Accountant I

This is the entry-level classification in the Accountant Series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents perform a variety of professional accounting duties while learning City policies and procedures. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult and close supervision and frequent review of work lessen as an incumbent demonstrates skill to perform the work independently. Positions at this level usually perform most of the duties required of the positions at the II level, but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise.

Accountant II

This is the full journey-level classification in the series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the I-level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Successful performance of the work requires thorough knowledge of governmental accounting practices and procedures, fund accounting, and fiscal management.

The positions in the Accountant class series are flexibly staffed. Accountant I positions have the opportunity to advance to the Accountant II level, subject to management approval and the employee’s ability to (i) perform the full range of duties assigned to the Accountant II level, and (ii) acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to meet the minimum qualifications for the Accountant II level of the series.

THE POSITION:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Secretary position in the City Clerk's Office will be a highly organized and detail-oriented individual, capable of handling a wide range of administrative and clerical duties. They should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to efficiently interact with members of the public, City officials, and other departments. Strong proficiency in office software, including word processing and spreadsheets, is essential for this role. The candidate will also need to demonstrate a deep understanding of record-keeping and be able to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. Familiarity with the City's legislative process, Municipal Code, and Public Records Act is a plus. Additionally, the ideal candidate should be a proactive problem solver, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. What you will do: 
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Relieve supervisor or other department staff of administrative support service functions; utilize independent judgement and initiative.
• Act as interdepartmental liaison relating to administrative or project support functions for the office and for compliance with city regulations and practices relating to those functions.

• Type letters, reports, memoranda and other documents relating to the department or division which may include contracts, proposals, technical documents, statistical and/or special forms, budgets, and charts.
• Compose routine correspondence and memoranda; proofread for accuracy, correct form, content and proper English usage.          
• Collect information from a variety of documents pertinent to assigned department or functional area of responsibility; compile data for reports; prepare routine reports as required.
• Maintain and monitor records and files; follow up on due dates; perform other monitoring functions to ensure timely completion of work.
• May make appointments for staff and maintain daily  calendars; may arrange meetings and conferences for supervisor and/or other administrative staff; prepare material and handle transportation when necessary.

The Position

The Aging and Adult Services Division of San Mateo County Health is seeking a Deputy Public Guardian Conservatorship Investigator III (DPG). The position is on the Probate Conservatorship Investigation team and is the intake section of the San Mateo County Public Guardian program.

The team receives referrals from all sources, for individuals who are no longer able to make decisions for themselves due to a disabling condition other than mental health. The probate conservatorship investigators conduct a very involved inquiry into the individual's past and present life to prove to the court that there are no other alternatives to conservatorship that will allow the individual to continue to live independently in the community. Conservatorship is a very invasive process as it removes most of an individual's rights. Therefore, it is as a last resort that a petition for conservatorship is filed with the Superior Court.

The current vacancy is in the Aging and Adult Services Division located in San Mateo, but will drive to visit clients at various locations, attend meetings, and perform various duties of the position. This person will report to the Supervising Deputy Public Guardian of Aging and Adult Services.

DPG's have responsibility for managing estates and providing casework services. They administer complex property and litigation cases, prepare complex court reports and testify in Court as needed and may develop comprehensive care plans. DPG III's also provide lead direction and training to other deputies, serve as liaisons with specific County and State department and community agencies, handle those cases that present the greatest liability to the client and/or the County, and may provide 24-hour emergency response services.

What You'll Do

The Senior Program Assistant performs a variety of complex clerical and technical functions in support of programs at the assigned facility.  Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Coordinate a variety of tasks associated with the delivery of services under programs at the assigned facility.
• Coordinate facility booking, scheduling and rental processes.
• Assist in providing for the safety, maintenance and security of program participants, staff, equipment and facilities.
• Act as liaison with program and managerial staff, community groups and program participants.
• Directly participate in, and monitor the work of staff assigned to, the program registration process.

DEFINITION

The Position

The City of South San Francisco seeks customer service-oriented individuals to join the Community Resource Team at the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center. This position is shared between the Library Department and Parks and Recreation Department and works under the direction of the Community Resource Analyst. The Community Resource Clerk will typically be stationed at the lobby desks on the first and second floors of the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center at 901 Civic Campus Way in South San Francisco, however, may temporarily be assigned to other sites, or to represent the departments at special events. The Department

The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community.  Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way), the Grand Avenue Library (306 Walnut Avenue) and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (520 Tamarack Lane).  Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read at the Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (GMCLC).  The City currently has one opening in this classification, for a position providing programs and services at the GMCLC.
