The City of Sunnyvale’s Department of Public Works is recruiting for two Senior Maintenance Worker positions within the Street Operations division. One Senior Maintenance Worker position will be assigned to the pavement team responsible for maintenance, repair, sweeping and cleaning of City streets, curbs, gutters, and similar right-of-way infrastructure. Electricians are responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and operating high and low voltage/amperage electrical components, systems and equipment including locating problems; determining appropriate courses of action; and coordinating repairs with affected parties. They design, fabricate, and install electrical systems and components and install wiring and electrical equipment, ensuring code compliance. Electricians review work orders, maintain activity logs, prepare requisitions and obtain approval for various projects. Duties may also include purchasing electrical supplies, including filling out paperwork; coordinating purchases; and, choosing vendors. They are responsible for responding to occasional emergencies, evaluating and taking required actions and determining if support is needed.

Airport electricians are responsible for a wide range of equipment and systems in a 24/7/365 operation, including repair, installation, operation, and maintenance. Responsibilities may include airfield/airport specific systems and equipment such as series lighting circuits, constant current regulators, airfield lighting control systems, and airfield lights. In addition, responsibilities may include interior and exterior lighting fixtures (including high mast ramp lighting, street lighting, parking lot lighting, etc.), lighting control systems, building management systems, access control systems, fire alarm systems, power management systems, building distribution systems and equipment up to 12kv, motor control equipment, baggage handling systems, emergency generators, vehicle gate operators, pump stations and fiber optics. Shift schedules are based upon the needs and requirements of the Airport and may require rotation assignments or assignment to a specific shift. Weekend and holiday work may be required, and standby time may be required.

Public Works Department
Public Works electrician duties include: new construction, remodels, small tenant improvement projects, lighting retrofit projects, maintenance of pump stations (includes motor controls and PLC's and computerized alarm and monitoring of pumps, etc.), emergency generators, fire alarm systems, vehicle gate operators, badge access controls, lighting control systems, electrical building distribution systems and equipment up to and including 12kv, installing cat 5 and fiber optic networks and maintenance of all City buildings. They also set up temporary power for numerous special events on weekends and public address setups. PW provides standby Electricians 24/7. Depending upon assignment, Swing Shift, Graveyard Shift, weekend, and holiday work may be required.

Department of Transportation
Department of Transportation electricians are responsible for the ongoing maintenance and improvements of San Jose's streetlight and traffic signal systems. Responsibilities may include installation and maintenance of fiber optic cable, speed radar signs, video detection, traffic monitoring cameras, and 'smart' LED streetlights.

Job Description

Under direct supervision, the Development Strategy & Finance Sr. Analyst works within the Port’s Real Estate and Development Division leading analytical work related to the Port’s Public-Private Partnership Development Projects. Key tasks will include preparing complex financial analyses and reports, analyzing development pro formas and appraisals, coordinating the issuance and disbursement of bonds and associated record keeping documentation, supporting with development negotiations, and managing division-wide contracts, billings, and budgets.

The Sr. Analyst will support Project Managers with all aspects of Port Development projects. The role will receive support in learning and performing all tasks with the goal of independently managing specific areas over time. The Development team and this position are collaborative in nature, and the Sr. Analyst will work with both internal and external stakeholders including all Port Divisions, specifically Port Finance and the Port’s Resilience team, the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, the Office of Public Finance, and private development partners.

The essential functions of this position include:

• Analyzes Port-wide development opportunities to prioritize projects and determine value to support Port-wide Sea Level Rise resilience projects.
• Reviews project pro formas, appraisals, and other financial analyses to determine fiscal feasibility and economic value to the Port.
• Supports Port Development, Finance, and Office of Public Finance teams with tax district formation and bond issuances.
• Tracks ongoing Project finances to ensure projects stay on budget, public sources are sufficient for funding, and Port meets revenue expectations.
• Identifies cost-saving measures for development projects and support the implementation of these actions with other City departments
• Supports Project Managers on development negotiations (term sheets, leases, community benefits) by conducting research tasks and financial projections
• Assists in the drafting of relevant development deal documents (term sheet, leases, Development Agreements)

Qualifications

Education

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; AND

Experience

Three (3) years full-time equivalent experience performing professional-level analytical work. Qualifying professional-level analytical work includes analysis, development, administration, and reporting in major programs and functions of an organization in the areas of budgets, contracts, grants, policy, or other functional areas related to the duties of positions in the 1823 Class series; AND

License and Certification

Possession of a valid California driver’s license (to be presented at time of appointment).  Employees must be insurable under the Port’s automobile liability insurance.  Insurability must be maintained throughout employment.

Education Substitution: Additional qualifying work experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of 2 years (1 year of work experience is equal to 30 semester units or 45 quarter units).

San José Mineta International Airport is hiring for an Analyst I/II in its Planning and Development Division. This position reports directly to the Senior Analyst and is a crucial member of the Airport's Planning and Development Division. The Analyst is part of the fiscal team in the Planning and Development Division of the Airport. The Analyst's primary role is to support the development, monitoring, reporting and administration of the Division's annual operating budget and capital budget. The Analyst also serves as a liaison for coordination of the budget and financial information between multiple stakeholders including the Airport's Finance Division and the City's Budget Office. Minutes : Responsibilities include attending City Council, Council Committee, Board or Commission meetings and taking complete notes of actions taken while utilizing Granicus software and/or other audio recording equipment to provide for storage and playback. Subsequently, the Legislative Secretary is responsible for preparing a synopsis and/or minutes of the meeting which accurately reflect the course of the proceedings and actions taken by the body for the approval by the City Clerk for publication and distribution within prescribed deadlines. The Legislative Secretary must selectively condense and paraphrase the discussions while exercising care to include relevant materials and to accurately record the vote(s) taken. THE DEPARTMENT

The Community Development department is responsible for ensuring a sustainable and vibrant community that supports a high quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors. It includes the Building, Planning and Housing divisions, and core services include building permits, plan check, inspections, affordable housing administration and housing initiatives, as well as long-range planning and development review. The Building Division is responsible for managing the building permit, plan check and inspection processes for compliance with all applicable State laws, local municipal codes and related policies involving building construction, which requires a high level of customer service with the public and coordination within and across departments and agencies.

THE POSITION

The Building Official oversees the development of programs, projects, operations, and services of the Building Division, and is a part of the Community Development management team. This position will manage a 13-member team, including a Permit Manager, Building Permit Technicians, Plan Check Engineer, and Building Inspectors, and will receive general direction from the Assistant Community Development Director or the Community Development Director. Successful performance in this role requires professional and technical skills in the core functional areas of permitting, plan checking and building inspections, as well as knowledge of public policy and municipal services, and excellence in communication and leadership. The individual must be able to assess the current needs of the department and look for innovative ways to help the department advance to improve service delivery and meet the changing needs of the community. This will require guiding modifications to the City’s land management permitting system (Accela) to improve processes, enhance customer service and monitor data.

With the adoption of the General Plan Update in 2016 and, most recently, the Housing Element zoning-related changes, the City is expected to see physical change as plans come to fruition. A key priority for this position will be overseeing the building permit process for a diverse range of projects from tenant improvements to new single-family residential construction to hotels to large-scale, comprehensive planned mixed-use campuses. Currently, the City has approximately 775 residential units and 260,000 square feet of life science uses under construction, with over 2,000 residential units, two hotels and more than 1.8 million square feet of commercial square footage approved, but not yet under construction, along with a number of large development projects currently under review.
