Economic Development Intern
TEMPORARY, PART-TIME, NON-BENEFITED
Hours: 16 to 24 hours per week
Salary: $17.00 to $20.00 per hour (depending on experience)

The Economic Development Division within the City of Campbell’s Community Development Department has an internship opportunity for a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate college student. This internship offers a valuable real-world job experience while enhancing creative thinking, writing, and presentation skills.
TYPICAL DUTIES/PROJECTS:
The intern will be responsible for helping implement the Economic Development Division’s various work programs to support the Community Development Department’s goals of assisting local businesses and promoting economic development opportunities to enhance the local economy. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Data collection and analysis
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with local businesses, commercial real estate brokers, property owners and other members of the business community
- Creating, writing, and producing marketing, promotional and advertising of economic development programs, business resources and City events
- Coordinating the City’s economic development promotional activities and efforts with other public and private sector partners and community groups
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Web content management tools; Microsoft Windows, Office 365, and Office suite; and standard graphic design software such as Adobe Photo Shop and Illustrator
- Data collection and analysis
- Strong writing, editing grammar and presentation skills
- Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with supervisor and staff
- Desire to commit to the position for an extended period of time
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate college students majoring in economic development, economics, commerce, urban planning, marketing or a closely related field.
LICENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver’s license is required.
Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:
General office environment within City facilities and performing duties off site, drive a vehicle; sit and/or stand for long periods of time, repetitive keyboarding; reach, squat, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
