Suisun City is located midway between San Francisco and Sacramento in south central Solano County. The City, which was among the first to incorporate in California, developed around a waterfront that has direct access to San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Although the City is largely developed, several large parcels exist and a large annexation is on the horizon that signals ongoing development activity will continue to be in the City’s future.

The Position

The primary job responsibility of the Public Works Maintenance Worker I is to join our team of field employees who work daily to maintain, repair, and construct the physical systems that serve the community, including parks, recreation equipment, streets, traffic signals, landscaped areas, sewer & storm drain collection systems, and other public facilities. We’re looking for creative problem-solvers to perform high-quality skilled work with a variety of tools and equipment types under the direction and guidance of more experienced lead workers and managers in both individual and team projects.

Essential Job Functions

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Performs a variety of maintenance and repair work on various City facilities and structures including streets, landscaped areas, recreation facilities, sewer, storm drains, traffic signals, and other public facilities.
• Operates construction and maintenance equipment and power tools such as a dump truck, front-end loader, backhoe, tractor, overlay machine, jetter, compressor, jackhammer, paint sprayer, and concrete saw; maintains hand tools and assigned equipment; performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Conducts traffic control when working in high traffic areas of the City; installs street barricades and cones prior to the performance of maintenance or repair activities; directs and controls traffic around work sites.
• Performs various street maintenance functions; identifies and repairs pot hole areas; repairs or replaces cracked, raised, sunken, or otherwise damaged sidewalks, curbs and gutters; removes any roadway hazards; identifies all areas needing striping and/or painting; maintain, clean, and repair collection systems.
• Maintains, installs, and repairs traffic signal systems; maintain and repair street lighting systems, program controllers.
• Prepares, installs, repairs, and replaces City sign posts and signs; cleans and maintains existing signs; trims vegetation that presents safety hazards, clears walkways of trash and debris; removes graffiti.
• Maintains assessment districts and landscaped areas including parkways, open space areas, and medians; performs weed abatement and pesticide applications; installs and maintains irrigation systems to ensure proper operating efficiency; maintains, trims, and removes trees.
• Utilizes proper safety precautions related to all work performed.
• Clears, maintains, and disposes of trash in public areas; oversees the work of contract staff; performs special projects as required.
• Provides courteous customer service; responds to questions and inquiries from the general public regarding various maintenance projects; resolves customer problems or complaints.

Under direction of the Director of Public Works, or designee, the Senior Civil Engineer provides high-level engineering services for the City of Mill Valley. The Senior Civil Engineer provides administrative, professional, and technical assistance to the Public Works Director, manages municipal engineering staff and may act on behalf of the Director as assigned.

Examples of assignments include:

• Designing, implementing and managing Capital Improvement Projects.
• Overseeing land development review and associated coordination with Planning and Building Department staff and applicants
• Managing flood, drainage, stormwater prevention programs and projects
• Addresses traffic operational and safety concerns
• Submitting/certifying sanitary sewer system reports and overseeing the program
• Issuing encroachment permits and supervising the encroachment process

THE POSITION:

Under general supervision, the IT Programmer Analyst manages and administers Information Technology (IT) systems for the Sonoma County Library; installs and maintains a variety of enterprise system software and associated hardware; designs databases and procedures required to support system applications; performs database and/or website administration, programming, training, systems, and requirements analysis; performs other related duties as required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Information Technology Manager or Sr. IT Programmer Analyst; incumbents are expected to perform the full range of duties with only occasional instruction or assistance, and frequently work outside the immediate proximity of a supervisor. The IT Programmer Analyst is fully trained in the scope of duties associated with this level and work is normally reviewed only on completion and for overall results. They may also assist in training and providing direction to others.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

The IT Programmer Analyst is the journey-level classification responsible for the development, administration, and maintenance of an assigned IT system, including internet and data systems integration between public-facing and internal platforms. Incumbents at this level are expected to be fully competent to perform the position's full range of duties independently.  This classification is distinguished from the Senior IT Programmer Analyst in that it performs assignments that are less complex in scope or nature. Additionally, this class does not supervise lower level staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office and library setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; color vision, for example, to use services that still color-code status and to configure computer wiring; hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone; the ability to operate a motor vehicle and to visit various branches and meeting sites. This classification primarily works indoors and requires movement between work areas. Operations & Maintenance SUPERINTENDENT

The Operations and Maintenance Superintendent (O&M Superintendent) oversees all aspects of wastewater conveyance system operations and maintenance. This position reports to the Operations and Maintenance Manager and supervises and directs assigned staff.

Under the direction of the Operations and Maintenance Manager, the Operations and Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for managing the daily operations of the District wastewater collection and conveyance system, maintenance on infrastructure such as cleaning of gravity lines, operation and maintenance of pump stations, inspection and testing of air valve assemblies, customer service calls requiring field personnel response, and utilizing the District's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage the productivity of the Operations and Maintenance Department.

• Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by CWEA certification or courses in water/wastewater resources, project management, or a related field. A college degree is desirable.
• Three years of experience as a supervisor, preferably in water or wastewater operations.

Licensing, Certification, and Registration Standards: 

• Must possess a valid California Water Environmental Association (CWEA) certification at time of hire.
• Must be able to obtain a valid Collection System Maintenance Grade III issued by the California Water Environmental Association (CWEA) within 24 months of date of hire.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver’s License and insurability under the District’s vehicle liability insurance coverage.
• Possession of CWEA Collection System Maintenance Grade IV and/or Mechanical Technical Grade I is highly desirable.

The City of Mill Valley is seeking a self-directed problem-solver with an entrepreneurial spirit, high standards of excellence, and demonstrated commitment to public service and program development.

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Coordinator – Aquatics manages the City’s aquatics programming which includes swim lessons, lap swim, water-walking, fitness classes, etc. This position also supervises all lifeguards, teachers, aides, and instructors and provides key assistance to the Recreation Supervisor on all related matters.

The Aquatics & Fitness Center is a 7 day a week operation.

Recreation Coordinator work schedule will be Saturdays through Wednesdays. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Recruit, hire, manage, train, schedule, audit, discipline and evaluate staff, contractors, interns and volunteers.
• Schedule and provide regular in-service training for aquatics staff.
