Under general supervision, the Landscape Maintenance Specialist performs landscape inspection work; performs a variety of skilled irrigation operations and repair work; monitors contracts to ensure work completion meets contract requirements; responds to a variety of citizen requests and/or complaints; prepares detailed reports; reviews and makes recommendations on tree removal permits; and performs other duties as assigned.

Primary responsibilities:

Circulation Services staff perform a variety of clerical and office support duties in a teamwork-oriented environment.  Primary responsibilities include providing in-person service at a Circulation Desk and over the phone, checking materials in and out, resolving problems such as lost and damaged or claims returned items, and registering or updating library cards.  Hourly Library Aides also assist full-time staff in tracking overdue materials, collection notices, and hold requests.

The City of Sunnyvale is searching for a Budget Manager in the Department of Finance. The Budget Manager is a division-level manager responsible for developing, administering, and overseeing the City's sophisticated Operating and Capital Budgets and Twenty-Year Financial Plans. This position participates in the development of the City's financial systems, conducts and presents complex financial information and analysis to executive management and others to assist in policy decision making. This classification receives administrative direction from the Director of Finance or Assistant Director of Finance and exercises direct supervision over management, professional, technical and clerical staff in the Budget Division.

THE POSITION

To perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled horticulture tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of parks, pools, recreation, and cemetery facilities and buildings.  The purpose of this recruitment is to hire multiple temporary/part-time positions.  Candidates who do not currently meet the minimum qualifications for the Park Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for an Intern position instead.

Temporary/part-time employees work no more than 130 hours per month and 960 hours per fiscal year.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performing general grounds cleaning, including emptying trash receptacles, mopping, sweeping, and raking City park and recreation sites as needed. Water, mow, cultivate, prune, weed, renovate, and fertilize grass, plants, trees, flowers, and shrubs. Operate power mowers, chain saws, rototillers, aerators, hedgers, spreaders, front-end loader, edgers, air compressors, and other equipment. Utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work. Drive vehicles and equipment as required. Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities, swimming pools, and cemetery/interment operations.  Regular and consistent attendance.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Install, maintain and replace playground equipment and fences; assemble tables, benches and bleachers. Works as a member of the City pest control crew spraying various fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other related chemicals in City park and recreation areas. Respond to inquiries from the general public. Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems. Assist in setting up community services and special events. Maintain, repair and replace plumbing systems and fixtures such as light switches, motors, wall receptacles, conduits, faucets, drinking fountains, water heaters, water closet, urinals, water regulators and pressure valves.  Work cooperatively with others. Work any shift including weekends and holidays. Perform related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Park Maintenance Worker I

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  Six (6) months of experience in the care and maintenance of landscapes or facilities.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a valid California Driver’s License

WORK HOURS

The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The Position 

Under direct supervision of the Natural Resources Specialist and general supervision of the Parks Supervisor and/or Parks Program Manager, the Natural Resources Aide performs a variety of tasks and maintenance activities, including the removal of invasive plants, installation of native plants, trail repair, erosion control, and other related duties as assigned.

This entry-level classification will perform maintenance and labor tasks in support of habitat management and restoration activities under the Sign Hill Habitat Restoration Project. Work may be performed independently or as a member of a crew. Depending upon assignment, work is performed under close to general supervision. Work is reviewed while in progress and by the results achieved. Incumbents may provide limited work direction to temporary or volunteer workers.

The Position

The Department

The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community.  Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way), the Grand Avenue Library (306 Walnut Avenue) and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (520 Tamarack Lane).  Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read at the Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (GMCLC).  The City currently has one opening in this classification, for a position providing programs and services at the GMCLC.

Midpen has one vacancy for the position of Field Resource Specialist. The start date for this position is December 2024.

• Field Resource Specialist will report to the Foothills Field Office (FFO) in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve in Cupertino, CA, to the Foothills Area Manager.

About the Position:   The Field Resource Specialist is an exempt/salaried position, which is responsible for administering the principles and practices of public land management including: open space or undeveloped park maintenance, resource management including resource protection, managing budgets, prioritizing work tasks, and responding to public; stakeholder agencies; and other department inquiries. The Field Resource Specialist directs the day-to-day implementation of fuel reduction and vegetation management goals of Midpen’s Wildland Fire Resiliency Program. The Field Resource Specialist will support Midpen’s utilization of contractors and act as a point of contact for a wide variety of vegetation maintenance and management tasks. The successful performance of this work will require a working knowledge of a broad range of resource management trades and technical principles, as well as a professional background and the ability to coordinate work with other Midpen departments.  Candidates with background in fire risk prevention activities and vegetation management trades are desirable. Work Environment:  This position is part of the Land and Facilities Services Department assigned to a field office and will work primarily in the Foothill office in Rancho San Antonio Preserve, Cupertino, and will visit Midpen field sites. When conducting field assignments, work may include traversing rough, difficult terrain in inclement or hot weather with exposure to poison oak. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of conditions, as well as in an office environment. Positions in this classification must possess the ability to lift and carry materials and objects weighing up to 60 pounds and must possess the ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with the use of proper equipment.  Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. • Possession of, or ability to obtain, the level of certification in the Incident Command System courses as specified under the National Incident Management System (NIMS) within 12 months of employment.
