Tri-City Mental Health Authority is looking for a Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) who will provide a variety of rehabilitative support services to clients. This position will be a part of a 3 year- federally funded MHSSA Grant Team set to end in December 2026. Candidates must be able to facilitate the following: behavior modification, skill building, and self-care and safety in individual and/or group settings; demonstrates and coaches clients to promote and reinforce the use of effective coping strategies and techniques based on individual needs and treatment plans; performs outreach and provides linkages and referrals to a variety of behavioral health, community, and social services, resources, and systems of care; encourages full client engagement in services to promote wellness and recovery; and performs related duties as assigned. The BHS will report to Clinical Supervisor I.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Provides individual, group, family, and collateral rehabilitative support services to facilitate behavior modification including skill building, needs assessment, self-care/safety, and coping strategies and techniques; may provide case management services in the office and in the field.

 

• Develops, monitors, and evaluates client rehabilitative and case management goals and increases/decreases in targeted behavior according to client needs; monitors goal progress/regression.

 

• Provides linkages, resources, and referrals to address basic needs and other barriers to wellness and recovery including food, housing, clothing, transportation, and other financial resources.

 

• Encourages and supports clients to fully engage in services; provides outreach and assists clients in addressing and overcoming barriers to treatment.

 

• Plans and facilitates and/or co-facilitates group sessions for clients and community members focused on skill building; tracks client attendance and follows-up with individual clients, as necessary.

 

• Provides advocacy for clients to ensure inclusion in all aspects of the community including socialization, employment, education, and housing to meet client needs.

 

•  Participates as a member of multidisciplinary treatment teams; addresses client goals, barriers, progress, and other relevant information to enhance treatment services; assists and supports clients in maintaining cooperative and effective relationships with treatment teams.

 

• Attends and participates in a variety of meetings, trainings, utilization and peer review activities, and other functions involving supervision, case consultation and public information and education.

 

• Maintains accurate, detailed, and thorough documentation, case records, and notes of all billable and non-billable activities and services related to client care; completes necessary documentation for billing purposes.

 

•  Maintains client confidentiality in compliance with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) regulations.

 

•  Performs crisis intervention counseling within scope; assists professional staff in coordinating or arranging for the provision of appropriate care services.

 

• Performs a variety of office administrative and clerical duties in support of assigned program/function, as necessary.

 

•  Provides transportation to clients as necessary or as assigned.

 

• Observes and complies with all Authority and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.

The Deputy Probation Officer I/II/III position in the Probation Department will investigate cases of juvenile delinquency or dependency and adult applicants for probation; supervise and counsel juveniles and adults on probation; prepares reports and recommendations for court. Provides professional casework services to adult and juvenile offenders involving the referral, supervision and rehabilitation of juveniles and adults on probation; and provides advocacy and related services to victims of crimes. The Deputy Probation Officer III is the advanced journey level position in the class. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepares and presents reports and recommendations regarding juveniles and adults for the Superior Court.
• Investigates violations of the law by juveniles and adults, and prepares a variety of reports to the court on individuals under the jurisdiction of the court.
• Analyzes and uses information gathered by interviewing the accused and others involved in a case to assess client needs; develops a supervision plan designed to achieve desired behavioral changes; prepares progress reports.
• Arrests juvenile/adult probationers, or makes arrangements through law enforcement agencies for the arrest of juvenile/adult probationers who violate the law or terms of probation; physically restrains juvenile/adult probationers when necessary.
• Makes financial arrangements for the collection and distribution of fines, restitution and other payments.

The City of Burlingame is looking for an On-Call Librarian I/II to join our team!  There are currently openings in the Children's Services and Adult Services departments.  Candidates may use the supplemental questionnaire to indicate if they would like to be considered for Children's Services, Adult Services (Reference) or both.  Hours and shifts will vary depending on department staffing needs.

The Librarian I classification is an entry-level position; the Library II classification is the experienced, journey-level position requiring a higher level of experience and training. The Librarian I/II can be filled at either level depending upon qualifications and experience.

 

For Children's Services:

This position includes working nights and weekends, as needed.  Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Providing reference and reader’s advisory to children, teens, and parents at the Children's Desk, which requires extensive knowledge of children's literature.
• Planning and conducting programs for children including story telling, book talks, and films to encourage reading, viewing and listening and use of library materials and facilities.
• Compiling lists of materials of interest to children.
• Organizing and conducting class visits for preschool and elementary age children to encourage reading and use of library materials and facilities.
• Planning and preparing exhibits, book lists and displays using creative marketing techniques to promote the library’s collections and services.

