The Department:

The Library Department is organized into seven divisions: Administration, Adult Services, Branch Services, Customer Services, Facilities, Technical and Technology Services and Youth Services. Santa Clara City Library is in the process of finalizing and implementing its new Strategic Plan that will support the direction of future library services.

The Position:

This is the entry-level class within the literacy series responsible for helping raise community awareness of the library’s adult and family literacy services. The Literacy Advocate does community outreach, facilitates information meetings for new learners and volunteers and supports the involvement of adult learners in the Read Santa Clara program, connecting them to helpful library and community resources.  Read Santa Clara is the adult and family literacy program of the Santa Clara City Library. 

The position being filled is a 0.5 FTE position. Benefits for this position will be prorated to a half-time position. The annual salary range for this position is $34,966.38 - $44,692.20, this is a prorated amount. This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative technology leader to serve as its first Deputy Chief Technology Officer (Deputy CTO). This position will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in building, operating, and maturing the City’s newly established Information Technology (IT) Department. 

The Deputy CTO will serve as a key partner to the CTO, helping translate the City’s Information Technology Strategic Plan (ITSP) into effective, day-to-day operations and successful project execution. The Town of Truckee is hiring an Information Technology Technician to help keep Town services reliable, secure, and responsive for staff and the community. This is an entry-level, hands-on role with training and mentorship built in. You will provide first-level technical support, deploy and maintain devices, and help improve the end-user experience across the organization. This position supports the Police Department and emergency services directly. Your work helps keep mission-critical devices and tools available, stable, and ready.

What You’ll Do
You will troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues for Town staff, install and configure desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals, and provide clear guidance so users can stay productive. You will support documentation, ticket follow-through, and consistent setups that reduce repeat issues. You will also play a direct role in the Town’s device planning and lifecycle management. ABOUT THE POSITION

The Library Information Technology Technician is distinguished from the Information Technology Analyst series in that the latter supports the following: computer systems for various departments’ citywide, data center operations, complex networking equipment, telephony and WAN technologies.  This class is further distinguished from the Library Systems Coordinator class in the latter is responsible for overall coordination of activities related to the library’s information system.

Some assignments may require specialized systems experience such as HTML, CSS, Javascript and XML, PHP, and structured query language (SQL).

- A technology certificate from an accredited college or trade school in information technology, computer applications, web technologies, computer information systems, application development database design, programming, technology project management, or related field and five years of experience in private-sector or public-sector positions in information technology, including systems analysis work and development, system integration, or project management.
 

- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in computer science or a related field, and two years of progressively responsible experience comparable to that of an Information Technology Analyst I in the City of Mountain View. Some assignments may require specialized systems experience such as HTML, CSS, Javascript and XML, PHP, and structured query language (SQL).

Highly Desirable:  

• Possession of Advanced Microsoft, VMWare Certified Professional (VSP), CCNP and/or LINUX certifications.

Work Schedule and Salary: 

• Flexibility regarding work schedule is necessary. Incumbents will need to be willing to work a schedule that includes part of the weekend and flexible hours. 
• The control point for this position is $152,958. The full range for this position is $122,367 - $183,550 and the full range is posted to comply with California law. That said, successful candidates can realistically expect a starting offer between $122,367 and $144,000, depending on qualifications. No matter where the starting offer falls, employees will have the opportunity to get annual merit increases for stellar performance.

The City of Menlo Park seeks per diem librarians to contribute to operations activities, projects and programs in the Library and Community Services Department. Per diem librarians may support a combination of the activities below depending on the needs--location of service may vary. This is an outstanding opportunity to gain experience and grow with a great team of people in a dynamic and interesting work environment.

Schedules vary based on the needs of the library system. Both Menlo Park Library locations are open on Saturdays and Sundays, and until 8pm three nights per week. Regular availability for one weekend day and one evening will be expected. Selected candidates from this applicant pool may be assigned to work at either library location. Per diem librarian positions are scheduled for less than 20 hours per week and may not exceed 980 hours within a twelve (12) month period.

Job Duties/Functions

• On a continuous basis, sits at a desk and/or stands at counter for long periods of time. Intermittently bends, twists, kneels or squats while shelving books, opening boxes, or moving equipment; twists and reaches office equipment; writes and uses keyboard to communicate and enters/retrieves data; runs errands; lifts or carries weight of up to 50 pounds. Pushes loaded book carts.
• Assists users in the use of computers and/or other electronic devices
• May provide or support story time sessions (children or adult,) or the willingness to learn how to provide the service
• May host/support/coordinate programs (children, teen, adult,); willingness to learn how to provide that service
• Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Provide assistance to and advise patrons of all age groups in the effective use of the Library’s collection, facilities and services; demonstrate the use of library resources, tools, equipment, and electronic reference sources; assist with digital downloads and respond to difficult or technical questions as they relate to the use of electronic resources. Compile subject bibliographies
• Develop an assigned area of the Library collection; review and analyze collection use; recommend books and materials for purchase based on patron needs and according to the variety of patron ages, abilities, education, interests, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
