The City of Marysville is excited to announce the employment opportunity for a Firefighter!  We are seeking energetic and outstanding individuals to join our team. 

This particular recruitment will be a 56 hour (Monday-Friday) position - with the exception of emergencies and Strike Teams.  The base weekly schedule will resemble the following example: 

Monday - 8 hours

Tuesday - 8 hours

Wednesday - 8 hours

Thursday - 24 hours

Friday - 8 hours

Our Firefighters perform firefighting, rescue, fire prevention, equipment operation and equipment maintenance activities to protect life and property; provide emergency medical and rescue services to the community; and perform related duties and responsibilities as required. The Firefighter classification receives direct supervision from the Fire Captain and may receive functional direction from the Fire Engineer.

This is the entry level paid classification in the field of firefighting. It is distinguished from the classification of Fire Engineer in that the latter is assigned more responsible and varied duties which require knowledge and experience in driving motorized fire fighting vehicles and operating related pumping, hydraulic and other specialized fire equipment.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Prepares and updates reports, logs, maps, and other departmental records as needed.
• Makes recommendations to improve the manner in which the job is performed and to deliver the highest quality of service to the public.
• Studies and trains on Fire Department rules and regulations, fire hazards, firefighting techniques, and other related emergency subjects.
• Maintains regular, consistent, and timely attendance.
• May be assigned to drive and operate fire department vehicles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (position requirements at entry) *

• Principles, practices, and procedures of modern fire prevention and suppression methods.

There is currently one (1) Full-Time 2-Year fixed-term position in the Department of Public Works supporting both the Water Resources and Road Maintenance Divisions.  

The Natural Resources Senior Planner will be housed in the Water Resources Division and will primarily support environmental compliance for Department of Public Works (DPW) Road Maintenance Division projects, including maintenance, repair, and replacement of roads, bridges, and drainage infrastructure (i.e., culverts, ditches and drainage channels).  
The work is dynamic, requiring strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to accomplish the following tasks that range among:

• coordinating with the Road Maintenance Division managers to develop permitting strategies. 
• analyzing project impacts on species and the environment. 
• preparing permit applications and negotiating with agencies.

The San José Fire Department's (SJFD) core mission is to serve the community by protecting life, property, and the environment through prevention and response. SJFD is a high-volume, all-hazards fire department providing fire suppression and rescue services that protects approximately 200 square miles, Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support services as well as specialized operations including Urban Search and Rescue, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, and a Hazardous Material Unit with a Decontamination Unit. SJFD deploys resources from 34 fire stations, protecting areas within city limits and some unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County by contract. This is the trainee level class in the Firefighter series, responsible for becoming proficient in the understanding of lifesaving and firefighting methods within the SJFD. Through a specific program comprised of general and specialized education, focused training including extensive hands-on experience, Firefighter Recruits will learn diverse tasks, policies, procedures and standards within the SJFD. Incumbents will learn techniques in emergency medical services, rescue work, firefighting and other emergency services. Duties may involve considerable physical exertion and potential risk to health and safety. Work is rigidly structured, highly supervised, and incumbents are continuously evaluated and receive feedback regularly. Firefighter Recruits must graduate from the Academy and be appointed to the class of Firefighter in order to retain employment in the job series.

• Paramedic Pay: 14% of top step Firefighter upon completion of Santa Clara County Paramedic Accreditation process (currently $733.69 bi-weekly)
• Oral Bilingual Pay: 2.5% of top step Firefighter (currently $131.02 bi-weekly)

Education & Training Pay (AA/AS - BS, Fire Science, Fire Technology, Fire Protection Technology): 1.5% of top step Firefighter (currently $78.61 bi-weekly)

Employees hired on or after January 1, 2017, must reside within 120* minutes travel time from the nearest City of San Jose fire station (non-traffic period as calculated by Google Maps or map program mutually agreed to by the parties).

*effective July 1, 2024, the travel time will change to residing within 180 minutes of the nearest

Overview:
The Grants and Claims Management Unit with Valley Water is the centralized unit for seeking and managing grants brought in to help fund Valley Water projects. Core components of this work that this position will support include pre-award (seeking grant opportunities, helping to write applications, working with project teams), compliance (ensuring Valley Water can meet state and federal grant terms and conditions, including The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) standards, working with Procurement), and communications with project teams, management, and the Board of Directors. Additional work in the unit includes tracking and reporting awarded grants for reimbursement, which this position may support during high workloads (e.g., end of quarter, annual reporting).

The work will include preparing technical documents such as grant applications, reimbursement packages, work plans, and budgets for grants. The management analyst helps conduct research from internal and external sources on topics related to grant administration. The analyst will organize and maintain grant databases, will assist in identifying and pursuing grant opportunities, and assist in writing grant applications.

This classification is for the City Clerk (CC) and Assistant to the City Manager (ACM); due to this caveat this classification specification will list duties and responsibilities for the two (2) positions.
To perform a variety of administrative and managerial responsibilities in the conduct and management of the activities of preparing City Council agendas, minutes, and Council packets, as well as responding to Public Records request and maintaining all official City records.

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Coordinator I – Facilities is responsible for assisting with the smooth operation of activities, programs, rentals, and special events at multiple Recreation Facilities. This position requires a high level of customer service, attention to detail, marketing prowess, and event planning and management expertise.

Mill Valley Recreation is a 7-day a week operation.

Recreation Coordinator I - Facilities schedule may include weekday, weekend, early morning and evening shifts. Schedule is subject to change depending on facility and supervisor needs. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Act as the primary point of contact for rental inquiries, promptly responding to emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries regarding facility rentals.
• Facilitate the rental booking process by liaising with internal staff and external parties to schedule rental dates, coordinate setup requirements, and confirm rental agreements.
• Oversee the rental application process by providing interested parties with necessary documentation, rental agreements, and pricing details.
• Collect and review rental applications, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate.
• Provide timely updates to both renters and internal stakeholders regarding rental status, payment deadlines, and any changes to rental arrangements.
• Maintain organized records of rental bookings, payments, and rental agreements, ensuring compliance with rental policies and procedures. 
• Schedule and provide regular in-service training for facilities staff. 
• Plan, develop and implement programs and events.
• Evaluate the progress and effectiveness of scheduling and programming utilizing measurable outcomes.
• Assist in the development of policies, procedures, contracts, and manuals for facility users and staff.
