This position prepares hot and cold food for inmates; supervises and instructs inmates in the preparation and serving of meals to other inmates in a detention facility; receives, stores, and maintains ingredients used for meals; and monitors and maintains security of the kitchen facility, equipment, and inmate workers. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Checks menus and number of persons to be fed; instructs inmates in obtaining necessary ingredient for meals and preparing work area; instruct inmates in a variety of chopping, cutting, mixing, grating, and food preparation tasks; instructs inmates on the operation of stoves and other equipment.
• Prepares or supervises the preparation of special meals for inmates with medical problems.
• Supervises inmates in the cleaning of all equipment and kitchen work area; counts and keeps logs on all knives. Assists in keeping current inventory of kitchen and food supplies.
• Receives and checks supplies to ensure that proper amounts and types have been delivered; instructs inmates in transporting supplies to proper areas for storage.
   

Under direction, provides lead direction to the staff engaged in the full range of assigned duties related to the City’s water distribution and treatment systems, and the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant Facility.

The Senior Utility Worker is the advanced journey-level classification in the Utility Worker series. Incumbents perform skilled duties in the operations and maintenance of the water distribution and treatment system, and plant operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and provide lead direction and training to assigned crews.

Receives direction from the Utilities Superintendent and/or higher-level staff. Exercises technical and functional supervision over lower-level utilities staff.

Under general supervision of the Senior Engineer, the Inspector performs advanced, complex, and critical inspections of District infrastructure.
