We currently have one opening at the Windsor Regional Library and are also accepting applications for the Central Santa Rosa Library, Cloverdale Regional Library and Healdsburg Regional Library. Candidates who successfully complete the interview process will also be considered for other vacancies that may arise in the next six months.
 

THE POSITION: 
This non-benefitted position performs sorting, shelving and straightening, and related manual work in support of library services. Please see the attached job specifications for full details about this position. Spanish bilingual skills desired. Please fill out the required Supplemental Questionnaire including locations on application.
 
TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to: 

• Sorts and shelves various types of library materials; maintains shelves in proper order and appearance (e.g. shelf facing).
• Shelf reads and corrects sorting errors on bookshelves; relocates library materials as required.
• Retrieves library materials from book drops or other deposit areas.
• Keeps library premises clean and in good order, collects loose books and materials, and performs item counting for check out statistics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Demonstrated ability to read and the ability to file or learn to file alphabetically and numerically.  At least 16 years old, and the ability to obtain a work permit if required. Spanish bilingual skills desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items, storage containers, and shelving units weighing an average of 20 pounds, and up to 50 pounds of weight, in order to move materials from one place to another, with the aid of lifting/moving equipment.
 
SALARY RANGE:               $18.08/hour

The Finance Department is recruiting for the position of Accounting Technician (Electronic Payments Technician)

The Position:
This is a journey level accounting technical class and has the ability to perform the full range of duties assigned, with only occasional instruction or assistance as unique situations arise. Employees at this level are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit and receive general supervision from an assigned supervisor or manager. Positions in this class may exercise technical and functional supervision over assigned staff.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Performs specialized technical and highly detailed work in the preparation, reviewing and processing of financial bank statements and other related documents.
• Assists in providing instruction to other department employees regarding specialized procedures and requirements.
• Administer the Citywide electronic payments program and assist with processing web payments.
• Preparing staff reports and other communication related adoption and implementation of new payment methods.
• Reviews various documents and reports related to area of assignment for accuracy, completeness and compliance with departmental policies, laws and other regulations.
• Prepare monthly spreadsheet of credit card/merchant services transactions and request journals to charge respective departments.
• Calculates and reconciles special assessments.
• Provides information to City employees and others that requires the use of judgment and the interpretation of policies, laws, rules and procedures related to area of assignment.
• Monitors, review and reconcile electronic banking systems (Bank of America, CashPro, Check 21) and internet payment processors/gateways across the City’s enterprise system platforms.
• Reviews and reconciles electronic payment activity with bank statements, the City’s financial management system and credit card transactions related to payments and disputes.
• Coordinates billing processes with other departments and acts as the department contact for credit card machine.
• Resolving technical challenges among the various system components (payment platform, gateway, bank, enterprise system vendors, City IT systems).
• Sets up and monitors accounting ledgers related to area of assignment.
• Reviews and corrects project accounting time sheets and error reports.
• Adjusts journal entries to properly record financial transactions.
• Ensures data integrity of ledger related reports.
• Maintains City investment and debt service portfolios including receipts and statements, broker confirmations, account analysis statements and interest payments.
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public, using good principles of customer service.

LITERACY ASSOCIATE – CENTRAL SANTA ROSA LIBRARY

40 HOURS PER WEEK – FULL TIME

 
We are seeking a customer service driven professional with excellent communication skills to join our team as an Adult Literacy Associate. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a group of dedicated professionals who are helping to change the literacy landscape in Sonoma County. This position is part of the Adult Literacy department located in the downtown Central Santa Rosa Library. Spanish/English bilingual skills are highly preferred.

Under direction of the Adult Services Administrator and the Supervising Literacy Program Coordinator, this position coordinates and administers tutor services for the Adult Literacy Services Program (ALS), recruits and provides orientations, training and in-service workshops to tutors for various adult literacy programs, and provides on-going coaching and support for tutors.
 
TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to:

• Organizes, conducts and evaluates orientations, trainings and in-service workshops for tutors of adult learners; organizes conversation classes and determines the schedule and use of the student computer. 
• Recruits, selects, supervises, supports and encourages tutors; plans and implements methods to both recruit and retain tutors.
• Provides tutors with all instructional resources and materials needed to work with the student and provides ongoing support to the tutor for the duration of their service.
• Plans and organizes events in support of the Sonoma County Library adult literacy programs; participates in public meetings.
• Plans and implements outreach methods for the recruitment of volunteer tutors such as providing information on our program to newspapers, radio stations (PSA), and sending mailers to service and business groups; follows-up on recruitment efforts.
• Maintains the literacy library with relevant materials for the ALS programs.

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in education, public administration or related fields. Experience: A combination of education and experience that creates an understanding of adult illiteracy. Generally, this would be achieved by two (2) years of administrative or programmatic experience including one year of library or literacy experience.  Experience working with adults in an educational setting. Spanish bilingual skills preferred.
 
SALARY RANGE:               $35.20/hour to $43.96/hour

The City of Saratoga is currently recruiting to fill a full-time Accounting Technician position within the Administrative Services Department. The incumbent will report to the Finance Manager.

The Accounting Technician, under general supervision, performs journey-level technical and administrative account support duties associated with preparing, maintaining, and processing accounts receivable and accounts payable records and transactions. The incumbent’s duties include reconciling accounts and ledgers, preparing financial reports, batch runs and wire transfers, tracking and maintaining manual and computerized accounting and financial records, establishing and updating vendor records, and performing related duties as assigned. The incumbent will be assigned to the Accounts Payable and Program Procurement Support responsibilities.

The Technician will have knowledge of and proficiency in: Terminology and practices of financial and account document processing and record-keeping, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, utility billing, and business licensing; Methods and techniques or preparing and maintaining records of financial transactions; Methods and techniques of researching and resolving accounting transactional discrepancies; Business arithmetic and basic accounting and financial management knowledge; Record-keeping principles and procedures; Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and ordinances relevant to the area(s) of responsibility; and related areas necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

City offices operate on a 9/80 schedule. This position is located at City Hall, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue; operational hours are 7:30 am-5:00 pm.
