The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant Fire Inspector in the Fire Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Division and help administer special projects aimed at assisting residents with defensible space, hazardous vegetation cleanup, and preparing for wildfire. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of experience in fire, building, or code enforcement inspections in a paid professional, internship, or volunteer capacity. Municipal experience desirable.

Other desirable qualifications include: Completion of California State Fire Marshal's Fire Prevention 1A, 1B, and 1C courses; Fire Inspector 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D; or International Code Council (ICC) Fire Inspector I; Associate’s degree in fire science, emergency management, fire protection engineering, environmental science, ecosystem management, public policy, public administration, or related field.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for a Deputy Director of Community Development and Services Agency - Planning Department. The incumbent will Assist the Community Development and Services Agency (CDSA) Director in planning, organizing and administering the work in the programs and activities of the Planning Department. Implementation and management of the strategic plan and performance management in a manner that supports CDSA program development and decision-making; act as a liaison with other County departments and agencies that have a regulatory or shared interest in service provision with CDSA; and perform related duties as assigned.  

Examples of Duties:

• Provide day-to-day supervision over assigned divisions, programs, and special support functions.  
• Manage, plan, organize, administer, review and evaluate the activities of assigned CDSA staff and contract staff through subordinate levels of supervision; evaluate program effectiveness and modify accordingly.  
• Assist in developing and directing the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for assigned functional areas of CDSA; implement policy and procedural changes as required.

Scenario: You are a Management Analyst in the City Manager’s Office tasked with researching and analyzing policies relevant to homeless services and mitigation practices.

In March 2024, California passed Proposition 1. Proposition 1 authorizes $6.4 billion in bonds to pay for major projects such as housing for veterans and mental health, drug, and/or alcohol facilities.  Proposition 1 will also shift how revenue from the 1% tax on income above $1 million is spent under the law. Proposition 1 renames the Mental Health Services Act (2004) to the Behavioral Health Services Act and expands its purpose to include substance use disorders, including for persons without a mental illness.

The City of Fremont’s Homelessness Response Team is drafting a Homelessness Response Plan for Fremont. The Team will be presenting the plan to City Council in May 2024 for study and potential adoption.

The City of Berkeley is seeking a Senior Public Health Nurse who is passionate about working with community members and partners! In this role, you will take an equity-focused approach to supporting good health for families and individuals across the lifespan.

The Senior Public Health Nurse will provide health consultations and case management in a multidisciplinary team for families facing complex health challenges. We're looking for a Supervising Public Health Nurse to manage programs in our Public Health Division! Join us in our mission to achieve health equity and optimal health for all people in Berkeley through systems change, service provision, and collaboration with community members and partners.

As a Supervising Public Health Nurse, you will have the opportunity to direct the Family Support Services Unit or the Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Unit. You will supervise nursing and support staff, develop program goals and policies, and perform professional nursing work within your program. You may also coordinate and supervise the operation of health-related services like Targeted Case Management and programs involving education, prevention, and coordination of resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university (accredited by the National League for Nursing) with major coursework in nursing and four (4) years of general public health nursing experience with involvement in project leadership or program planning, including one (1) year of lead-level experience. A master's degree in public health or public health nursing is desirable.

The City of Marysville is excited to announce that we are looking for Intern Fire Fighters.  Currently, we have 3 positions looking to be filled.

This is a NEW program within the Marysville Fire Department.  The Marysville Fire Department is hiring continuously for twelve (12) Firefighter Reserves.  These positions will be funded for four (4) years through the SAFER Grant.  

For each 24 hour shift worked, you will receive $60 for food and mileage, that will be paid monthly in accordance with the City of Marysville's established pay schedule.
