TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: PROVISIONAL (TPV)

This is not a permanent appointment. A provisional appointee must participate and be successful in a Civil Service Examination process for this classification and be selected through an open competitive process in order to be considered for a permanent appointment. Job Description

Under general supervision, the Tool Room Mechanic and Custodian is responsible for keeping, issuing, receiving and repairing tools and equipment utilized by the Airport’s Custodial Services unit; preventing minor losses through the safeguarding of tools and equipment; and keeping records of items received, issued and on hand; performs related duties as required.

1. Inspects tools and trouble-shoot equipment used in the cleaning maintenance program at San Francisco International Airport 
2. Maintains and repairs tools and equipment including assembly, disassembly, cleaning, ordering new parts and reassembly, including electrical and mechanical equipment.
3. Performs safety checks on tools and equipment.
4. Checks on tools and equipment returned for defective parts; orders replacements of supplies and stock items as required.
5. Repairs/replaces hoses, belts, electric plugs and electrical extension cords, on/off switches and replacing equipment fuses.
6. Repairs/replaces various wheels, filters, squeegee assemblies and squeegees on equipment.
7. Maintains custodial equipment through assisting/training staff regarding regular maintenance of janitorial equipment.
8. Performs and maintains custodial preventive maintenance program.  
9. Provides data to update tool and equipment repair database.  
10. Provides input regarding necessary replacement cycles and inventory of necessary repair parts.
11. Works in cooperation with current vendors and other repair facilities with regard to repair of larger pieces of cleaning equipment.

Nature of work requires some physical effort and dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs and body; intermittent exposure to working conditions where minor injuries may occur.

Requires completion of eight (8) years of elementary school, supplemented by at least one (1) year of experience in general mechanical maintenance and repair work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

POSITION

Supervise, plan and coordinate the functions of the Laboratory, Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Program (WPP), and related environmental compliance programs.  Performs and reviews analysis of potable water, wastewater, stormwater and related materials. Ensures sampling, monitoring, testing, reporting, WPP, and other environmental compliance programs comply with Federal, State and local requirements for potable water, wastewater and stormwater utilities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Public Works Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for the Laboratory Supervisor position will have experience working in a wastewater or water laboratory, with knowledge of State, Federal and Local regulation and rules. This person will be familiar with water, wastewater, storm water, industrial pretreatment and related programs, and have a laboratory background in chemistry and microbiology as it applies to water, wastewater, stormwater, industrial pretreatment compliance programs.  In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the Ideal Candidate will be an independent thinker who is well organized, has excellent communication skills (written and oral), and good time management skills.  Previous supervisory experience is very desirable as this position will be responsible for supervising, mentoring and counseling division staff and programs as necessary.

Plan, program and supervise monitoring, sampling, and testing to ensure WPCF processes, potable water production, potable water distribution, and stormwater runoff comply with State and Federal standards. Supervise and coordinate laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs; develop new methods of laboratory analysis consistent with Federal and State guidelines. Work with and direct outside labs or environmental firms on water quality matters. Plan, program and supervise the goals and objectives of the Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment program. Coordinate pretreatment program activities for the Sanitary Sewer Management Plan and Stormwater NPDES Phase II permit. Review and approve quarterly and annual pretreatment reports. Interpret and enforce regulations related to pretreatment, wastewater collection and stormwater collection. Prepare detailed draft budgets, assist in preparation of final budgets and administer adopted budgets. Monitor legislation and make recommendations concerning compliance issues related to potable water, wastewater, stormwater, pretreatment and related programs. Compile, sign and submit monitoring and compliance reports to appropriate State and Federal Agencies. Perform advanced analysis on data to provide information for decision making. Represent the City on routine basis with State and Federal agencies, and other public bodies. Participate in professional groups and committees and with the general public regarding potable water, wastewater and stormwater, pretreatment and related programs. Participate in the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of subordinates. Regular and consistent attendance. 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist with studies to audit and improve plant operations; conduct and assist with tours and regulatory inspection; respond to questions and requests from the general public. Ensure laboratory and pretreatment shop are maintained in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Ensure that maintenance, repair and calibration of laboratory and pretreatment equipment complies with process safety manual and manufacture recommendations. Observe safe work methods, practices and precautions; use appropriate safety devices and equipment in accordance with laboratory and pretreatment standard operating procedures. Plan safety and training programs and ensure that safety precautions and regulations are adhered to by subordinates. Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor of Science degree with major course work in chemistry and biology or a closely related field.

Experience:  Two (2) years of experience conducting chemical or biological laboratory analyses including two (2) years of experience performing laboratory analysis of water, wastewater or stormwater. Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in pretreatment and environmental compliance desirable.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a valid California Driver's License.  Possession of a current California Water Environment Association Grade II.  Laboratory Analyst certificate within 18 months of appointment.  Possession of a current California Water Environment Association Grade I Environmental Compliance Inspector certificate is desirable.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Ferry Mechanic performs preventative, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, trouble-shooting, repair, and modifications on structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, piping and control systems found on ferry vessels and passenger terminals; performs related work as assigned. Responsibilities include record keeping and written verification of work accomplished.
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Working with computers on a daily basis for work scheduling, work order entry and work order reporting on the Districts electronic maintenance system in addition to notifications and communications.
• Conducts tests, analyses and measurements as directed to diagnose any unusual, erratic or malfunctioning occurrence in any shipboard or terminal system or component.
• Reports any unusual wear patterns, noise, pressure, temperature, or changes in voltage, current, cycles, resistance or any other indication of potential malfunction.
• References manufacturer schematics including blueprints, drawings and specifications to resolve maintenance issues.
• References parts catalogues and other sources to determine correct parts for specific applications.
• Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs and overhauls as directed.
• Documents and records work performed and parts and materials used in the electronic maintenance system. 
• Reports all safety hazards and corrects unsafe situations immediately where possible.
• Immediately reports to supervisor any potential maintenance problem or condition which could cause a possible schedule delay.
• Maintains all work areas, special tools and equipment used in performing maintenance function, in a clean and orderly manner.
• Operate a forklift and other equipment/vehicles safely.
• Interacts on a regular basis with vessel operations personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

