The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Sheriff’s Records Clerk within the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department.  Under general supervision, this incumbent provides difficult, technical, complex or specialized work relating to Sheriff’s department records and associated automated information systems, and performs related work as assigned. 

Example of Duties: 

• Performs difficult, complex technical and/or specialized office support work, which requires the exercise of independent judgment.
• Prepares and types correspondence, reports and various specialized documents from drafts, notes, dictated tapes, or brief instructions, using a typewriter, word processor or computer; may provide secretarial support to administrative, professional or supervisory staff.
• Sort and file legal and general documents and records, maintaining alphabetical, index and cross-reference files.
• Performs technical aspects of collection, collating, retention and control of various documents and reports held by the department.
• Issues, receives, types and processes various legal applications and other forms; processes bookings and other jail related documents; transmits recorded information to the State.
• Provides information to the public or to County staff that requires the use of judgment and the interpretation of policies, rules or procedures.
• Provide information to law enforcement agencies, courts, attorneys and the public in accordance with legal requirements governing release of information.
• Conducts record audits and verifications as required by department guidelines and/or state law.
• Maintains statistical records required by state and federal government.
• Operates and accesses automated criminal justice telecommunication information systems and subsystems.
• Enters and retrieves data and prepares reports using a computer; may establish databases; reviews such reports for accuracy and makes corrections as required.
• Enters, modifies and retrieves data from local, state and national computer systems.

The County of Yuba Probation Department is currently recruiting for both Full-Time and Extra-Help Control Room Operators for the Youth Detention Facilities. Under general supervision, the Control Room Operator monitors video and audio equipment to ensure the safety and security of youths and staff in secured detention youth facilities; maintains records and performs a variety of complex, technical or specialized office support related to the operation of the Tri-County Juvenile Hall and the Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center; and performs other duties as assigned.

Example of Duties:

• Monitors the Juvenile Hall and/or the Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center video and audio
equipment and field radio equipment in a centralized setting to ensure safety and security of
incarcerated juveniles and staff; observes, documents, and notifies appropriate staff of any
incidents, problems or suspicious behavior.
• Coordinates bookings and releases of minors for multiple law enforcement agencies;
processes documents, updates caseloads and population counts; including projected and
actual meal counts.
• Receives, screens and forwards telephone calls and provides factual information; logs staff
communications regarding juvenile movements and activities, parental, attorney, teacher,
medical personnel or other authorized visits; records appointments for court dates, medical,
approved temporary releases and furloughs for juveniles, and other pertinent information
regarding the juveniles.
• Researches and assembles information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms
or the preparation of reports; makes arithmetic or statistical calculations.
• Organizes, obtains, maintains and purges various facility and individual minor files.
• Prepares and types correspondence, reports, forms and specialized documents from drafts,
notes, or brief instructions, using a computer; enters, modifies, reviews, and maintains
computer databases and automated reports; files documentation with the probation and the
courts as needed.
• Proofreads typed and other materials for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with
departmental policies and regulations.
• Oversees and personally performs a variety of control room and office administrative details
such as arranging for the repair of equipment, transmitting information, and keeping reference
materials up to date.

About Detention Services:

The Tri-County Juvenile Hall and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center provide youth detention services to the communities of Yuba, Sutter and Colusa Counties. The facilities operate under a Joint Powers Agreement between the three counties. Yuba County Probation is the administrative agency responsible for the management and daily operation of the facilities. The shared goal of staff is to provide services that will assist the youth in successfully reintegrating back into the community.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently recruiting for the position of Correctional Officer in the Jail. Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents may be assigned to either County Jail security or Court security.

About the Sheriff’s Department :

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

Under general direction of the Compliance Manager, the Health & Safety (H&S) Officer is responsible for the planning, direction, management, implementation and oversight of the Agency’s overall safety plans, programs and practices as it relates to the Agency’s operations and related public/personnel safety. He/she will be also be responsible for all H&S compliance, certification and training activities for Agency personnel and contractors, as needed. This is accomplished by evaluating the effectiveness of safety programs to ensure they are relevant to the operations of the Agency, overall. The H&S Compliance Specialist will be responsible for monitoring compliance with H&S policies, proactively addressing concerns; establishing goals and performance objectives for training and certification programs, including establishing benchmarks, implementing modifications and improvements, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local requirements, allocating available resources, establishing customized policies and procedures within Agency guidelines; directing actions of staff members and developing staff. This position will oversee the installation, maintenance and modification of systems to ensure internal controls to track all compliance and training components including all internal/external reporting requirements. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Training: A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of education/experience may be substituted. 

Experience: Must have 5+ years increasingly responsible experience in an industrial safety environment, or related field, including at least two years in a leadership role. 
License or Certificate: Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) designations are desirable. Certifications issued by AWWA and other recognized industrial safety organizations on topics relevant to conducting specific safety training courses and responding to hazardous materials and waste operations and incidents are desirable. 
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is subject to call out and must reside close enough to travel to Colgate Powerhouse within one hour.
