The Firefighter-Paramedic protects life, property, and the environment by performing firefighting activities, emergency medical aid, hazardous materials response, and fire prevention duties. The position is also responsible for maintaining fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.

The Department: The Suisun City Police Department is a progressive and proactive law enforcement agency. As a result of its proximity to neighboring jurisdictions, the employees of the Suisun City Police Department remain extremely busy as they address the needs of the community. What You’ll Do

• Provide excellent customer service for the Fire Prevention and Fire Administration divisions
• Manage calendars of multiple inspectors, schedule inspections, and charge appropriate fees

What You’ll Do

• Perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of diesel and gas-powered apparatus, vehicles, hydraulic systems for aerial ladders, and other like equipment.
• Accept assignments received in the form or oral or written communications.
• Determine the nature and extent of needed repairs, prioritize them, and perform necessary repairs.
• Inspect all department vehicles to ensure they meet proper safety protocols and are in standard working order.
• Maintain all vehicles to ensure safe working order for all employees.
• Perform regular servicing and preventative maintenance on all vehicles and apparatus including performing tune-ups, lube, oil, filter, Inspection, and chassis lubrication.
• Diagnose, service, maintain such things as: fire pumps, relief valves, and other control of plumbing equipment (proper certification required).
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair engines, power train components, transmissions, transfer cases, differentials, hydraulic and pneumatic brake systems, steering and suspension systems, and electrical systems.
• Perform welding and fabricating work when applicable.
• Operate all equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Perform routine shop maintenance and clean-up and dispose of hazardous materials according to established procedures.
• Keep records of work assignments for bookkeeping and tracking purposes.
• Potentially respond to unanticipated emergencies to make temporary and/or permanent repairs in the field.

We are seeking a collaborative and results-oriented Purchasing Supervisor with excellent communication, strong technical experience, and effective leadership skills to join our Finance Department team. The Purchasing Supervisor manages the Purchasing and Municipal Services Center (MSC) warehouse functions for the City. With an emphasis on customer service, this position ensures material and service requirements are met in a timely, efficient, effective, and ethical manner. The ideal candidate will be an energetic problem-solver, ready to embrace challenges with creative solutions and advancements in technology.

 

The ideal Purchasing Supervisor candidate is a flexible and enthusiastic individual who can develop, mentor, and build relationships with team members and across the various departments they serve. The Purchasing Supervisor guides a team of six staff members located at three different City facilities.

 

The Purchasing Supervisor provides technical support, information, and assistance for purchasing materials, supplies, and services to all City Departments. The successful candidate will interpret, explain, and diplomatically enforce compliance with City procurement policies and procedures and all Federal and State rules and regulations. This position works closely with the Public Works Department and the Finance Department’s Accounting and Information Technology Divisions. These cross-functional teams work collaboratively to improve processes and procedures for efficient vendor management and payments, ensuring effective internal controls are implemented, monitored, and audited.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provides leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment that supports achieving the department’s and the City’s mission, objectives, and values.
• Supervises and participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans, work processes, systems, and procedures to achieve annual goals, objectives, and work standards.
• Participates in the selection of Purchasing and warehouse staff; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; conducts staff meetings as necessary.

• Administers formal and informal bidding and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes; assists departments with preparation and review of RFP and bid documents; ensures development of a competitive product specification; ensures all federal, state, and local laws are met; evaluates bids against specifications and per City code, laws, and established policy.
• Oversees and administers the City’s Cal Card Program; opens and closes accounts; conducts training sessions for new cardholders; monitors payments of invoices and types of purchases; audits cardholder statements; reviews vendor activity reports quarterly to determine if better pricing could be obtained through competitive bidding; prepares reports for Finance Director regarding card use.
• Oversees, monitors, and utilizes the purchasing website to solicit bids and review vendor activity; evaluates the vendor list to ensure integrity and accuracy of list; ensures all active vendors are registered; maintains solicitation to keep all data current.
• Oversees and manages vendor information and payment system entry including W9 processes and procedures.
• Oversees the activities for the MSC warehouse including the effective management of inventory and annual inventory count process.
• Maintains and updates a variety of manuals including purchasing manual and Cal Card administrative manual.
• Maintains current knowledge of new trends and innovations in the fields of purchasing and inventory management; attends and participates in professional group meetings; participates in professional development activities.

The Fire Engineer participates in fire suppression, training, prevention, rescue, inspection, and public education activities in protecting life, property, and the environment. The incumbent drives and operates all fire apparatus and equipment; responds to all emergency calls for service; and provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured. The Emergency Dispatcher I/II position in the Sheriff’s Department performs a variety of difficult work in the provision of 24-hour-per-day, seven-days-per-week public safety emergency dispatch service, including all 911 communications. Emergency Dispatcher I is the entry level class in the Emergency Dispatcher series.  It differs from Emergency Dispatcher II in that the II level is fully trained as a dispatcher and may provide training for the Dispatcher I. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Receives incoming calls from the public; determines type of assistance required, including law enforcement, fire or ambulance personnel, etc., and dispatches emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone communications to appropriate jurisdictions and agencies.
• Operates a law enforcement 911 communications network.
• Maintains radio communications with field personnel as necessary to relay messages and information, and to determine the location and safety of field personnel.
• Performs a variety of clerical duties as required, including but not limited to answering business telephones; processing and/or maintaining department records, including case files; compiling information and statistics for reports; preparing criminal history reports; entering/cancelling/retrieving data on computer; ordering supplies, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Processes civil, misdemeanor, juvenile and felony warrants.

 

Central County Fire Department (CCFD) serves the Cities of Burlingame and Millbrae and the Town of Hillsborough. The Department serves a population of 66,045 from six fire stations across a service area of approximately 15 square miles. CCFD is supported by 91 FTEs and a FY2023-24 operating budget of $33.14 million. The Fire Marshal reports to the Deputy Fire Chief and oversees the Prevention and Preparedness Division supported by 7 team members.
 
CCFD is seeking a well-regarded professional in the regulatory community who is an outstanding communicator and relationship builder capable of easily establishing credibility with a wide range of audiences. Three years of experience as a fire inspector or as a company officer performing fire prevention inspections and possession of an AA/AS degree will be considered qualifying. A California Fire Prevention Officer Certificate is required. A Bachelor’s degree is desirable.
