WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Transit Manager is an important part of the City's transit team that provide services including the Auburn Loop fixed route and Auburn OnDemand ride share programs.
Under direction of the Public Works Director, the Transit Manager is responsible for the management, supervision and participation in the daily operations of the Transit Division. The incumbent can expect to be involved in the daily operations, division’s budget, capital and grant-funded development projects, and a wide variety of administrative, research and analytical duties in support of assigned department.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
The following duties are typical for this classification. Actual work may vary based on department needs or change due to evolving business practices.
- Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and participates in the daily operations and staff work of the Transit Division, participates in budget development and administration, and selects, trains and evaluates personnel.
- Establishes schedules and methods for providing transit services, schedules drivers and ensures coverage of shifts, coordinates maintenance and allocation of vehicles, provides safety training, and responds to accidents and incidents, conducts investigations, and takes corrective actions.
- Coordinates transportation needs for schools and special events, coordinates transit activities with other divisions and agencies, and performs customer relations tasks, including answering questions and issuing passes.
- Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the Transit Division, ensures compliance with established policies and procedures, and works with local businesses to promote transit services.
- Conducts research, analyzes data and prepares reports to support decision-making, provides staff assistance to higher-level management, identifies opportunities for service improvement, and recommends changes and improvements to standards and procedures.
- Participates in committees and prepares reports, represents the City at various meetings and events, attends professional group meetings to stay informed about industry trends.

Work is performed in a standard office setting and field environment with travel from site to site, extensive public contact, exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors and gases. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting and to operate a passenger bus for extended periods of time; push, pull, lift, and/or carry moderate amounts of weight, twist, climb steps, and operate office equipment and assigned vehicles. Must see in the normal visual range with or without correction, sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate a vehicle. Must hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
SELECTION PROCESS
Candidates will be evaluated for qualifications. Those who demonstrate the strongest qualifications will be invited to interview. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview. The selection process may also include written exams and skills assessments. The final candidate will undergo a background check, live scan and pre-employment medical exam.