• Completion of a four (4) year apprenticeship program, or approved equivalent as a heavy equipment or marine mechanic OR four (4) years of progressively responsible journey level full-time work experience performing to the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment which should include mechanical, electrical or welding repair, and at least one year in an industrial environment.
• Experience in corrective and preventative maintenance records using a computer-based maintenance management information system
• Experience in utilizing MS Windows based software for data entry, work order processing and materials requisitioning

Required License:  

• Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record (Operates District Vehicles).
• No DUI’s or Reckless Driving codes within the last 7 years. 
• No more than two moving violations within the last 3 years.

Required Tools:

• Must have a full set of journey level hand tools to accomplish assigned work.

Hours:

• Shifts are scheduled based on seniority.
• The Ferry Maintenance Department operates 7 days per week, except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s day.
• Must be available to work all shifts; some overtime maybe required to handle emergencies.

Physical Requirement:  

Requires frequent and extensive physical activities such as: lifting and manipulating up to 50 lbs., bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, twisting, climbing, gripping, and other movements related to essential duties. Work around fumes, odors and dust in an occasionally high noise level environment with appropriate personal protective equipment. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Ability to wear a respirator and be fit tested. Must wear hearing protections when performing certain duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:  

• Occupational health and safety rules and working practices applicable to this position. 
• Monitoring and inspection of propulsion and auxiliary machinery and other supporting systems (i.e., electrical, plumbing, electronics, hydraulics and HVAC in a commercial application.

What You’ll Do

Under the general direction of the City Clerk, the Deputy City Clerk uses independent judgement to plan, organize, direct, and perform a variety of complex administrative, technical, and supervisory duties in support of the City Clerk Department’s day-to-day operations, primarily legislative operations and contract and process management. The Deputy City Clerk serves as the second in command within the City Clerk’s Department and provides backup to the City Clerk.  The Deputy City Clerk will provide a high level of administrative and technical support to the City Clerk and other departments and perform all duties of the City Clerk in his/her absence. • Assists the City Clerk in performing the day to day functions of the City Clerk's office; and in the absence of the City Clerk, act as City Clerk, performing such duties as serving as the Clerk of the City Council, maintaining meeting protocols, parliamentary procedures and proper conduct, writing agenda reports, taking minutes, certifying ordinances, resolutions, agreements and other official documents, administer oaths of office and supervise staff.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The City of Pacifica is recruiting for a Public Works Superintendent within the Department of Public Works. Under direction of the Field Services Manager, the incumbents will be responsible for the field services of the Public Works Department. THE DEPARTMENT

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining and repairing the City’s infrastructure and wastewater treatment operations in an efficient and cost-effective manner while providing a high level of customer service and a safe work environment for city employees. The Department maintains parks, playing fields and medians and keeps streets and trails clean and well-maintained. The Department also coordinates the tree program, cleans beaches and coordinates the City Beautification program.

The Public Works Department is organized into three divisions including Wastewater Treatment Operations, Field Services and Engineering. The Wastewater Treatment Operations includes the operation of the Calera Creek water treatment plant and management of the collection system. Field Services oversees the maintenance of city streets, parks, trees, vehicles and public facilities. The Engineering Division manages public infrastructure projects, transportation planning and maintenance and repair of the City’s infrastructure. The Public Works Department is supported by 56 full-time staff and an annual operating budget of $4.6 million, along with a FY2023-2028 CIP appropriation of $ 8.6 million.

THE POSITION

• Encourages and supports clients to fully engage in services; provides outreach and assists clients in addressing and overcoming barriers to treatment.

• Provides resources and referrals to address basic needs and other barriers to wellness and recovery including food, housing, clothing, transportation, and other financial resources.

• Assists clients with setting, implementing, and tracking wellness and recovery goals; develops individual Wellness and Recovery Action Plans (WRAP); models and shares effective coping strategies.

• Assists clients and families to understand behavioral health problems and steps to recovery.

• Provides support and guidance in navigating systems and obtaining additional support services; attends meetings and therapy sessions with clients (as needed); assists with completing applications and forms; and ensures client concerns are address and processes understood.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is currently hiring to fill one part-time vacancy for the position of Peer Support Specialist I (PSS) within the Children's Outpatient (COP) Department. The PSS position provides peer to peer support services in the office and/or in the field including, but not limited to outreach, support, encouragement, guidance, advocacy, and referrals to external resources and services for clients and their families; builds rapport with clients and their families through sharing stories of lived experience and recovery.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:
