Mechanics at all levels perform maintenance and repair services on heavy/light City vehicles/equipment, such as fire trucks, automobiles, construction equipment, street sweepers, lawn mowers, stationary generators; and perform other duties as assigned.

The Mechanic is a journey level classification in the Mechanic series. The Mechanic performs a range of skilled tasks requiring journey level mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures.

The Senior Mechanic is an advanced journey and lead level position classification in the Mechanic series and may be distinguished from those in the Mechanic class by the broader range of responsibilities and leading a crew. Senior Mechanics provide lead direction and training to section staff.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Finance Officer, this position performs professional and technical work of a confidential nature in the areas of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, and public employee retirement (CalPERS) reporting. This position assists with the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the District, including maintenance of accounting and payroll records, and other tasks as assigned. 

TYPICAL DUTIES

• Manage, prepare, process and maintain records for bi-weekly payroll; prepare quarterly and annual tax reports and returns; confirm compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local law, rules, and regulations.

THE POSITION:
This benefitted, full-time position in the Cataloging Department performs original and derived cataloging for materials in all formats and languages; creates metadata for special collections materials; creates and updates authority records; compiles and reviews records for monthly authority control processing; interprets cataloging policies to staff; and serves as back-up for all copy cataloging tasks and other related duties in the Cataloging Department as needed. The position reports to the Librarian III in the Cataloging Department of the Collection Services Division, located at the Rohnert Park Headquarters.

TYPICAL DUTIES include, but are not limited to:

• Performing original and derived cataloging for special collections materials in all formats, local government documents, local author books; local musician/musical group sound recordings; world language materials and other materials in the circulating/reference collections lacking records; assigns Dewey classification numbers
• Researching names, birth dates, street names, etc. in the Library catalog and other databases to create and update authority records and digital projects metadata
• Entering metadata for photos, archival collections and other special collections materials into Excel spreadsheets
• Loading new records and correcting existing records in the Library’s integrated library system (Horizon), digital asset management system (Quartex), archives system (ArchivesSpace) or other platforms
• Compiling information on new records from a series of monthly reports; investigating problems such as missing or malformed call numbers; and searching WorldCat via OCLC Connexion for replacement records
• Preparing and exporting monthly batches of new bibliographic records to Marcive, Inc. for authority processing; retrieving, importing and troubleshooting processed files 
• Managing retrieval of vendor-provided shelf-ready MARC files via FTP, importing files into Horizon and trouble-shooting problems
• Participating in maintenance and enhancements to the public catalog

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience working with OCLC Connexion, Horizon, Quartex, ArchivesSpace or similar systems
• Knowledge of metadata standards, digital asset management systems
• Multilingual (Spanish especially helpful)
• Basic programming/scripting/Regular Expressions knowledge helpful

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education and Experience: Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), Master of Library Science (MLS), or Master of Science in Library Science (MSLS) degree from an accredited college or university. The Librarian II requires two years of appropriate professional experience working as a professional librarian, preferably in a public library. Must have a valid California driver’s license. Spanish bilingual skills preferred.

Water Resources Mechanics perform a wide range of tasks involving mechanical maintenance and repairs of pumps, plumbing systems, electric motors, compressors, piping, boilers, underground infrastructure, facilities and buildings, carpentry, HVAC systems, mechanical drives, gear boxes, blowers, collectors, belt filter presses, and chemical feed systems. The work is done at the Water Reclamation Plant, located at 101 West Jack London Boulevard in Livermore.

A Water Resources Mechanic I performs a range of tasks requiring journey level mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures. Independent judgment is required and is supported at regular intervals by supervisory review and direction. A Water Resources Mechanic II is distinguished from the WR Mechanic I by the possession of advanced journey level mechanical ability and aptitude and is responsible for solving more difficult technical problems.

The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community. With input from local, older adults (age 55 years+) as our guide, the AFS team provides a continuum of supportive services, from health promotion activities to home-based end of life care. DefinitionUnder administrative direction from the Human Services Director, plans, organizes and directs a Division of the Human Services Department which provides specialized family services; and serves as a member of the department's management team.

Class Characteristics
This professional management classification in the Human Services Department may be assigned as Youth and Family Services Administrator, Aging and Family Services Administrator or Family Resource Center Administrator. Incumbent follows general guidelines or professional and administrative standards in accomplishing assignments; it is characterized by the responsibility to develop and implement mental and physical health and other social services that support self-sufficiency, strengthen families, help children achieve their optimal development, and help older adults remain independent and engaged in the community for as long as possible. Supervision for the Family Resource Center Administrator is jointly provided by the Human Services Director and leadership team of the Family Resource Center. Review of work is occasional or on a problem basis with incumbents presenting alternative courses for policy decisions. Routine and unusual problems are handled within the context of general plans, broad policies, budgetary limitations and professional standards. Successful performance is measured by total results. This classification is distinguished from Human Services Director by the latter's responsibility to plan, organize and direct the work of the Human Services Department, and from Clinical Supervisor by the latter's responsibility to supervise counseling or social work staff, to monitor the implementation of professional standards, and to provide training and direction to professional staff and interns. MAINTENANCE WORKER (Full time)

Working in the Public Works Department, the Maintenance Worker I/II will perform a variety of unskilled, semiskilled and skilled light and heavy duty construction, maintenance and repair work involving public works, sewer and drainage systems, buildings, parking meters, and other facilities.

SALARY RANGE:
Maintenance Worker I/II – $3,350.50 to $4,485.52 per month (wages effective 7/1/2024 per MOU).

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Maintenance Worker I:  This is the entry level class in the maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled maintenance tasks. Although trucks and other motorized equipment may be operated by a Maintenance Worker I, the equipment is used on a training basis or for tasks which are repetitious in nature. Under this training concept, positions assigned to the class of Maintenance Worker II which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Maintenance Worker I level, with the understanding that reassignment to the Maintenance Worker II class may be expected following successful job performance and personal development.

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level in the maintenance worker series. Positions assigned to this class are expected to perform semi‑skilled and skilled public works maintenance activities and to operate light and moderately heavy power‑driven equipment on a continuing basis. All positions allocated to this class require that an incumbent be able to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative to fulfill assigned tasks. Maintenance Workers II may also be expected to assist in the supervision and training of less experienced personnel.