For Adult Services:

This position includes working nights and weekends, as needed.  Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Serving at an information desk; research and respond to reference questions by phone, in person, or electronically.
• Assisting patrons in use of library collections through reference interviews, database, and web searches, reader’s advisory, and instruction in the use of the online catalog, computer software, and other technology that is used in the library.
• Maintaining current knowledge of materials, resources at BPL and throughout Peninsula Library System and refer patrons as required. 
• Promoting library services to generate increased usage.
• Responding to patron complaints and problems.
• Performing other related duties as assigned. 

 

Education and Experience
Education: A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program required.

Experience: At least one year professional experience working in a library setting is preferred.  Knowledge of the Peninsula Library System and Sierra ILS  is desirable. Successful public contact experience in a library setting; knowledge of automated systems; basic library reference materials including on-line databases and the Internet; reference interview and research methods; and knowledge of library systems.

Physical, Mental and Environmental Working Conditions: Ability to stoop, bend and crouch to retrieve materials and books; lift and/or move books or other materials weighing up to 50-pounds; push/pull carts up to 150 pounds; sit, stand and walk for long periods of time; talk and hear well enough to communicate with patrons; use hands to finger, handle, or fell objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands or arms.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Circulation Manager leads the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the Library’s Circulation Services. As a member of the Library’s management team, this role is instrumental in maintaining efficient, patron-centered service. Key responsibilities include overseeing circulation operations at the Serramonte Main Library: supervising and supporting staff, managing schedules, and ensuring a high standard of customer service. The Circulation Manager also collaborates with managers across all four Daly City library locations, contributes to committee work, supports program planning and implementation related to circulation services, and completes special projects as assigned.

DEFINITION

Under the general supervision of a Librarian II, Librarian III or Library Services Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating a library program area such as Circulation, Programming, Outreach and Marketing, or Technology Support and Training.  This is the highest level of the Library Assistant series and is distinguished from the next lower class by the higher level of responsibility, including coordinating services system-wide and training and supervising staff.

Definition

To attend a Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) approved Police Basic Recruit Academy and successfully complete the academic and physical training required for appointment to the classification of Police Officer.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is a trainee level classification which provides transition into the position of Police Officer. Police Officer Trainees are hired into this civilian position for the period prior and during the time they are assigned to a POST certified police academy. Tri-City is looking for individuals to serve as a Psychiatric Technician I/II (Licensed) on a full-time basis for the MCCP. The MCCP Psychiatric Technician will be part of a team that provides crisis intervention and stabilization, linkage and referral, consultation, and education within the scope of practice. The MCCP Psychiatric Technician will report to the Mobile Crisis Care Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Program Manager.

Tri-City’s MCCP operates 24/7 to provide crucial support in mobile crises. As such, the schedule will involve a 3/12 shift pattern, consisting of three twelve-hour days per workweek and one alternating eight-hour day every other week. Shifts may include evenings, weekends, daytime hours, and holidays.

The specific shift and schedule will be determined by the supervisor; however, the first one to two months of training will follow a 5-day-per-week, 40-hour-per-week schedule

Examples of shifts are included below:

• Day Shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM, or 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
• Night Shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 7:00 PM - 3:00 AM, 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM, or 8:00 PM - 4:00 AM

Shift Rotation

• Please note that shifts may be rotated every six months to ensure a fair distribution of day and night shifts across the team. This rotation allows team members to gain experience in various shifts and provides opportunities for a balanced work schedule over time.

Availability

• As our Mobile Crisis Care team provides critical support during community crises, it’s essential that members can respond promptly. To ensure timely response, team members must reside within a 30-minute commute to the Authority in heavy traffic. If selected, candidates who do not currently meet this requirement will be expected to relocate within four weeks of accepting the position.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities, including, but are not limited to, the following:

Positions at the Psychiatric Technician I level may perform some of these duties and responsibilities in a learning capacity.

• Under the direction of clinical staff, provides medication management services to a caseload of clients in the office and in the field; ensures the proper acquisition and administration of medication.
• Provides education and training to clients, their families, and/or staff on the proper care and use of medications, including symptoms of, reactions to, or side effects of, specific medications; informs clients of the impact of abuse and/or misuse of medications.

About Maple Street Correctional Center
Designed to create a better environment for incarcerated individuals and staff and to help reduce recidivism, the facility was the first correctional center built as part of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s initiative to shift nonviolent, nonsexual offenders from overcrowded state prisons to county-run facilities. The center accommodates female and lower-risk male incarcerated individuals and is composed of two separate but interconnected buildings with a central administration area.

The facility’s architecture emphasizes safety, rehabilitation, and natural light. Instead of placing cells along the exterior walls as in most jails, the design features a curved glass façade with dayrooms located along windowed areas that open to individual living units. This layout improves supervision while allowing daylight to enter the building, helping the white-painted cells feel more open and spacious.

