The Controller's Office is currently seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Payroll Personnel Coordinator IV - Confidential.

The mission of the Controller's Office is to promote the County's operational effectiveness and ensure its financial transparency and integrity by providing quality accounting, audit, and financial reporting services.

The Controller's Office maintains the County’s financial systems and records, and prepares independently audited, award-winning annual financial reports that disclose the financial condition of the County to the public. We are staffed with 51 full-time accounting, audit, and information systems professionals. The office also calculates annual property tax bill amounts, distribute taxes collected to local government agencies, performs internal audits of County’s operations, and provides payroll services for the County's workforce.

Under general supervision, provides technical and specialized payroll and/or personnel-related support to a large and complex County department and/or division(s) or perform payroll and/or personnel-related functions at a Countywide level with responsibilities for reviewing, correcting and instructing the work of other Coordinators; coordinate human resources, payroll and/or timekeeping processes; maintain personnel-related records; provide information to management and employees regarding payroll and personnel-related matters; and perform related work as required.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Payroll/Personnel Coordinator IV is the lead or specialist level class in the Payroll/Personnel Coordinator series. This level is distinguished from the Payroll/Personnel Coordinator III in that the former is assigned to larger County departments with 24/7 operations, various locations, programs, and shifts or in central Human Resources or Controller's Office. At this level, work requires the analysis of unusual circumstances, understanding and proper application of complex and multiple labor contract provisions and assessing a variety of approaches to finding solutions. Actions to be taken or responses to be made differ in such things as the source of information, the kind of transaction or scenario, the type of employee and his/her eligibility for labor contract provisions. Positions at central HR and Controller's Office provide lead, guidance, and instructions to other departmental Coordinators.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience in Human Recourses and the Payroll System (Workday) and timekeeping system (Infor Workforce Management aka ATKS).

Education and Experience:

THE POSITION

The current full-time opening is a professional level position requiring expertise in administrative, supervisory, and accounting functions and is under the direction of the Administrative Services Director.  The Accounting Manager oversees daily financial and accounting activities, supervises accounting staff; performs difficult and complex statistical analyses; assists with annual budget preparation; manages the annual financial audit; develops and distributes internal financial reports; plans and executes all risk management functions; and performs advanced professional, analytical, and administrative work. 

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Plan, organize and direct Finance division activities including overseeing accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, and cash receipt activities
• Direct, oversee and participate in the development of the financial division work plan; assign work activities, projects, and programs; monitor workflow; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures

The Organization

The City of Pacifica is a General Law City incorporated in 1957 and operates under the Council/Manager form of government. Legislative authority is vested in a five-member City Council elected by district for four-year overlapping terms. The Mayor is selected each year by a majority vote of the other Council members. THE DEPARTMENT

The Finance and Administrative Services Department provides high-quality support services to all City departments and the community, including Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Risk Management functions, and ensures compliance with City policies and procedures. The Department is responsible for all financial operations, properly recording financial transactions, providing reliable technology resources, implementing best practices in employee relations, providing outstanding customer service, and promoting a positive work environment for a talented workforce. ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES

• Supervises and/or participates in various financial and accounting activities within the Finance Department, including posting, balancing, and reconciliation of General Ledger and subsidiary accounts and City bank accounts.
• Performs complex and difficult accounting work, including the related monitoring of personal deadlines and the deadlines of others to ensure adherence to quality and timely work products.
• Performs as a project manager for complex financial systems implementation and serves as a liaison to Finance staff and other departments in the implementation of all financial modules for the Financial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
• Participates in fiscal and accounting work in connection with budget preparation, purchasing activities, and payroll analysis.

Certification:

The Organization: 

The Town is a general law city operating with a Council-Manager form of government. The Position

The City of South San Francisco seeks customer service-oriented individuals to join the Community Resource Team at the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center. The Town of Los Altos Hills is currently looking to fill a key role within its Finance Department. The opportunities are at either the Senior Accountant or Finance Manager level.

The position is a promotional series and is responsible for the following:

Senior Accountant

Per diem librarian positions are scheduled for less than 20 hours per week and may not exceed 980 hours within a twelve (12) month period.

Job Duties/Functions

• On a continuous basis, sits at a desk and/or stands at counter for long periods of time. Intermittently bends, twists, kneels or squats while shelving books, opening boxes, or moving equipment; twists and reaches office equipment; writes and uses keyboard to communicate and enters/retrieves data; runs errands; lifts or carries weight of up to 50 pounds. Pushes loaded book carts.
• Assists users in the use of computers and/or other electronic devices
• May provide or support story time sessions (children or adult,) or the willingness to learn how to provide the service
• May host/support/coordinate programs (children, teen, adult,); willingness to learn how to provide that service
• Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Provide assistance to and advise patrons of all age groups in the effective use of the Library’s collection, facilities and services; demonstrate the use of library resources, tools, equipment, and electronic reference sources; assist with digital downloads and respond to difficult or technical questions as they relate to the use of electronic resources. Compile subject bibliographies
• Develop an assigned area of the Library collection; review and analyze collection use; recommend books and materials for purchase based on patron needs and according to the variety of patron ages, abilities, education, interests, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Performs other duties as assigned

The City of Burlingame is accepting applications for the position of On-Call Library Assistant I (Main Branch)

The Main Branch is open 10am-8pm Monday-Thursday, 10am-6 pm on Friday, 10am-5pm on Saturday and 1pm - 5pm on Sundays. The ideal candidate should have some availability during these hours. 

This application is for non-benefited, part-time employment only. The candidate will fill staffing vacancies as needed and will be required to work days, evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Schedule may vary and incumbent must be available to work flexible hours.

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is the county’s largest provider of affordable housing, helping make rental housing safe and affordable for approximately 20,000 low-income households. 

How You Will Make an Impact:

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is looking for a skilled Accountant II to perform a range of complex and varied technical and professional accounting tasks. Key duties include auditing, analyzing, and verifying financial records and reports, preparing financial and statistical reports, assisting with budget preparation, and reconciling general ledger accounts. This role also involves preparing year-end audit reports and schedules, managing full-cycle Accounts Payable (A/P) functions, and coordinating Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) disbursements. The Accountant II acts as a liaison for disbursement-related activities with agency staff, vendors, contractors, and external partners while also providing backup support for payroll operations. Additionally, the role includes conducting financial analysis, developing internal controls, and interpreting Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines.

The ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment is essential. A solid understanding and practical application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) are highly preferred, along with strong data analysis skills. Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities are also preferred.

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or business, or closely related field; and  
• Four (4) years of responsible professional accounting experience.
