ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting a full-time Senior Civil Engineer for our brand new recently implemented Utilities Department. In this exciting opportunity the Senior Civil Engineer is poised to play a significant role in designing, implementing, and optimizing utility systems to ensure reliability, efficiency, and sustainability. The Senior Civil Engineer will help establish utility engineering standards, protocols, and infrastructure as it relates to water and wastewater for the City of Gilroy. Valley Water is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the Strategic Programs Administrator position within the Office of Integrated Water Management reporting to the Assistant Chief Executive Officer. The Strategic Programs Administrator serves as a strategic right-hand to the Assistant CEO helping to develop and maintain key agency-wide processes and procedures and oversee strategic projects and special initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of expertise in project management, financial analysis, and policy development. Overview:
The Associate Electrical Engineer will support the 24 x 7 continuous Water Utility raw, treated, and purified water operations, capital improvement projects, annual maintenance work plan, and asset management plans. They will be responsible for the planning, design, development, implementation, modification, installation, and maintenance of the Water Utility's critical electrical distribution systems in the area of water pumping, conveyance and treatment while ensuring work quality and adherence to professional codes, standards, and Valley Water specifications.
 
Raw water delivery operations depend on the reliable supply of electrical power for ensuring delivery of water-to-water treatment facilities, streams, and our customers. Water treatment and treated water delivery operations depend on the reliable supply of electrical power for ensuring delivery of safe, clean water to our customers in the Silicon Valley.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
As a member of the Utility Electrical and Control Systems Engineering team:

• Plan, organize, schedule, assign, review, supervise and evaluate the work of assigned staff.
• Serve as a technical resource in electrical engineering including formulating projects, assessing program effectiveness, and analyzing a variety of unusual conditions, problems, or questions; oversee quality assurance and quality control activities within field/specialty of engineering.
• Conduct engineering studies, investigations, and analyses, such as conditional assessments, feasibility reports, event incident/root cause analysis reports, and engineering evaluations in support of a planned project/improvement, system deficiencies, non-code compliant conditions, and electrical system and process anomalies.
• Prepare electrical engineering schematics, specifications, drawings, wiring diagrams, power, lighting, and floor plans, conduit and wire schedules, electrical details, and other supporting documentation for commercial and industrial applications; perform economic and financial analysis of projects; provide cost estimates and cost benefit analysis for comparison; review and comment on drawings, plans, and other work submitted by external consultants, engineers, contractors, and developers for conformance with current standards.
• Identify and report electrical deficiencies and safety issues; investigate and create root cause analysis from electrical system reports; interview operations and maintenance staff and conduct field observations and inspections; develop recommendations to mitigate electrical disturbances, outages, and abnormalities; lead or assist in resolving deficiencies and safety issues.
• May grow into a supervisory role to plan, organize, schedule, assign, review, supervise and evaluate the work of assigned staff.

• Design, installation and troubleshooting experience in electrical power systems within an industrial plant/facilities environment.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (ABET accredited college/university). 
• Experience with a diverse set of projects, ranging from researching electrical and hardware components to troubleshooting and repairing existing electrical systems, is a plus.
• Experience in working with potential vendors with adequate information for bids working with potential vendors and evaluating bids preferred.

Ideal Skills and Abilities:

• Strong base of both technical and project skills, including ability to communicate in person and in writing and maintain positive and effective relationships in a team environment.
• Prepare and review electrical engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and other engineering project documentation.

• Conduct factory testing and field testing/startup of industrial electrical systems hardware and software.

• Troubleshooting and repairing existing electrical systems (both hardware and software).

• Developing technical policies and procedures and making recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.

Ideal Knowledge:

• Operations, services, and activities of an industrial electrical system including electronic and electrical systems in water production, treatment, and distribution.
• Principles and practices of electrical engineering design and installation.
• Knowledge of electrical standards (NFPA, NEC, NETA), electrical software tools (SKM, SPM/PME, SKF tester)
• Principles and practices of project scheduling, management, and budgeting.

Ideal Training and Education:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in electrical engineering.
OR
Possession of a valid California Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate with two (2) years of associated paraprofessional electrical engineering experience.

The Department: 
 The Assistant City Clerk’s Office/City Manager’s Office is recruiting to fill a Deputy City Clerk. The Assistant City Clerk’s Office is organized under the City Clerk’s Office.  The Office of the Assistant City Clerk processes the agendas for and attends all meetings of the Council and Authorities Concurrent and Stadium Authority meetings, maintains accurate and up-to-date records of the proceedings of those meetings and makes those records open for public inspection. The Office of the Assistant City Clerk processes and maintains copies of City contracts, ordinances, resolutions and other official documents. The Office of the Assistant City Clerk manages and compiles City records in accordance with the Records Retention Schedule and in response to Public Records Act requests. The Office of the Assistant City Clerk administers campaign and disclosure laws, the Campaign Finance Ordinance, Regulation of Lobbying Activities program and the Calendars of Certain City Officials program. The Office of the Assistant City Clerk also administers oaths of affirmation pertaining to the affairs and business of the City and certifies copies of official records.
 
 The Position: 
 The Deputy City Clerk will report to the Assistant City Clerk and perform highly complex administrative and analytical work. This position will assist the Assistant City Clerk in the administration of the City Clerk's Office. The incumbent will assist in developing, implementing and coordinating projects, programs and procedures. This position is responsible for assisting with Public Record Act (PRA) requests and this position will also support projects and programs within the City Manager’s Office. Incumbents in this position will have considerable independence in making judgment related to their assignments and must handle situations with great sensitivity, tact and diplomacy. May supervise or act as lead worker to staff involved in management activities.  
 
As a member of the City's unclassified service, this is an "at-will" position. The incumbent serves at the discretion of the City Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any education or experience equivalent to:

• An Associate of Arts degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or closely related field; and
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory or lead administrative/management experience in a City Clerk's Office. 

Desirable Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or possession of a Certified Municipal Clerk certification or required within two (2) years of hire.

LICENSE
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for duration of employment.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is recruiting for a Child Care Director.  Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, this position will perform responsible work in administering and managing a state-funded preschool program.  The incumbent in this position will independently oversee the program and staff at Pickleweed Preschool located in East San Rafael. 

This position performs the following essential job duties: 

• Assist with the establishment of the program budget
• Hire, train, and supervise staff
• Supervise timely completion of annual ECERS
• Supervise completion of DRDP assessments twice annually
• Supervise timely completion of parent surveys
• Supervise timely completion of two parent conferences annually
• Supervise timely ongoing child portfolios
• Supervise and implement systems for creating and maintaining regular written child observations
• Complete annual June 1st report to Department of Education

• Receives, logs, and stores oral, injectable, and sample medications; monitors inventory levels and expiration dates; discards of expired medications according to policy.

 

• Assists and observes clients self-dispense medication as prescribed by a  psychiatrist and administers scheduled injections.

 

• Conducts medication checks on clients to assess their overall medication management capabilities; takes appropriate action if client poses danger with respect to the use or abuse of medication; observes, evaluates, records, and reports to professional staff changes in client’s condition.
