THE WATER QUALITY CONTROL PLANT:

The Water Quality Control Plant (WQCP) processes wastewater discharge for the cities of South San Francisco, San Bruno and the Town of Colma. The Water Quality Control Plant is a division of the Public Works Department staffed by 38 employees including: Plant Superintendent and Assistant Plant Superintendent of WQCP; Maintenance, Laboratory and Environment Compliance Supervisors; Senior Chemist; Chemist; Lead Plant Mechanics; Plant Mechanics; Lead Plant Operators; Plant Operators; Electricians; Senior Environmental Compliance Inspector; Environmental Compliance Inspectors, Utility Workers, and two Administrative Assistants.

THE POSITION:

The Water Quality Control Plant Laboratory Supervisor will plan, assign, supervise, and assist in the operations of the Water Quality Control Plant’s (WQCP) laboratory.  This includes supervising and training subordinate lab staff, operators, and inspectors as they perform lab analyses, and perform difficult and complex analyses and other duties as required or assigned.

SELECTION PROCESS:

The Position

The City of San Bruno is seeking self-motivated, energetic, responsible individuals interested in employment as lifeguards and swim instructors.  Under the direction of the Pool Manager, lifeguards are responsible for monitoring swimmers in the pool area, enforcing pool rules and regulations, preventing accidents and rescuing swimmers in distress during public swim sessions. Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching swim lessons to children 6 months up to adults. Evening and weekend work is required. 

Minimum Qualifications

Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications are necessary and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is desired
Minimum age is 15 years old (students under 18 will be required to obtain a Student Work Permit)
Must be available for mandatory staff training  June 1 - 12, 2020
Must be available for summer aquatics season  June 15 – Sept. 20, 2020  

No more than 10 days of vacation allowed.

Area of Responsibility:

Oversee the planning, organization and supervision of the recreation function.  The Recreation Manager develops, plans and executes the Town's daily recreation programming, including management of the Sterling Park Recreation Center and Colma Community Center facilities and staff; youth and teen programs, adult and senior programs, special events, enrichment programs, facility rentals, and related work as required. The Recreation Services Department

Provides programs, activities and events for Colma residents of all age groups ranging from infants to seniors at two park facilities: Colma Historical Park & Community Center and Sterling Park.  Program elements include: Fitness, Enrichment, Special Events, Cultural Events, Sporting Events, Trips and Community Events. ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Recreation Leaders and Assistant Camp Directors who are interested in working 25-40 hours per week during the summer, planning, organizing and conducting basic recreation activities in a variety of settings selected by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.   

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following: 

Recreation Leaders:

• Plan, organize and conduct recreation activities for youth.
• Lead a variety of recreation activities which may include, but are not limited to: arts and crafts, organized games, sports, drama, social recreation and music/singing activities.
• Supervise recreation participants, insuring that proper safety precautions are observed in assigned activities and free play.
• Maintain and care for equipment; prepare activity calendars, bulletin boards, lesson plans and/or coaching strategies as appropriate to help promote and plan recreation activities effectively.
• Assist in organizing, promoting, directing and staffing special events.
• Report to supervisors orally and in writing.
• Complete assigned paperwork, such as timecards, attendance reports and/or incident and accident reports.

• Follow Departmental and Citywide rules and regulations as they relate to the supervision of recreation participants and general work procedures.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Assistant Camp Directors:

• Assist with developing meaningful training to prepare summer staff for their role as leaders.
• Assist the Camp Director in the day to day operation of camp, which includes camp planning of activities, field trips, parent communication, and may consist of opening and closing of camp.
• Oversee pre and post care when available at camp
• Provide superior customer service experience to campers, families, and volunteers including returning phone calls in a timely manner and communication via email.
• Attend all training and staff meeting
• Display a high level of motivation, integrity, customer service and professionalism
• Perform all related Recreation Leader duties and responsibilities as assigned
• In the absent of the Camp Director, fill in at that role.