Each floor has a central core station supporting four housing units. These areas include classrooms, a computer lab, and multipurpose rooms to support educational and rehabilitative programming. Additional design elements include natural ventilation, a large rooftop recreation yard, artwork depicting scenes from nature, and a calming natural color palette.

An attached 88-bed transitional housing facility supports alternative sentencing programs such as day reporting, weekend programs, and other supervised custody arrangements, helping prepare individuals for reentry into the community.

IMPORTANT PRE-APPLICATION EXAM INFORMATION

The required tests for Sheriff’s Correctional Officer applicants must be completed before submitting an on-line application. The following describes the required application materials:

Step 1:  Application Submission: All applicants are required to submit an online application to be considered. Responses to the supplemental questions and copies of required test scores must be submitted in addition to the regular employment application form. Applications submitted without the required attachments will be rejected.

Step 2:  Written Examination: Applicants for the Sheriff’s Correctional Officer have three options for meeting the written examination requirement:

1. POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB): This exam must be completed in less than 2.5 hours, be passed with a minimum T-Score of 46 and be dated within twelve (12) months of the date of application. The areas covered by the test include spelling, vocabulary, clarity, reading and CLOZE (using contextual clues to complete a passage that contains missing words). OR

2. Possession of a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Certificate or possession of an Adult Corrections Officer Core completion certificate from a certified Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) academy from the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC).

OR

3. Possession of an associate's degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university.

AND

Step 3:  Physical Agility Examination – Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB): This exam must be passed with a minimum score of 320 and be dated within twelve (12) months of the date of application. This test mirrors the California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) test and is advertised as such on The Academy's website. Applicants can submit scores from either the WSTB or the Correctional Officer test through The Academy. The events for the Correctional Officer test include:

• 99-yard obstacle course in under 23 seconds
• 165-pound body drag for 32-feet in under 7 seconds
• 165-pound body lift for 60 seconds
• 500-yard run in under 2 minutes
• 1.5-mile run in 15 minutes or less

IMPORTANT: When you report for the test, inform The Academy that you are applying to be a Correctional Officer with San Mateo County. San Mateo County Correctional Officer applicants will not be required to participate in climbing the 6-foot chain link fence or 6-foot solid wall portion of the WSTB test.

NOTE: PELLETB test and WSTB results from other training organizations or law enforcement agencies will be accepted so long as they meet California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements.

 

 

Examples Of Duties

Sheriff's Correctional Officer duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Receive, search, book, fingerprint, and guard inmates in the correctional facilities.  
• Take custody of inmates’ property.  
• Maintain records of bookings, releases, transfers, money and other functions of the correctional facilities.
• Prepare inmates for court and for release.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

If designated as Correctional Deputy, also perform the following:

• Transport and provide security for inmates at the hospital.
• Transport inmates between custodial facilities.
• Provide security for inmates at court.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

Education: 

• A high school graduate or passing the General Education Development (GED) test or other high school equivalency test approved by CDE, or completion of at least 30 college units from an accredited or approved institution to apply.

Skill/Ability to:

• Exercise sound judgment and discretion in stressful and highly emotional situations.
• Work collaboratively with others to solve problems. 
• Read and comprehend legal documents, law enforcement manuals, and court decisions.
• Follow instructions.
• Function effectively under stress.
• Demonstrate leadership and control in volatile, rapidly changing environments.  
• Maintain impartiality, transparency and make accurate observations. 
• Perform repeated strenuous physical exertion.
• Write complete and accurate reports and correspondence.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with all types of people both orally and in writing.
• Lead by personal example by interacting professionally and compassionately with community members.
• Meet State of California Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) medical and physical standards for law enforcement personnel.

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a Class C California driver license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

• Refrain from using tobacco products at any time, for employees hired by the County after October 1, 2004.

 

Application/Examination

The examination/selection process will consist of the steps detailed in order below.

Step 2:  Written/ Physical Agility Examination: Applicants for the Sheriff’s Correctional Officer have three options for meeting the written examination requirement – (1) submittal of a valid and passing T-Score on the POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) exam dated within the last 12 months prior to the date of application OR (2) possession of a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation certification (CDCR) or possession of an Adult Corrections Officer Core completion certificate from a certified Standard and Training for Corrections (STC) academy from the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) OR (3) possession of an associate’s degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university AND submittal of a valid and passing Physical Agility Test WSTB score dated within the last 12 months prior to the date of application.

 

Step 3:  Application Appraisal (weighted: 100%): Applicants who meet the qualifications for the position will be placed on the eligible list for a period of six months.

 

Oral Interview: After placement on the eligible list, qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a panel interview with the Sheriff’s Office Professional Standards Bureau.
