The Position
The Children’s Division is seeking a motivated and collaborative librarian to join our team. What You’ll Do

The Librarian I/II performs a variety of professional librarian duties in the activities of the library including reference, cataloging, interlibrary loans, collection development, programming and outreach for children's or adult services; and other related work as required. The current vacancy may be filled at either level based on experience. Depending upon class level and assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 

• Advise and assist library patrons; demonstrate the use of on-line library catalogs, databases and other user aids; refer patrons to other appropriate agencies if appropriate.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services in such areas as children, adult, and others using various themes and technologies; recommend program and procedure changes.
• Perform outreach to the community, community organizations, and schools within established design and framework.
• Serve on materials selection committee for the library; select and deselect materials for assigned area; evaluate and remove materials from the collection.
• Serve at a reference desk; research and respond to difficult or technical reference questions.
• Attend and represent the library at professional meetings as required.
• Supervise and train assigned staff.
• Compile library activity reports and statistics related to assignment.
• Participate in department meetings and continuing education programs as appropriate.
• Respond to citizen complaints and requests.
• Design and implement special ongoing programs, services and events.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring budget and grant programs.
• Develop, implement, and monitor training programs.
• Design and analyze statistical reports.
• Administer grant projects.

The Librarian I/II receives direction from the Supervising Librarian overseeing the division or other higher level personnel. The Librarian II may exercise functional and technical supervision over lower-level library personnel.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the position of Part-Time Librarian I in Adult Services with energetic and highly motivated individuals who possess excellent customer service, technical and interpersonal skills.

 

 The ideal candidate will have experience working closely with the public in a fast-paced full-service library environment. Key responsibilities include creating new and innovative programs for the public, selecting interesting and relevant titles for the collection, assisting community members with their information needs, and expanding the Library's community engagement and outreach activities. The Adult Services Librarian works under the direction of the Supervising Librarian and other management staff in a team-oriented and forward-thinking environment. The position requires a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program.

The Community Services Manager for Human Services is responsible for managing the Fair Oaks Community Center (FOCC) and administering a number of financial assistance programs for local residents, as well as basic emergency and safety net services such as food, transportation, shelter referrals, housing assistance, and client advocacy. FOCC serves as one of eight core agencies in San Mateo County who work in close collaboration with the County Human Services Agency to provide vulnerable individuals and families in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks with much needed support to stabilize their living situations through a robust Information and Referral program. FOCC also serves as a designated entry point for the Coordinated Entry System for people experiencing homelessness in San Mateo County to access shelter and other resources.

The Community Services Manager for Human Services also oversees more traditional community center functions, providing room rentals for private events as well as free meeting space for nonprofits and community-based organizations. The Community Services Manager supports and interacts with a significant number of partner agencies who deliver services through FOCC. The facility includes both an Older Adult Activity Center run independently by Peninsula Family Services and a Child Care and Early Development Program. Other services delivered on site by partners include immigration and citizenship services, ESL classes, tenants’ rights clinics, mobile shower and laundry services, a mobile health van, and more. The Community Services Manager negotiates, prepares, manages, and monitors contracts and agreements with service providers and community agencies, ensuring effective program delivery and inter-agency coordination.  

This position also provides leadership to inter-departmental and inter-agency collaborative projects including the OYE Latinx Youth Conference, the Redwood City/San Mateo County Toy and Book Program, the bi-annual San Mateo County Homeless One Day Count, and other critical community projects as they arise.

THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City is looking for a dynamic, energetic, team oriented full-time (40-hours per week) Library Services Supervisor to manage, direct and coordinate a work area of the Youth Services and Community Engagement Division.  This individual will also work closely with the Library Division Manager to plan and deliver library programs for youth, coordinate the activities of the Library Makerspace, create the weekly customer service schedule, supervise staff, assist with marketing projects and other duties as assigned. HOUSING OFFICER

 

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Housing Officer to oversee the Housing Division in the Community Development Department, responsible for the City's affordable housing programs, human services funding, federal grants and homeless services. The ideal candidate will be a passionate affordable housing professional known for being creative and solution-oriented and will be well-versed in state and federal housing legislation and familiar with the unique challenges presented by California's housing market. This position manages the City's varied federal, state and local housing programs and projects and is responsible for managing the technical, fiscal and policy aspects of complex projects and programs. This position serves as liaison to the Housing and Human Services Commission which advises the City Council on funding and policy related to affordable housing and human services. The Housing Officer needs to work collaboratively with the Director, the other two program managers, the Housing Division staff, and many directors and program managers in other City Departments. Excellent written and spoken communication is required along with an excellent rapport with stakeholders and colleagues.

 

Currently, major work efforts include implementation of the 2023-2031 Housing Element Programs and establishment of programs to assist unhoused members of the community. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Contract Administrator I is the entry and first working level class in the Contract Administrator series. Initially, under close supervision, incumbents perform basic contract administration duties while learning County and programmatic policies, procedures, and guidelines. As experience is gained, there is greater independence of action within established guidelines. This class is flexibly staffed with the Contract Administrator II and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency, which meets the qualifications of the higher-level class.

Contract Administrator II is the fully experienced, journey-level class in this series, capable of independently performing the full range of contract administration duties. Employees are normally given substantial latitude in determining approach, procedures, systems, and methods in accomplishing the work goals. They make basic programmatic decisions that require the exercise of independent judgment and are responsible for coordinating multiple functions or processes. Incumbents at this level are typically assigned the more complex contracts.

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

• Support and/or lead complex procurement processes by applying knowledge of spending thresholds and competitive requirements, and County policies.
• Draft clear and comprehensive purchasing documents, including scopes of work, contracts, and amendments.
• Monitor and coordinate workflows for multiple contracts and competitive processes, ensuring timely progress and attention to detail.
• Analyze vendor data, synthesize reports, and identify areas requiring follow-up or escalation.
• Create tools and resources to support staff in adopting policies, including initiatives like the Library’s Small Business First Policy.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Coordinate the full lifecycle of contract development and amendments in collaboration with division managers, including drafting scopes of work, facilitating formal competitive processes, securing approvals, and maintaining comprehensive contract files.
• Provide technical guidance on procurement requirements and thresholds.
• Ensure compliance with insurance, credentials, service plans, and payment schedules.
• Conduct quarterly vendor monitoring through OFAS report analysis and escalate findings to management.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

Contract Administrator I:  Two years of professional-level administrative or programmatic experience, primarily in the area of contract administration in a community services or related setting.  

Contract Administrator II:  Four years of professional-level administrative or programmatic experience, primarily in the area of contract administration in a community services or related setting.
 

Knowledge of: 

• Principles and practices of public administration.
• Principles and practices of the program areas to which assigned.
• Principles and practices of contract development, negotiation, and monitoring, including budgeting and financial record keeping.
• Principles, practices, and techniques of administrative and programmatic research and analysis. 
• Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, and County and program policies and guidelines. 
• Computer applications related to the work. 
• Office administrative practices and procedures, including records management and the operation of standard office equipment.
