The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time vacancy for a Facility Attendant in the Recreation Department and to establish an eligibility list.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, performs a variety of facility related tasks to ensure effective operations at the Recreation and Community Services Complex and related facilities and parks. Prepares facilities for use; works with users during events; provides set-up and arrangements for classes, meetings, and public and private events; registers participants for recreational programs; assists with cleaning and maintaining of Community Services' facilities including removing and disposing of trash, sweeping, and mopping of floors.  Provides staff support for recreation events and programs.

Qualifications:

The Plan Check Assistant performs a range of duties in reviewing and checking building construction plans (residential, commercial, and industrial) for compliance with all applicable State and City codes.

We are seeking an innovative and proactive Building Official with a positive, forward-thinking perspective. The Building Official will manage all building division functions (building permit issuance, plan check, and building inspections). The position reports to the Community Development Director. The Building Official will assist in integrating the City’s vision, goals, and people strategy with the business strategy of the Community Development Department; managing, planning, and organizing Community Development services, programs, and operations; developing and implementing policy; crafting and accomplishing department and City objectives, goals, and performance metrics within guidelines established by the City Council and City Manager. The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking highly motivated and results-oriented Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II/Trainees for the Water and Wastewater divisions of the Public Works Department.  Applications are currently being accepted to fill two positions at the Municipal Service Center in the Newbury Park area of Thousand Oaks (one each in Water and Wastewater). Dependent upon the candidate's qualifications, the vacancies will be filled at either the Utilities Maintenance Worker Level I, Level II or Trainee.

Primary responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair duties as it relates to the water and wastewater divisions
• Perform light and heavy manual labor
• Inspect and perform maintenance on various pump and lift stations
• Operate a variety of maintenance and construction equipment

Under direct supervision of the Pool Supervisor, The Lifeguard has the responsibility to enforce the safety standards, rules, and regulations of the City’s Pool program; to rescue swimmers in distress and administer First Aid and CPR when it is needed; This position includes ensuring the safety of all pool patrons, be alert of all activities in and around the pool while on duty and to assist with general maintenance and cleanup activities and performs related work as required.  Work is performed in a swimming facility environment, with frequent contact with City staff and the public.  Multiple Lifeguard positions are available.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate.  American Red Cross First Aid (either multi-media, standard, or advanced).  American Red Cross or American Heart of Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate.   

Under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Recreation and Community Engagement, the Pool Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and administration of the aquatic facility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to enforcing policies and procedures which ensure the efficient and effective operation of pool facilities, including personnel management and training. Duties involve all swimming pool operations, including first aid, rotations, scheduling for Staff, public relations, and light janitorial duties. Collect entrance fees, authorization forms, and logs as required. Provide Lifeguard services when needed.

THE POSITION

Under general direction, supervises, evaluates, plans and participates in the day-to-day operations of the City’s wastewater treatment plant and facilities as well as the water system and infrastructure; assists in the preparation and administration of the division budget; evaluates and trains assigned staff; interfaces with and coordinates assigned functions with other City services and departments; represents wastewater treatment plant and water system operations with governmental regulatory agencies; ensures work quality and accuracy and safe work practices; serves as a technical resource for assigned work crews and the department Director; performs other management related duties as required. 

DISTINGUISING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Utilities Superintendent is part of the mid-management level class responsible for assigning and supervising the day-to-day operation, development, repair and maintenance of the City’s wastewater treatment plant and facilities as well as the water system and infrastructure. The incumbent is expected to perform the full scope of duties. This classification is distinguished from the higher classification of Director in that the latter is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the Department. FLSA status – exempt.
