, they foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, ensuring all community members feel accepted at the library.

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Attend orientations and trainings.
• Set up pop-up outreach site, track book distribution, and lead interactive off-site program.
• Promote the library's Summer Reading Challenge.
• Lead activities with children and parents.
• Lunch at the Library is a joint partnership between the library and a federally funded program.  Teen interns will be expected to learn and adhere to all Federal guidelines, as well as San Rafael Public Library policies and procedures.

• Required Schedule:  Monday thru Friday - 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• The total time commitment is 10 hours of required training and 60 hours of regularly scheduled shifts over 7 weeks.

We are currently looking for a Clinical Therapist I or II to work on our MHSSA Grant Team within Tri-City's Child & Family Clinic. A Clinical Therapist I/II provides behavioral health clinical intervention and recovery services to assigned clients and their families; develops treatment plans and performs individual, group, and family psychotherapeutic counseling, routine and emergency assessment, crisis intervention, and related treatment services; manages an assigned caseload of adults, juveniles, and/or children; provides consultation to other staff, programs, and agencies related to treatment needs and plans; and 
performs related duties as assigned. 

The Clinical Therapist I/II position will report to a Clinical Supervisor II and will work on a multidisciplinary team consisting of other Clinical Therapists and Behavioral Health Specialists in partnership with the school and families.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

•  Provides individual, group, and family interventions, rehabilitation, and treatment services including counseling, therapy, case management, and referral and linkage to community services to a variety of clients including high acuity clients. 

 

•  Within scope of authority, assesses, diagnoses, and treats a variety of clients with mental health disorders; collaborates with clients and creates individualized treatments plans according to client’s needs and circumstances. 

 

• Initiates and conducts individual, group, and family counseling and biopsychosocial therapy sessions utilizing a variety of techniques and modalities; provides case management services in the office and in the field. 

 

•  Performs routine and emergency intake evaluations according to Authority procedure; completes appropriate forms and documents relating to the intake process; and prepares medical and demographic case history for use in diagnosis.

 

• Assists clients and family members in understanding behavioral health diagnosis, contributing factors/causes, effects, prognosis, rehabilitation, and treatment. 

 

•  Works with clients to address stressors and barriers to treatment and/or social functioning; identifies and focuses on client strengths and personal resources to effectively engage and treat client. 

 

•  Performs crisis intervention for clients and walk-in non-clients; evaluates individuals to identify level of stable behavior; provides support and assistance in problem resolution; coordinates or arranges for the provision of appropriate care services; and places holds as necessary within scope of authority. 

 

• Attends and participates in a variety of meetings, staff trainings, utilization and peer review activities, clinical supervision and case consultation, and public information and education functions.

 

•  As a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, provides critical clinical input related to client diagnosis and recommended treatment; presents findings and clinical observations; and makes recommendations for additional services. 

 

• Maintains and submits accurate, detailed, and thorough documentation, case records, and notes of all billable and non-billable activities and services related to client care; completes necessary documentation for billing purposes.

Under direction and management of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, the 9-1-1 Center provides the full array of public safety communication services for Police/Fire and EMS.

THE POSITION
Under the supervision of a shift lead, the Public Safety Dispatcher processes emergency and non-emergency calls for service; dispatches police, fire, medical, and other emergency equipment, by telephone or radio, utilizing complex technical aids, such as Computer Aided Dispatch systems (CAD); and performs other related duties as assigned.
 
The ideal candidate will possess a POST Basic Certificate, EMD Certificate, EFD Certificate, and knowledge in all disciplines of Police/Fire and EMS dispatching and one year as a Public Safety Dispatcher with a demonstrated background in the operation of modern Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.  Note:  The POST Basic Certificate is required at time of application. Without the POST Basic Certificate at time of application the candidate will not be considered.  
 
Work Schedule: Public Safety Dispatchers work a 48 hours on/96 hours off schedule.

Monitors and maintains status of public safety personnel and equipment; analyzes situations accurately and takes effective action to help ensure officer and firefighter safety; handle the reassignment of fire equipment to ensure adequate district-wide fire protection.

Provides operational support for police, fire, and medical operations; facilitates outside agency assistance and mutual aid requests; as requested, enters, updates, and retrieves information from teletype networks relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles; handles tow requests and other information.

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships, engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving, and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.

The Position

The Quality Assurance Senior Program Coordinator oversees quality assurance activities of the behavioral health programs (Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment) for the Youth and Family Services Division and other divisions providing behavioral health services. The incumbent will perform routine audits of clinical client records, tabulation and reporting of audit results to individual programs, to ensure the programs comply with State Medi-Cal standards. This position is a core member driving the Human Services Department’s quality assurance and improvement processes in partnership with the department’s clinical and billing management team.

Examples of Job Duties

• Oversee clinical quality improvement processes and behavioral health record review.
• Develop internal audit processes to ensure compliance with state mental health and drug Medi-Cal documentation and timeliness requirements are met.
• Represent department at all county-based QA meetings/events and state conferences for larger system changes such as California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) services.
• Develop working relationships with county QA to provide continual improvements to City of Fremont work-flow and compliance issues.
