The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is the county’s largest provider of affordable housing, helping make rental housing safe and affordable for approximately 20,000 low-income households.

SCCHA’s Real Estate Development Division is a mission oriented, dynamic, and collaborative team, working closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets in service of the tenants and communities we serve.  By embedding the innovative spirit of the Silicon Valley into our agency’s culture, we are elevating our efforts to address the affordable housing shortage in Santa Clara County.  To ensure equity and justice, we prioritize housing developments for extremely low-income individuals and families that embrace residents’ lived experiences.  Our resident-centered approach leverages our real estate capacity, talented staff, and community partnerships. 

We are looking for a dynamic individual who will be a part of the real estate department and help us to develop a pipeline of over 20 projects and over 1200 units of affordable housing.  We are looking for an individual that will oversee and manage a team of project managers with projects ranging from new construction multi-family housing, renovation and rehabilitation of existing structures, repurposing of commercial properties for affordable housing, and master planning of large transit-oriented sites.

What Our Team Is Looking For:

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in community development, business, economics, urban planning, or a related field; and
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in residential property development, acquisition, and/or rehabilitation, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) from applications and financing through conversion, to permanent financing, including two (2) years of experience supervising and managing affordable housing and development programs, budgets, activities and staff.

The Position

The City of South San Francisco seeks customer service-oriented individuals to join the Community Resource Team at the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center. This position is shared between the Library Department and Parks and Recreation Department and works under the direction of the Community Resource Analyst. The Community Resource Clerk will typically be stationed at the lobby desks on the first and second floors of the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center at 901 Civic Campus Way in South San Francisco, however, may temporarily be assigned to other sites, or to represent the departments at special events. The Department

The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community.  Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way), the Grand Avenue Library (306 Walnut Avenue) and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (520 Tamarack Lane).  Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read at the Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (GMCLC).  The City currently has one opening in this classification, for a position providing programs and services at the GMCLC.

The City of Menlo Park seeks per diem librarians to contribute to operations activities, projects and programs in the Library and Community Services Department. Per diem librarians may support a combination of the activities below depending on the needs--location of service may vary. Schedules vary based on the needs of the library system. Both Menlo Park Library locations are open on Saturdays and Sundays, and until 8pm three nights per week. Per diem librarian positions are scheduled for less than 20 hours per week and may not exceed 980 hours within a twelve (12) month period.

Job Duties/Functions

• On a continuous basis, sits at a desk and/or stands at counter for long periods of time. Intermittently bends, twists, kneels or squats while shelving books, opening boxes, or moving equipment; twists and reaches office equipment; writes and uses keyboard to communicate and enters/retrieves data; runs errands; lifts or carries weight of up to 50 pounds. Pushes loaded book carts.
• Assists users in the use of computers and/or other electronic devices
• May provide or support story time sessions (children or adult,) or the willingness to learn how to provide the service
• May host/support/coordinate programs (children, teen, adult,); willingness to learn how to provide that service
• Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Provide assistance to and advise patrons of all age groups in the effective use of the Library’s collection, facilities and services; demonstrate the use of library resources, tools, equipment, and electronic reference sources; assist with digital downloads and respond to difficult or technical questions as they relate to the use of electronic resources. Compile subject bibliographies
• Develop an assigned area of the Library collection; review and analyze collection use; recommend books and materials for purchase based on patron needs and according to the variety of patron ages, abilities, education, interests, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education: Equivalent to a master's degree in Public Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, and/or Business Administration, or in a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a multi-faceted health organization and/or healthcare system.

The City of San Mateo Library Department is looking for a part-time Library Assistant I/II

The San Mateo Public Library is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) Library Assistant I/II  in the Children Services Division at the Main Library The Library Assistant I/II works closely with the Supervising Librarian and the four merit Children’s Librarians to prepare and implement Children’s programs and services. The Library Assistant helps children and adults with reference inquiries, prepares materials and conducts outreach and class visits, helps with storytimes, maintains displays, performs clerical tasks including typing, organizing books and other materials, and maintains statistical information and division-specific documents.

The San Mateo Public Library builds community by inspiring imagination, discovery, and learning.  The Library is a dynamic community resource and destination that includes the Main Library, a state-of-the-art LEED Gold rated green building, and two community branch libraries.  The Library provides library services to residents of the City of San Mateo and the Town of Hillsborough and is part of the Peninsula Library System (PLS), a consortium of public library jurisdictions and community college libraries in San Mateo County.  The Library is also part of the Pacific Library Partnership, a consolidation of four library systems in the greater Bay Area of Northern California.

The Library provides an array of core services for all age groups:  a collection of library materials comprised of books, magazines, newspapers, databases, compact discs, DVDs, downloadable e-books, and technology lending; information and reader’s advisory service; free access to information technology via public computers and wireless Internet, library programs for children, tweens, teens and adults; literacy instruction; specialized collections in the areas of business and biotechnology; a world languages collection that includes titles in Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and Farsi; and an extensive volunteer program that integrates the community with opportunities to help fulfill the Library’s mission.

What You'll Do

The Library Assistant I/II performs a wide variety of library support work and technical library tasks related to such activities as acquisition, cataloging, classification, circulation, and assisting patrons; and performs related work as required.  The current vacancy may be filled at either level based on experience.  Depending upon class level and assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Prepare print and non-print materials for introduction into the library materials collection, including use of an automated system to retrieve cataloging data and produce catalog cards; preparing and affixing identification labels and pockets to materials; pull discarded materials from catalog card files.
• Assign routine tasks and provide technical instruction to part time and other subordinate positions in area of responsibility.
• Assist in the acquisition, processing and maintenance of the periodical, microform, audio visual, business, historical, or other special collection for the library.
• Assist adults and children in locating materials in the library and in placing requests for materials not available.  Refer more difficult or technical questions to appropriate library staff.
• Handle patron complaints for overdue and lost materials; refer delinquent accounts to an agency for collection.
• Maintain statistics of library use; use computer produced and manual data to prepare reports on circulation processing, inquiries received and other activities.
• Assist in ordering and receiving books, records, cassettes, periodicals, and other library materials and preparing associated paperwork for payment.
• Perform routine clerical assignments, including typing, maintaining files, and routing mail.
• Use a microcomputer or the City's mainframe system for word processing, data file management, and statistical record keeping.
• Process incoming and outgoing interlibrary loan requests; receive and send requests via computer as well as by mail; verify requests for accuracy.
• Provide story hours to children and participate in other programs for children and young adults.
• Prepare and maintain displays and exhibits; develop artwork for publicity materials.
• Recruit and keep records of the work of volunteers in the library; screen potential volunteers and direct to appropriate library division for assignment.
• Assist and advise outreach volunteers and serve as library liaison to Peninsula Library System Outreach Service in the City of San Mateo.
• Check out library materials to patrons; check in and prepare materials for return to the circulating collection; register new patrons; collect overdue fines.
• Respond to patron in person and telephone requests for library materials, services, and information.

The Library Assistant I/II receives direction from higher level personnel.  The Library Assistant II may provide technical supervision over lower-level library positions.
