The District has an exciting position developed in partnership with Facebook.  This position works closely with the District’s Emergency Services Manager and is primarily embedded at Facebook, serving as the District’s onsite liaison.  The classification is categorized as a Public Service Assistant and is a limited duration assignment.  Please read below for more details:

Definition

The Public Service Assistant is a general classification that provides various support to the District in a limited term role.  As a limited term position, funding is not guaranteed for this position from one budget year to the next.  This classification covers 3 levels, PSA I/II/III, and has different requirements based on the scope of the work needed.  The PSA classification can be flexibly staffed and filled at any one of the 3 levels.  However, for this recruitment, the District is seeking a level II or level III.

This limited term Public Service Assistant position works on emergency response and contingent planning, emergency preparedness, situational awareness, continuity of operations, coordination within an emergency operations center (EOC) and dynamic field environment for Facebook and the community.

Ideal Candidate

Typical and Important Duties include:

1. Attend regular joint internal and/or external briefings;
2. Create project plans with milestones to measure individual performance;
3. Provide weekly updates to Facebook’s Global Security Emergency Services leadership on progress of work;
4. Provide a Continuity of Operations Plan which may include:
   1. Emergency operations at Facebook
   2. EOC operations and exercises
   3. Trainings, exercises, and team building
   4. Documentation, report writing and compliance
   5. Recommendations for improvement to emergency operations
5. Guide planning and preparedness efforts;
6. Align various cross-functional internal and external stakeholders;
7. Work closely with Facebook’s Global Security Emergency Services team and other internal teams as necessary, and with regional public safety partners.
8. Participate in coordination of regional emergency response work as it applies to Facebook and MPFPD;
9. Provide strategic leadership, improvement, mitigation and best practices;
10. If needed, coordinate or develop business continuity strategies; and
11. Other tasks as assigned by the Fire Chief.

Job-related Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of office and records management.

Experience and Training

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Experience: Two years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a related public safety field, such as office of emergency services, fire, police, emergency medical, or emergency communications.

Training:  Equivalent to graduation from high school.  Possession of an Associate’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Licenses and Certificates

All licenses and certifications must be maintained as a condition of employment.

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California Driver’s License, which must be maintained as a condition of employment.
• Must be able to pass a Department of Justice background check.

• CPR/First Aid Certification is desirable.

The Recreation Services Department

Provides programs, activities and events for Colma residents of all age groups ranging from infants to seniors at two park facilities: Colma Historical Park & Community Center and Sterling Park.  Program elements include: Fitness, Enrichment, Special Events, Cultural Events, Sporting Events, Trips and Community Events. It is the goal of the Recreation Services Department to offer a balanced program ensuring all elements are offered to all age groups throughout the fiscal year.

The Department has experienced an increase in program participation every year beginning in FY 2012-13. Literacy Tutor – Student Coordinator

The Literacy Tutor – Student Coordinator will promote the awareness of a volunteer-based Literacy Training Program for adults in the City of Redwood City; recruit and train volunteers; recruit and place students; and serve as an advisor and resource to volunteer tutors.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assist trainers to develop teaching methods appropriate to the program.
• Assist in recruiting students and volunteer tutors for the program.
• Select and purchase materials for use by volunteer tutors in teaching students enrolled in the program.

The City of Brisbane will be sponsoring up to 3 summer internships this year.  Our internships are project oriented and are designed to give college students a good general overview of future employment opportunities and current issues in the Public Sector.  You will have the opportunity for exposure to various areas of City Administration during your internship, as well as have opportunities to network with fellow interns and participate in professional development activities in San Mateo County and/or Santa Clara County.

Projects for 2020 include

• City Administration – Provide research support in the City Manager’s Office on Smart Cities technology.  Review other public agency’s Smart Cities programs, research types of innovation available and propose project design for the City to implement.
• Records Management – Assist in project oversight of our records management project, create innovate best practices to implement the records retention schedule and policy, and support the daily records management tasks in the City Clerk’s Office.

The San Bruno Community Services Department Recreation Division is now hiring for the 2018-2019 school year within the After-School Program at various school locations in San Bruno.  We are looking for Recreation Leaders and Recreation Specialists to assist with homework, lead recreational activities, and plan enrichment classes.  Candidates must commit to working for the entire duration of the school year (August 2018 through June 2019).  Bilingual English-Spanish candidates are highly desirable.

Enrichment Instructors prepare and teach specific enrichment activities, crafted to allow students to practice critical thinking, creativity and teamwork. If you have experience in a subject or activity that students would enjoy, consider teaching an enrichment activity!

DEFINITION

Under direction, the Video Technician assists with the development of television programming and operates a variety of video production equipment for live cablecasts of public meetings and for preparation and playback of pre-recorded video programs and performs other work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Control remote and portable video cameras, operate digital video recorders and audio equipment for the live cablecasting of public meetings. Choose camera shots, graphics, and adjusts audio levels. View action on monitors; control contrast, brilliance, color balance, and fidelity and audio quality of cablecasted television signal. Inspect video production equipment for proper operation, control, and safety; make minor adjustments and temporary repairs to equipment as necessary. Assist in the production of programs including desktop editing. Create video "slides" using a variety of text, sounds, and graphics including backgrounds, borders and video images. Operate a variety of video imaging and scheduling software and/or character generators. Create automated shows using combinations of video "slides" and/or machine control commands. Duplicate and label DVDs. Maintain records of work performed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Television and video production techniques, operations and equipment. Video and computer graphics.

Ability to:     Operate television production equipment such as field and studio cameras, digital recorders, editing equipment, switchers/special effects generators, and character generators; set up, operate and monitor equipment, such as, lights, microphones, audio mixers; follow oral and written directions; work independently or as part of a team; follow safe work practices; work evenings and attend meetings; and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. College level course work in television production and/or digital video imaging desirable.

Experience: One year of video production employment desirable including live video production experience. 

License: Possession of a valid Class "C" California Driver's License.
