EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the classification of Social Worker II. Under general supervision, incumbents perform moderately complex social services case work by providing a variety of services to County residents; conducting field visits; identifying, assessing and arranging alternative solutions to clients’ needs and obstacles; carry a moderately complex caseload; prepare and monitor plans; prepare court reports, depending on area of assignment; and perform related work as assigned. The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Social Worker Supervisor III in the Child and Adult Protective Services division of the Health and Human Services Department. Under general supervision this position plans, assigns, supervises, trains, reviews and evaluates the work of Social Workers assigned to adult and child protective services; oversees and performs social services case work of a complex and difficult nature in providing a variety of social services to County residents; performs case work of varying scope and complexity and may provide program leadership and consultative services; responsible for program planning and implementation as well as performance of the most complex work and the full range of work supervised on a relief or overflow basis and performs other duties as assigned. This position is the specialized supervisory professional level in the social worker series and reports directly to a Health and Human Services Program Manager.

• Plan, organize, assign, supervise, review and evaluate the work of various levels of professional social work staff in the area of adult and child protective services.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents may be assigned to either County Jail security or Court security. 

About the Sheriff’s Department :

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

The Department: 

The Purchasing Division resides in the City's Finance Department and maintains a "centralized purchasing system" that is responsible for all purchasing and contracting activity for supplies, materials, and equipment as well as general and professional services.  The Division also operates a Central Warehouse, with over 3,000 inventory items primarily to support the City's utility departments (Silicon Valley Power and the Water and Sewer Departments). The Division is also responsible for the disposition of surplus property and the City mailroom.

The Division will soon expand its warehouse operations with the opening of a second warehouse to support Silicon Valley Power’s infrastructure projects. This recruitment is to fill the Chief Storekeeper position that will manage operations at the current central warehouse, as the incumbent Chief Storekeeper will be transitioning over to the new warehouse.

The Position: 

The Chief Storekeeper is a classified position responsible for overseeing day-to-day warehouse operations, including:

• Oversee a wide variety of materials, supplies, and related equipment 
• Receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, tools, and equipment 
• Ensuring accurate inventory tracking and efficient material handling
• Providing direction to departments for orders of materials
• Supervising a team consisting of two Material Handlers and one Senior Materials Handler in the efficient requisition and issue of materials and supplies
• Obtaining quotes, preparing requisitions, and entering purchase orders in PeopleSoft in accordance with the City’s purchasing policies and guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have strong supervisory, communication, and organizational skills to ensure efficient, consistent, and service-oriented warehouse operations.

The Department:

The mission of the Finance Department is to ensure that the financial/fiscal activities of the City, its Agencies and Corporations are performed, recorded and presented in compliance with professional and ethical standards. The Finance Department administers the financial affairs of the City, including City-owned public utilities. The Position:

This is a paraprofessional position in the classified service and is distinguished from the next lower level of Accounting Technician II in that positions at this level require the frequent use of a high degree of independent judgment and interpretative ability related to a technical knowledge of accounting, computer applications, on-line financial systems, and applicable laws and regulations. While a Senior Accounting Technician can perform work in all areas of the Accounting Division, the current recruitment is within the Accounts Payable section. Incumbents in this class use computer applications on a daily basis in accomplishing their work. Incumbents in this class are expected to supervise and provide technical guidance to staff.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the position of Part-Time Librarian I in Adult Services with energetic and highly motivated individuals who possess excellent customer service, technical and interpersonal skills.

 The ideal candidate will have experience working closely with the public in a fast-paced full-service library environment. Key responsibilities include creating new and innovative programs for the public, selecting interesting and relevant titles for the collection, assisting community members with their information needs, and expanding the Library's community engagement and outreach activities. The Adult Services Librarian works under the direction of the Supervising Librarian and other management staff in a team-oriented and forward-thinking environment. The position requires a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program.

The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future Librarian I – Part-Time – Adult Services vacancies at the Sunnyvale Main Library and the Lakewood Branch Library, expected to open in 2026.
