DESCRIPTION
Water Distribution Operators inspect and repair water meters and water service lines; monitor and record meter readings of water consumption levels and assist with related adjustments as needed; collect and transport water samples for lab analysis; conduct bacteriological testing and monitors chlorine levels; coordinate and monitor construction and improvement projects; conduct inventory and order parts; program pump stations; and perform other duties as assigned. 

As experience is gained and certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to advance up to a Water Distribution Operator III is possible without having to participate in additional recruitment and testing processes with the City.

Overview: 

Under Accounts Payable Lead Senior Accountant's direction: - process assigned invoices for timely payment by promptly and accurately entering invoices into Infor Payables system, resolve invoice, purchase order and receiver document matching discrepancies and reconcile assigned vendor accounts; - coordinate and process weekly check run on a rotational basis; - issue and disburse checks; respond to A/P and general accounting inquiries from vendors and employees; - administer petty cash reimbursements to employees and reconcile petty cash fund; - scan and upload accounts payable documents and; - perform other accounting projects as assigned; - provide customer service to vendors and Valley Water employees.

Under direct supervision, a Water Distribution Operator Trainee assists in the operation and maintenance of the potable water and recycled water distribution systems; operates a variety of equipment; inspects and repairs water meters and water service lines; monitors and records meter readings of water consumption levels and assists with related adjustments as needed; collects and transport water samples for lab analysis; and performs other duties as assigned. Environmental, Health, and Safety Unit (Position Code 644)

The Senior Environmental Planner serves as an environmental compliance lead for critical infrastructure projects that provide safe, clean water to Santa Clara County. This role carries out environmental review and permitting for complex operations and maintenance activities for the Water Utility Enterprise, which includes the pipeline maintenance program. Examples of projects are stream gage improvements, pipeline turnout repairs, pump replacements, and culvert repairs. The planner will also provide expert oversight for other projects as needed.

This is a leadership position that will play a role in developing and executing integrated environmental strategies that protect and restore watersheds, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance the long-term sustainability of Valley Water’s operations and maintenance activities.

They will be required to perform maintenance and repair duties on water conduits and equipment. As well as performing a variety of tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. This position will be assigned to work at one of Valley Water’s three water treatment plants in Santa Clara County and can be assigned to work rotating on-call weekends after approximately 1-2 years.

WR MECHANIC I - $6,958.91 - $8,430.05 MONTHLY
WR MECHANIC II - $7,840.11 - $9,501.15 MONTHLY

Water Resources Mechanics perform a wide range of tasks involving mechanical maintenance and repairs of pumps, plumbing systems, electric motors, compressors, piping, boilers, underground infrastructure, facilities and buildings, carpentry, HVAC systems, mechanical drives, gear boxes, blowers, collectors, belt filter presses, and chemical feed systems. The work is done at the Water Reclamation Plant, located at 101 West Jack London Boulevard in Livermore.

A Water Resources Mechanic I performs a range of tasks requiring journey level mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures. Independent judgment is required and is supported at regular intervals by supervisory review and direction. A Water Resources Mechanic II is distinguished from the WR Mechanic I by the possession of advanced journey level mechanical ability and aptitude and is responsible for solving more difficult technical problems.
